SAN DIEGO, California (CNN) -- Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15-October 15) gives all Americans the chance to gain insight into the nation's largest minority. Ruben Navarrette Jr.: Hispanics aren't going anywhere. In many cases, we were in the United States first. You might as well give it a try. There are more than 44 million Hispanics in the United States, and the Census Bureau estimates that -- by 2050 --

“Medved actually agrees with him on his immigration stance on all point. Could someone please tell me what Medved’s agenda is. I can’t understand it.”
He’s Jewish. As much as I admire the Jewish people and support Israel, we don’t need any Jews within a thousand miles of our immigration policies. There are six in the Senate, and they invariably support the most liberal, come one, come all policies.
I think their history of often needing a refuge in another nation has permanently made them unable to say to no to anyone who wants to come here.
Dennis Prager is an exception to this, but there aren’t many.

I detest him. Here we find typical Hispanic triumphalism and braggadocio. If they're so smart and capable how come Mexico sucks and same for most other Latin nations. I could handle living in Argentina Chile and Uruguay. Other than that they are gawd awful places
Hey, I can speak Spanish, and if that's an important job skill then I have it. As far as my race and ethnicity goes, they don't need to know.
Of course Mexico stole it from Spain, who took it from the Indians
I'm with ya 100%. There will be no appreciable deportation. The politicians from both parties want the hordes' votes, sweat money or both.
The powder kegs are in place and a few more finger flippin', crutch grabbin', Old Glory burnin' demonstrations will provide the spark, especially if some get ultra violent.
The illegals have no idea that awakening a sleeping giant will be quite an awakening, followed by their demise. When they get scared shiiteless, whole neighborhoods will empty out overnight, the places where they worked will go out of business pronto, Bank of America will be having a cow scrambling to muster enough "legal" staff to cash them out, transportation will be heading one way; SOUTH. In this case, nobody will care when they run our southern border heading the other way!
Congress will not solve this problem, people will.
Did you say breed like rabbits?
Because the mask is finally off and he's putting it in our faces - whatcha gonna do, Gringo? Got the cojones to push us out? If not, we gonna take what you have and push you out.
That's all it is. They don't make any bones about it.
They want the country. Now. If you don't resist, you're weak and they are strong, so it's theirs.
That's their way. Used to be ours. Will we give in?
I understand that many American hispanics who are seeing their jobs go down the drain because of illegal immigration are understandably very angry.
They know it's not a racial thing, it's an invasion issue, it's a job protection issue, and much more.
That's it. The strutting, sneering Caudillo, The Beeg Man.
Just a thug and a gangster dressed up.

How many Nobel Prize winners are Hispanic or Muslim? And Peace and Literature Prizes don't count. What kind of scientific advances has the great Hispanic civilization given to mankind? I see lots of Nobel Science Prizes won by Anglos, by Jews, by Japanese, by other Europeans. Not much from the great Hispanic conquistadors who came to the New World to loot gold and silver while the English and Dutch came here to establish agriculture and industry. Making their wealth through work. Some slavery too
Not only do we not have the 'cojones' to push Hispanics we have no legal basis whatsoever to push Hispanics out of the country.
And yes, the vast majority of Hispanics in the U.S. are American Citizens just like me and I assume you.
I agree completely here. Unfortunately...you are correct.
I don’t think we’re going to stop them. We’re too afraid of getting singled out and made an example of as racist.
They are quite racist—or ethnocentric.
Yet, we cannot be by our own choosing. It’s sinister. Its’ like we’re infected with a suicidal mind virus that prevents us from defending ourselves.
It’s not unlike a small number of predators having an entire herd of water buffalo terrified and huddled together—each member afraid of being the unlucky, singled out dinner, when as a whole, they could overrunn the predators swiftly with little or no risk of losing even the weakest member.
This is what the more or less ‘white’ American majority is now. They used to be the predators, expanding the world over. My, how things change.
As a natural selection atheist, this isn’t really too surprising to me. Still sucks though when it’s happening to me. It was a lot more fun to talk about in the abstract when it was happening to ancient people.
What’s amazing is our refusal to turn this around despite having the ability to so. We could force Mexico back down to south of the border, but we don’t. We don’t like what they’ve done to So Cal. No one in Southern California likes the invasion because they turn each neighborhood into a hybrid of barrio/mexican farm. Poor, uneducated, people. I mean, they are not elevating the brain trust in the least.
And the biggest opposition we face is from other garbachos...it’s self-inflicted genocide.
Interesting choice of countries. As you may be away, most of the immigrants in Argentina were originally from Italy. Most of the immigrants from Uruguay came from Germany. And the founding father of Chile was Bernardo O'Higgins Riquelme, whose father was an Irishman educated in London. Do you think this is just a coincidence?
Navarette just showed his true colors.
Join me in sending Ruben a zinger - he deserves it.

So they are three of the least Hispanic countries in South America. I knew about the Italians dominating Argentina but not the rest. These three nations also have cooler, more European climate. I also think the three nations have much smaller American Indian population
If they are nationalists loyal to other nations and they are a threat to the existence of our nation, then yes we do

Only because of the misinterpretation of the 14th amendment regarding the children of illegal aliens. If you discount them, then no, I don't buy that at all. Maybe a small plurality are legal, but the numbers I've seen are something like
So no, I don't agree that most are our "brethern in arms".
Once the Mexicans get the southwest back, the precedent will be set for the indian tribe that can dig up the oldest artifacts in that region to demand it be given back to them. Let’s just call a crock a crock. Mexico lost, we won. Screw them.
I think the latter - you get the same attitude from the gueros, or blancos as they used to be called - i.e., White Spanish (Iberians).
Its like were infected with a suicidal mind virus that prevents us from defending ourselves
That's called Liberalism!
Its not unlike a small number of predators having an entire herd of water buffalo terrified and huddled together
The wolf cares not how numerous the sheep
As a natural selection atheist, this isnt really too surprising to me
I'm not an atheist, but natural selection seems obvious to me - and right now, the caucasians from Anglo-Saxonia are definitely proving that they aren't the fittest in the niche!
I mean, they are not elevating the brain trust in the least
Calli-Sforza explains what that does to a country in this landmark book of his The History and Geography of Human Genes.
dennisw has Sarkozy's comment in his tagline: we should only have immigrants who are "selected, not endured"...
