A discussion thread about Fred vs Duncan
Keep plugging away... I would if I were you.
But please notice, that the people you are hoping will get behind Hunter have already taken a look at Hunter and all others, then DRAFTED Thompson.
There is a very important message in here that you simply are not willing to hear....yet. Stick to your guns, but do it by talking up Hunter, not tearing down Thompson, because that is an error that could cost both in the end.
Not exactly true, but the right idea.
Hunter defeated an incumbent Democrat who had held the seat for 18 years in liberal California, so he’s used to beating the odds, and he will AGAIN.
Best to you and Hunter.
Thanks for the ping. That’s a good contrast of the differences between Fred and Duncan on immigration. Thanks for posting that, familyop. I’m reproducing it here so that I don’t have to go hunting for it in the future when I might want to use it.

One was built to keep people in against their will and the other is intended to keep illegals out to assist in maintaining the rule of law. There is no comparison.
You’re very welcome! Please do keep it for copying and pasting. Repetition is the only way that enough people will see it against the flood of mainstream media tactics (and worse) in our midst.
Seems like I’m late to the party here, but I agree, there seems to be some vitriol between the two camps for no reason really.
I’m going to vote for either one that makes it past the primary. (I probably won’t be able to vote for either one in the primary, since I’m registered Democrat here in Maryland, and they don’t let Dems vote in Rep primaries here. I registered Dem to get an impact in local elections, trying to elect the least likely candidate, however I’ve tried the last 2 years to register Republican because now I’m disgusted with even the LABEL Dem. For some reason though, when I resubmit a new voter registration with Republican marked on it, I get a new card labeled Dem. Go figure)
I quip because I need not say anything more.
Thanks for the post. Again.
This whole issue has such strong emotions on either side. When I look at the verichip stuff, and see that the vote was 97-0, I realize that we are helping to generate the terrible system mentioned in the Bible in Rev 13.
4Men worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who is like the beast? Who can make war against him?” ....
16He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, 17so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.

Heres one of many from the same site you managed to overlook.
Voted for comprehensive alien tracking and
identification system in 2002
Sen. Thompson voted in favor of H.R. 3525, the Enhanced Border Security and Visa Entry Reform Act of 2001. H.R. 3525 will significantly reduce future population growth from illegal immigration by making it much harder for temporary visa holders to stay in the country illegally after their visa expire. H.R. 3525 provides for an entry-exit system in which every visa holder is checked with a biometric identifier when heshe enters and leaves the country. This information is included in an integrated database that is shared by the appropriate law-enforcement officials. H.R. 3525 passed the Senate unanimously by a vote of 97-0 and is expected to be signed into law by President Bush.
There are several others... If you are gonna use that kind of misleading rhetoric and cherry picking the facts, you deserve no credibility.

Nutcase Kucinich is polling better than Hunter. Can you explain this is a manner which makes Hunter sound good?
I’m watching for Hunters surge. 1% ???
Bill Clinton was 2% in the polls in OCTOBER of ‘91, so if Duncan Hunter only gets to 2% by October, he can be president.
I wish all conservatives would fight for CONSERVATIVES, as hard as liberals fight for liberals.
Thankfully, many of us conservative do, which is why we will win!
Somebody better tell all those Hunter supporters to start answering the poll question correctly...
Q: Who do you support for president in ‘08?
Proper answer for all Hunter supporters: Hunter!
So far, only 1% of all those Hunter supporters out there understand the question...
Bill Clinton was 2% in the polls in OCTOBER of 91, so if Duncan Hunter only gets to 2% by October, he can be president.
Yes, I think you’ve mentioned this before.
However, Bill Clinton had not spent 28 years in national office without making a name for himself. Nobody outside of Arkansas had any reason to know him at all. Duncan has been hanging out in Washington for 28 years and voters said, Duncan who?
Clinton had personality, charisma, and a line of bull ten miles long. He was a Rock Star, unlike Hunter. He was elected by folks without substance. Hunter needs to move people of substance.
Bill Clinton also had NO chance of winning without the help of Ross Perot. The stats are very clear on that...
Who is the DNC Ross Perot that will divide the DNC vote in ‘08 making room for Hunter to win by a minority popular vote, like Clinton did?
Duncan Hunter IS making a name for himself. Among other examples, Chris Wallace quoted Hunter just this morning on FoxNews Sunday, telling Chertoff that Duncan Hunter said only 13 milies of the 854 mile fence has been built so far.
Chris Wallace quoted DUNCAN HUNTER, because DUNCAN HUNTER knows what is going on. DUNCAN HUNTER has people checking out the progress of the fence.
Even the president didn’t know what little was accomplished on building that fence.
I’m not saying that Hunter isn’t a good man or that you shouldn’t support whoever you want to support.
But you take a look at a guy with 28 years in Washington who can’t muster more than 3% in the polls and see a winner.
I take a look at the same guy and see a career politician (my least favorite thing in the free world almost), who can’t attract more than 3% of his party base, which is clearly looking for a real conservative this time around, and see a man with no chance of winning anything on a national level.
We simply look at the same man and see two very different candidates.
Every conservative better come to grips with the very real fact that we have two very important objectives here in ‘08...
The first is to win the election...
because without this one, none of our principles matter a bit.
The second objective is equally important, to move our party and the nation as far to the right as is possible in any single election. This will require the most conservative president that can win, and the most congressional seats up for grabs, which means, coat-tails.
As a wise friend once said, “Politics is NOT a practice of the perfect, it’s a practice of the possible”.
It’s possible that Hunter could win. It’s possible that Buggs Bunny could win in ‘08.
But nobody can look at the odds and give either a likelyhood over the other right here...
Let’s work our differences in the form of a dream ticket, Thompson/Hunter, Hunting season is open on RINOS, unlimited RINO tags....
BTW - Thompson being drafted by people rejecting Hunter and all others has to be one of the most frustrating things that could happen to any Hunter supporter. Ron Paul supporters feel exactly as Hunter supporters feel and the fact is, if it’s all about career voting records, Paul is far to the right of Hunter.
So if your argument is, you plan to damn the torpedos in support of whoever is the candidate farthest to the right, Hunter still isn’t the man.
Hunter and Paul, like all “second tier” candidates, are equal dark horse long-shots at best, politically speaking. They all have an equal chance of winning, which is almost none.
So if you’re going to go down in flames on principle, at least pick the man farthest to the right.
Why not make a real statement?
