Went to the Stock Car Races yesterday evening. Our SIL drives #23 (black car with yellow numerals in photo) in the Formula IV series at the Altamont Motorsports Park (Central CA - 40+ miles east of San Francisco). Last night's event had two 100 lap main events on the 1/2 mile oval course for two different classes of Stock Cars. Got some pics race fans might be interested in seeing.
The first pic shows the cars competing in the Formula IV class road course...
The next pics show Car #03 driven by Jim Pettit - the eventual winner in the SRL (StockCar Racing League) main event.
Before the race, the cars lined up in front of the grandstands and the fans were allowed to go down and meet and greet the drivers for autographs and pics.
I noticed the stickers on the side of Jim's car so I went over to thank him for supporting the troops with those stickers. He's a proud supporter of our Armed Forces - makes me even happier that he won last night.
A few pics of his car...
Our SIL finished 5th in his race last night, but he's holding on to 3rd place in the season's standings. Next week car #23 will have a new number and driver - our daughter. SIL built another car and will put 23 on that one and 7 will go on the old 23. Husband and wife will duel it out for the checkered flag. I love it!
There ya have it race fans.

My strength is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9
Physical therapy is a painful necessity after knee-replacement surgery. Part of my routine involved my therapist pulling my knee back into a bent position and holding it taut. Good stretch? Mason would ask encouragingly. No, I winced, not that good!
I soon learned, however, how important it is to stretch ones muscles and jointssometimes causing discomfortto gain full range of motion.
That wasnt the first time Ive been stretched outside my comfort zone. God has sometimes urged me to share my faith with someone I didnt know very well, or to give an offering that was far beyond what I usually give, or to confront someone about a situation.
Abrahams life illustrates the importance of faith when God asks us to move beyond our comfort zone. By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called . . . . He went out, not knowing where he was going (Heb. 11:8).
While we stretch our spiritual muscles, we may feel discomfort. But God assures us, My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Cor. 12:9). Our adequacyour sufficiencyis found in Him (3:5).
When you boldly step out in faith and obedience to God, you may be surprised at how a good stretch can strengthen your spiritual life!
