F.R. defamed as "Hate Site" by Fox 5 News! [FOX News' Bill O'Reilly started this B/S]

I was listening to the news out of the corner of my ear when I heard FreeRepublic specifically mentioned as a "hate site" about fifteen minutes ago.

Ostensibly the long report was about the Klan using the web to recruit new wackos. Then the focus turned to Casa Maryland, and their director who claimed that calls for his murder had circulated on the internet by anti-immigrant bigots. It was then that the anchor identified FR by name as a hate site.

I have seen none of what you report. Of course, I cannot be everywhere at once. Your opinion and my opinion differ. This is a wonderful site. I have been to other sites but never posted till here. Do you really believe the msm (little letters for a reason) is going to use any other brush to describe Free Republic other than the brush the msm is using? I do not have the faith you seem to have in the msm being fair.....

An excellent question posed by you. The msm (small letters) I have lost all my respect for an organization who lies to the people of this Great Nation, and continue to ask me and all Americans to be willingly to be led by their lies. This site (Free Republic), I truly believe "ain't done nuttin'" but one will never hear that fact from the msm. Theirs is agenda driven reporting. Destruction is what the msm is all about. Free Republic takes pokes at very powerful people. To believe those people will not react is folly, but sometimes the world is made a better place because people pointed to those who lied and forced a second look of those persons. I will not allow the msm to walk away, when telling a lie, without taking notes and coming here. If the msm lies or offers an opinion, a tag should run across the bottom of the screen SCREAMING, The preceding report and the following report is an opinion based on No FACTS". At least here I do not have to filter the information being spoon fed by someone lying to me, constantly. This is our so-called unbiased press. The msm press will never change, unless people continue to complain and refuse to watch!

The owner is ultimately responsible for the product. And, O’Reilly started this.

I did a google on Li. Li is well established with the "Washington Republican" elite, at least according to her inside bonifides on google. I can only come to the conclusion that this is solely about immigration and the Republican faction within the administration and congress that was pushing the immigration bill.

FreeRepublic as well as certain talk show hosts were very vocal against it, conversely certain Republicans and talk show hosts (particularly Bill O'Reilly) were virulently pro-illegal invasion.

It is useless for us to beat ourselves up over whether or not there is hate talk on FR. This is the expected diversion the likes of O'Reilly and Li want to create. This was intentional slander with malice on their part to promote and ongoing agenda.

I have come to the conclusion that the only way to fight this is with a defamation suit and ongoing investigation into who in the "Washington Republican" establishment is abetting or promoting this attack.

What are your thoughts?

I said as much the other day...that a 'dirty dozen' or so posters keep the vast majority of Freepers from posting their opinions on the Immigration threads. They terrorize everyone with their penchant for gang-banging and thuggery.

If I recall correctly, no single person was mentioned by BOR. I'm not an attorney, but it seems to me that it would be difficult at best to prove defamation of character when the "individual" is a forum.

I have no faith in the MSM being fair. The point is that sometimes we hand them the club they beat us with -- such as some of the stuff you'll find on the immigration threads.

If Fox talks about Free Republic being a "hate site," plenty of things can be said about MySpace.com as well, on the basis of what is shown above. For the record, I reported this user (and another, who posted the other two anti-Semitic cartoons) to MySpace yesterday, so we will see what happens.

My opinion is that both O’Reilly and Li took multiple threads out of context and then broad-casted them on TV. Mr. Robinson was directly effected, however anyone who posts was also tarred by the same brush. This was not even an issue of due diligence on the part of them. There actions were deliberate, misleading and malicious with intent to harm FR members as a class. I believe it is provable that they were pushing a political agenda by intentionally misrepresenting the facts and defaming a class of people with malice.

I am not a lawyer. If I was Mr. Robinson I would have been on the phone to the lawyers asap. I know the legal system is ugly and expensive, however it is necessary in this case of unjustified and repeated media attacks

I participate in the invasion threads, myself. I see none of what you type. Looks as though we simply disagree. I have my opinions of the invasion and I am certain you have your opinions. I am free to read your opinions and respond, as you are free to read my opinions and respond. This is the way this forum works. The discourse is civil. Step out of line, the man come and take one away. I have witnessed that, but not rampant 'hate'. Again, I have seen none of what you describe as 'hate' on these invasion threads, other than someone whose thread was pulled, the post was pulled, or the poster was pulled. This is what this forum is about, Civil Discourse and Debate with an eye toward advancing Conservatism.
