I've not mentioned this much on the board, but she has been fighting cancer for several months now. Her body is weak; she cannot swallow because when she tries the liquid goes into her lungs.
One doctor says he sees little hope in continuing chemo (a general practictioner), but the oncologist says even though she'll always have the disease, she can get back to a normal life.
Right now she is preparing to have a hospital bed at home and dad will be "feeding" her through a tube in her belly. But she's even had trouble keeping that food down; she has been throwing up even the pablum they feed her that way!
Chemotherapy has weakened her body, but has also helped slow the cancer's progress. Those of you who've battled this know how it can be.
Anyway, she vacillates of course with moods...and my dad, several states away from us, is doing a yeoman's job in trying to take care of her.
One lovely thing: she is a woman of faith, a follower of Christ. She does have friends who come and care for her, too...so the Lord's hands and feet are around her!
I certainly believe God is sovereign, and I also know He hears our prayers.

So sorry to hear your mom is suffering. Our dad lost his battle with cancer and we know how comforting prayers and encouragement will be for B.J.’s emotional & spiritual strength. You might want to have your dad check to see if there is a “Hospice” program near their area?

Prayers up, RD. I know what you’re going through as my Dad is in a hospital bed at home, too. He has lung cancer and they’ve stopped all treatments because the doctor’s have lost hope. But we keep the faith.

Prayers for BJ, and a 'hang-in-there-buddy' to your dad. As a dad, he's probably got the shoulders to carry the weight. Most do, and my heart goes out to him, too.

I know only too well what you are going through. My mom went through it too in her 60’s. It’s not easy and I will be praying for her, your dad and you. We must never give up believing in healing.

You know, even a small thing like not being able to swallow must be so difficult to deal with. I have swallowing problems at night which is why I am up typing on a keyboard at 5:30 in the am.
I am using the time to pray for mom. You never know what God has in store. I seen miracles happen in my life, no reason your mom shouldn’t have one.
I will especially pray that Jesus holds Mom up.
Therefore we do not become discouraged. Though our outer man is decaying and wasting away, yet our inner self is being renewed day after day.
For our light, momentary affliction is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!],

Indeed. I have loved many who have battled this, on to Jesus and those surviving. God grant thee and thy mama sufficient grace in this time of need for He Alone Is Able, Good, and Worthy to be praised in all our trials, amen. It is the Lord Jesus we rejoice in, through it all.
