A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I could no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I have been including them here as I receive enough to make another collage.

I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why we've created a place for just that. This is a friendly room in JimRob's house where FReeper FRiends can gather every day and just say hello if that's all they want to do.

We have featured different FReepers, with a little background information on who they are and what makes them who they are, along with a few photos you might not have seen on other threads; sometimes others write an essay for us to post as the feature for the day; sometimes our presentation is a human interest story found elsewhere that you might not have read; sometimes special holiday threads; but whatever the topic of the day, it is always with FR's Finest in mind and that is YOU!

Every Monday we post the photos of FR's Military Personnel that I have collected and put into groups; these will be available to view through a link the remainder of the week - every day just a click away. :)   If you would like to add a photo of yourself or a loved one in the military, past or present, please let me know; I will hold it until I have enough for a new group.

The U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, the
Thunderbirds, fly in a six-jet diamond formation over the USS
Arizona Memorial and Battleship Missouri Memorial at Pearl
Harbor. The Thunderbirds were in Hawaii for Air Force
week.

Our home in Boise is next to a park where I walk most mornings. An elderly woman walks there at the same time. She walks clockwise and I walk counter-clockwise, which means that we meet twice each lap.

She has the most lovely, crinkly eyes and wrinkled face that wrinkles even more when she smiles. When she smiles, her whole face smiles!

She has Alzheimer’s.

The first time we meet she asks, “Have I sung my song?” I say, “No, ma’am.” And she sings a little song about the sun: “Good morning, Mr. Sunshine . . .” Then she smiles, raises her hands in a kind of blessing, and moves on.

So we go our separate ways—180 degrees around the circle—until we meet again. She asks, “Have I sung my song?” I say, “Sing it again!” And she does. I can’t get her delightful song out of my mind.

She has become a parable of the kind of person I want to be—making my way through the world, singing and making melody in my heart, singing of the Sun of Righteousness who has risen with healing in His wings (Mal. 4:2), leaving behind a lingering memory of His love.

May His song be on your heart and lips this day. And may many hear and put their trust in the Lord.

Good Morning Everyone!! Thank you Rus for the thread & the daily word & helping us despite your busy life. Did you get all the signs done? Is this for your personal election or for one of the “causes along the way”?

sunny & Mild in NE Ohio & my dog walk with Patty & John & our 4 dogs will be before the promised rains.

Everyone is busy. I note a lot less activity at many threads & several of the forums I visit.

The browns beat the Ravens yesterday ... I am shocked (but do have a smile on my face)

here is a little humor that has been around a bit, but still cute..

A U.S. Marine squad was marching north of Fallujah when they came upon an Iraqi terrorist, badly injured and unconscious. On the opposite side of the road was an American Marine in a similar but less serious state. The Marine was conscious and alert and as first aid was given to both men, the squad leader asked the injured Marine what had happened.

The Marine reported, “I was heavily armed and moving north along the highway here, and coming south was a heavily armed insurgent. We saw each other and both took cover in the ditches along the road. I yelled to him that Saddam Hussein was a miserable, lowlife scumbag who got what he deserved, and he yelled back that Ted Kennedy is a fat, good-for-nothing, left wing liberal drunk who doesn’t know how to drive. So I said that Osama Bin Ladin dresses and acts like a frigid, mean-spirited lesbian!” He retaliated by yelling, “Oh yeah? Well, so does Hillary Clinton!”
