Newark Mayor Booker's plan to curb guns

Newark Mayor Cory Booker yesterday outlined a series of measures designed to monitor the flow of guns in and out of the state's largest city and to prevent gun dealers from opening shop in residential neighborhoods or near schools.

Booker, joined by Gov. Jon Corzine and Attorney General Anne Milgram at a news conference yesterday afternoon, admitted the initiatives may not stop the bloodshed overnight, but called them necessary steps in order to curtail violence.

The announcement comes nearly two weeks after four college-age Newark residents were shot in the head behind an elementary school in the Ivy Hill neighborhood. Three of the students died and a fourth survived.

Trust me — a “gun dealer” in Newark is not running a legitimate business. Any respectable gun dealer left that place years ago.

Very disappointing to read. Booker knows what the problem is, and this is just typical liberal feel-good targets.

You couldn’t pay me to live in New Jersey. Even though our Governor here in WI is a Rat, most of the state is conservative without the crime that’s plaguing other states.

Coming from the mayor who stated that he wanted to fight the war on crime, only to make newark an illegal immigrant sanctuary city 2 months before the slaughter of the college students.

I wonder why I was under the impression that Booker had common sense? Maybe it was all of the good PR he seemed to generate.

The mayor did not explain how police would enforce the gun registry, especially pertaining to guns that were purchased illegally.

Way to go, Mayor Numbnuts! Keep Newark a sanctuary city for child rapists and killers, but crack down on legal gun dealers! That'll do it!

(Typical liberal, with the mind of a six year old.)

Mayor Dunce Booger reminds me a lot of Mayor Dunce Nagin. Can’t our cities elect leaders with brains? Or is it that those with brains don’t want the job?

Yea, mass murderers and terrorists might realize they forgot to bring guns and/or ammo and stop off at the gun shop across the street to correct that oversight.

And if you believe that, there's a large bridge not far from NJ that I could probably sell you.

Check out this Newark thread and Octavia’s post

I just spoke with a young lady that works in a certain department and she said that they did not tell people the whole story about what went on during the slaying. Iofemi Hightower’s ears were cut off and the the young men were also stabbed by the perps. She also said Natasha was not near the trio and Jose Lachira Carranza tried to rape Natasha and was fighting him off. This was the reason why the man said he heard a young lady saying “Don’t do that.”
