Thanks to our great congressman billybob, who has been all over talk radio today speaking on a number of issues, not the least of which was the decision by the Supremes to uphold Right to Life groups who challenged McLame/Feingold.
Billybob also had some choice things to say on local Kansas City talk station KMBZ's Darla Jaye Show on DiFi's idiotic lunacy on Fox News Sunday interview regarding intention of liberals and Trent Lott (attempting to sound "reasonable") to restore the so-called "Fairness Doctrine" which was anything but and made AM daytime shows a vast wasteland of farm reports, traffic and weather reporting (or threatening), as well as shows that very few listened to and advertisers paid little for.
zerosix, friend of Agar.
BUMP
Hmm.. Sean Hannity or grain prices. I must admit, I am stuck.
Depends... do the grain prices spend 15 minutes per hour self-promoting?
The very reason they make coins with a side marked heads and the opposite side marked tails.
Call it in the air.......
Alternatively, if we bring back the Fairness Doctrine for radio only, we can point out that radio is now fair and balanced so we no longer need to fund National Public Radio. Zero it out next fiscal year. Do the same with PBS.
Newspapers have First Amendment Rights and as there are now many television alternatives, cable, satellite that radio doesn't fall into.
As to NPR, liberals have never considered it to be "biased" don't you know. Neither do they consider NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, and PBS "biased."
Just those pesky conservative talk shows are the "problem that we must deal with" (Trent Lott.)
Congressman Billybob
A huge THANKS to you, Billybob.
That WAS you on Denver talk this morning, right?
Billybob BUMP!
I have a better idea: why don't we obey the Constitution?Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.Allow me to translate: it is unconstitutional for the government to decide what newspapers are fair and what newspapers are not fair. Period. And it is unconstitutional to censor radio transmissions, too - unless it everyone is censored. As it is, of course, you and I - nearly everyone - is completely censored from emitting radio waves in the "broadcast band," while the government's favorites have licenses. The licensees have the right to broadcast, and you and I have the right to listen - and the duty to shut up. A situation which stands the Constitution on its head.
The Second Amendment will protect the First Amendment.
At least the farm programs wouldn’t be bringing in Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson or Calypso Louie Farrakhan for their worthless opinions or comments...
Good point. Another reason I rarely listen.
