Another farse. If some whacko wants to get a gun, one can be had in no time on streets, for the right price. Just more tokenism and another kick to the Second Amendment. The Congress is becoming more useless by the day — check their ratings — they are in the toilet and rightfully so.

Could that be extended to dentists?

The plan allows names to be entered into the NICS system based solely on a physician's diagnosis or prescription of a medication If a doctor is anti-gun then he could see pro-gun people as having mental problems.

If a doctor is anti-gun then he could see pro-gun people as having mental problems.BINGO! The factor that makes this unconstitutional is called DUE PROCESS. I would agree that a doc's opinion might be vital as long as there is some form of ADJUDICATION of an individual in a court of law where he has the opportunity to defend against the charges. Take a look at the AMA for an official doctrine on Firearms. It'll make your blood run cold.

I think that makes sense. Not if some doctors turn out to judge that none of his patients should be able to own a gun.
If that's due process, I'm Bugs Bunny...

How do you propose to prevent abuse of this power? Find a competent doctor to find you competent. Then sue the anti-gunner doctor for malpractice. A few payouts and an increase in liability insurance for doctors who make such judgments will end the practice.

Now my last physical exam makes some sense. The Doc gave me a questionaire to fill out before the exam, which of course would go over recent medical history and such.....I was shocked to find a question asking if I had any firearms in the house. There were other very personal questions irrelevant to my medical condition I did not want to answer.
I ripped the doc a new one over these questions and he backed off and said I didn’t have to answer if I didn’t want to.

Not like I'm in favor of any new anti-gun legislation, but WorldNutD is overhyping it just a tad. Like with their claim that all PTSD vets will automatically be put on the NICS list. That's not how I read it. It specifically says that you have to be declared a danger to self or others or unable to manage your affairs to make the list. PTSD does not involve any of those.
Text at http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/F?c110:3:./temp/~c110yNCb2w:e585:
The bill is HR 2640. Again, no bill would be a better bill, but, this text is not as alarming as WND states.

In case you didn’t know this, a huge number of family practitioners are nanny state liberals. A few years ago they were leading the movement to ask every kid they saw if there was a gun in the home, etc. etc. Dr’s live in their own world.

All it will take is one gun rampage nut to sue his doctor for not doing this and the white coated gates will clang shut on all our 2nd amendment freedoms, unless we are so healthy as to see no doctor at all.
To: Rodney King
A lot of people don’t know this, having no personal interest in RKBA they don’t see the threat.
