Can She Reach Religious Voters? (Hillary "most religious Democrat since Jimmy Carter")
Washington Post ^ | 9-26-07 | Michael Gerson

Clinton is neither secular nor awkward about her faith. She cites her Methodist upbringing as a formative experience, with its emphasis on "preaching and practicing the social gospel." As a teenager in 1962, she heard and met the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. in Chicago -- what would have been a profound experience for a spiritually alert youth -- and was later politically radicalized by his assassination. The likely Democratic nominee participates regularly in small-group Bible studies and is familiar with the works of Reinhold Niebuhr, Paul Tillich and Dietrich Bonhoeffer -- the theological heroes of mainline Protestantism (and of some stray Evangelicals like myself).

In a nation obsessed by the influence of religious conservatives, it is easy to forget that liberal Protestants were once the dominant cultural influence in America. Beginning in the early 20th century, the social gospel advanced swiftly through most American denominations. Progressive presidents such as Woodrow Wilson spoke in the cadences of this movement: "Christianity was just as much intended to save society as to save the individual, and there is a sense in which it is more important that it should save society."

This high-minded theological liberalism had many successes

Being a Methodist, and citing those theologians, will in no way commend her to Evangelicals. Probably will work against her, in fact.

I think you can identify most Christians by how they treat those they have power over. I can’t help but remember the employees of the White House Travel Office who had their lives destroyed.

yes exactly. The Bible says our weapons are spiritual and not carnal, so we can leave the bulk of politics to the unsaved. What are we supposed to do— convince Ted Kennedy of his wrongs? Good luck.

"....Thank God for the Electoral College....."

Methinks the skank knows what she is up against.

Remember her calls for the abolition of the Electoral College right after Kerry's defeat?

She knows.....

Gee, I guess Rosie ‘Christians are more Dangerous’ O’Donell and the ‘D list’ chick won’t be voting for Hillary, eh?

Just a thought....

At least there's some truth in this article.
And she's still a political radical.
A Marxist pretending to be a Democrat pretending to be a sane person
pretending to be a patriot from Real America.

As fake as a $3 bill.

Mrs. Clinton is "religious" alright, the apostle Paule accurately describes her in 2 Timothy:1-9 (Emphasis mine)

But realize this, that in the LAST DAYS difficult times will come.

For men will be LOVERS OF SELF, lovers of money, BOASTFUL, ARROGANT, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, UNHOLY,

unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, HATERS OF GOOD,

TREACHEROUS, reckless, CONCEITED, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

holding to a form of godliness HOLDING TO A FORM OF gODLINESS, ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE DENIED ITS POWER; AVOID SUCH MEN AS THESE.

For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses,

ALWAYS LEARNING AND NEVER ABLE TO COME TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH.

JUST AS Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth SO THESE MEN ALSO OPPOSE THE TRUTH, MEN OF DEPRAVED MIND, REJECTED IN REGARD TO THE FAITH.

But they will not make further progress; for THEIR FOLLY WILL BE OBVIOUS TO ALL, just as Jannes’ and Jambres’ folly was also.

Those who name the name of Christ, have an admonition from God to AVOID her and to NOT vote for or support her.

Sounds like Hillary's all female staff gathered up and provided Hillary with all the buzz-words that they THINK will fake out enough religious people to allow her to get elected

I don't think it's going to work.

Fixed it for her: She cites her Communist upbringing as a formative experience, with its emphasis on socialism

The Left is two-faced in regards to religious involvement in public policy. When the Religious Right moves to ban partial birth abortion and gay marriage, “Separation of Chruch & State” is shouted.

However, when liberal churches move to combat global warming and provide Govt healthcare for all, its all dandy to the Left.

I say three cheers for Jehu!

Who will reprise the role of Jehu in 2008?

Whoever does, they’ll ultimately end up a hero.

The operative word here is religious! Many that will never darken the gates of Heaven are religious, but being a spiritual giant is another matter all together.

Tune in next week when we learn that Hillary is the re-incarnation of Harriet Beecher Stowe.

Someone have a BS meter handy?

The needle would be pegged on "man the lifeboats."

Wouldn't surprise me a bit if MLK was never in Chicago in 1962.

Liberals can't stand for anyone to judge them, even God!

Morals & Values are relative to Liberals, there are no finite right & wrong!

Liberals condemn & mock God, Jesus & those of faith to justify their own repugnant behaviors!

And Hillary is a Liberal!
