Poll taken on 9/7-9/8.

The samples of 425 Republicans and Republican-leaning independents and 500 Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents have margins of error of +/- 5 percentage points.Well-nigh useless in my book.

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney has slipped 4 points from August, to 10%.
Hoo, boy. Expect the Romneyites to kick up the ugly-level. Then there are the candidates who aren't even mentioned....

Boy they make it hard as they put the results all over the place. But it looks like Rudy 34....Fred 22.....McCain 15....Romney 10.
Not good for Romney and it looks like McCain is still down but not out.
To: Clara Lou
They only call landlines. If they called cellphones, L.Ron would be leading with 78% or so.

Not saying it doesn’t represent a snap shot of where things stand, but itsn’t funny that when a poll supports conservatives positions or candidates, no matter the source, it’s suddenly valid, but if it doesn’t then suddenly it’s flawed?

It’s a funny thing known as human nature.
Though, one can make a case for lending more weight to pollsters who have historically been close to the outcome. Rasmussen is one that shouldn’t be discounted. That doesn’t mean you discount every other one. Watching the polls is better for trends anyway than exact numbers.
Thompson making a 3 point move overnight after his announcement is an interesting trend to watch for and see if it happens in other polls. I’m waiting to see what Ras shows though, as he’s been dead on in the last couple elections.

If he’d declared earlier, he’d have climbed earlier.

Thompson is significantly less well known than Giuliani or McCain 28% of Republicans say they've never heard of Thompson, compared with 8% for Giuliani and 9% for McCain. IF THEY SAY THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF FRED, THEN THEY ARE NOT REPUBLICANS. THEY ARE RINOS, OR WORSE, DIMOCRATS. PURE, 100%, UNADULTRATED B.S.

yes, it's human nature. It's also based on feelings. Conservatives work with facts, not feelings.
the polls are tainted/this one's valid arguement is simply a way to minimize the truth when the polls are against ones position.
Instead of dealing with reality, they deal in deflection of the facts.

The Paul campaign mathamagician put the actual figure as closer to 103.42%
