Bridge Collapses
Minnesota - A key bridge on I-35 in Minneapolis, Minnesota unexpectedly collapsed into the Mississippi River last night at rush hour. Authorities say at least 50 cars were on the structure at the time it collapsed. Four people are confirmed dead, and many more are injured and reported missing. At this time no reason is being given for the collapse, but investigators have ruled out an earthquake or terrorism as possible causes.
O'Donnell, Moore, Kennedy Join For Forum
Minneapolis - To raise awareness and support for universal health care, gay rights, and ending the Iraq war, Senator Ted Kennedy (D-Mass), film maker Michael Moore, and former talk show host Rosie O'Donnell are holding an open forum tonight at the Minneapolis Convention Center. This is the first of several stops to promote key Democrat Party causes, leading up to the election.
On a side note, the bus the three were traveling in narrowly missed being involved in the horrific bridge collapse yesterday, having just gone over the bridge seconds before it gave way. An assistant to Sen. Kennedy called it a "miracle."
Why don’t they send the injured to Cuba?
Those three in a bus on that bridge makes me wonder if some weight limit was surpassed. Maybe it is their fault!
If Tony Snow is correct, responsibility for keeping the Interestate highways and bridges repaired rests with the states in which they are located. The Feds supply a lot of the money through highway funding, but the states decide where and how to spend it.
I presume he would not have said this if it were not true, because the media would jump on it.
Now that would have been the ultimate irony.
“Bush, Global Warming Blamed for Bridge Collapse”
God forbid that anyone recall the Big Dig in Boston...Fat Ted and John F’n Kerry, THANKS ALOT!
You guys should know Scooter is a satirist...
I think Teddy knows that ~ planned his trip to Minneapolis carefully so that just as the funds finally ran out his bus was on the downhill grade on the SW slope on its way to the convention center.
If I said what I thought, I’d probably have Bill O’Reilly on my back.
