Exactly. She is trying very hard to cultivate a winning smile. I think a photogenic smile is worth more than anything. Obama used it until everyone started to realize that he’s a light weight.

Look at the last several elections. Even Carter got elected because of his smile.

Appearance matters... it really does. And who was the best at it? Probably Reagan and Clinton.

If Fred were to win the nomination (and I believe he will), were he to name Duncan as his running mate if that would bring some of the nervous nellies like Dobson into the fold. Duncan is as close to the real deal as a conservative could want he would help to solidify the conservative base. If Fred were to do such a thing I’d get a whole lot more excited about his candidacy.

Fred is a nice guy, but he looks constipated and arthritic. His smile is not captivating. Sorry, but this is modern politics and it’s not how you feel or what you have to say, it’s how you look, and Fred doesn’t look marvelous Darling...

Now that's just sad.

Coulter was just on Fox, and softened her stance on Fred considerably.

I agree with what you say. Rudy has made it doubly clear what he would do regarding the appointments of SC justices. They would be like Thomas, Scalia etc.

Yeah sure he would

>>And in Thompson’s case, her dislike of him is centrally based on his vote in the Clinton impeachment, and in my opinion, she is cutting off her nose to spite her face...
.
.
>>I won’t defend his vote, he made the choice as he saw fit. Let him answer to it or not.

He has answered this, and his writings on it are readily available. And the complex reality, as opposed to the commentary here, and from Ann Coulter’s latest, is that there were two articles of impeachment, that Fred well-considered his vote, and voted to impeach on one article, and not to impeach on the other.

His reasoning is extensive, and well-documented in his Senate papers:

Statement by Senator Fred Thompson (R-Tennessee)
http://australianpolitics.com/usa/clinton/trial/statements/thompson.shtml

This writer making the statement “Let him answer to it or not.” is either ignorant of the clear record on this, or disingenuous. Neither is particularly complimentary.

Its been quite some time since someone from the Northeast has been in the White House.

There are VALID reasons for that (mainly because, EVEN the "Republicans" are LIBERAL PIECES-OF-SHIITE).

NO...

It is MOST ASSUREDLY NOT time.

Republicans need to DIFFERENTIATE themselves, in no uncertain terms, from LIBERAL demonRATS, NOT, as RINOS like giuliani demonstrate in their words and track record - be VIRTUAL CLONES of these liberal pukes.

Say NO to ANY and ALL liberals, and MOST ESPECIALLY, LIBERAL RINOS from northeastern-corridor, Bluest-of-Blue, Peoples Republics/Nanny-Police States, like NYC.

I agree with what Ann said on F & F this morning, "Talk is cheap!"

I remember well when we were promised, "Read my lips.......!"

Can we all spell P-A-N-D-E-R? Maybe not, because this quote of Rooty's is all I seem to hear from another NY'er - Sean Hannity!

Fred Thompson has this persona of being some tough guy from his role on L.A. Law, but the tough guy does not carry thru to his real personaltiy.

Haven't we, as conservatives, had enough of 'camera-friendly' presidents? Isn't time to get back to the traditional values we need in the WH and get someone who represents them instead of 'looking good'?

Fred has presence at the podium, but it is not the 'actor' he has been, but the stances and the way he delivers his answers. Any debate with the Beast, he will make her look like the pouting screaming child, while he looks like the patient teacher, and school the Beast on issues.

I see another "there you go again' type moment.

Is your name “Doc H” as in Doctor or is it like “Doch”, the German word roughly translated as “to the contrary”.

By the way, my ears hurt from all your shouting.

Deep seated bitterness

That's one way of looking at it. Another is, because FDT voted to acquit on the perjury charge.

Well, for my money, deep-seated bitterness takes it. Why? Coulter's a lawyer and she could, if she wished, go to the record and critique what FDT wrote on the subject, and yet she hasn't done so. I don't see any point-by-point examination, by Coulter, of Thompson's recorded thinking on the impeachment charges.

What I do see is her sniping at FDT and misrepresenting the facts.

If she can't or won't refute Thompson's conclusions, the animus is not grounded in reason but in something else.

Yeah...I heard her say flat out to ‘vote for Huckabee and NOT Thompson.’ Then she goes out and is dating one the biggest liberals there is. I think something snapped....or she needs more vitamins and minerals.

I don't care how conservative a candidate is, but if they do not look energetic, and vibrant they will not win the election. Hillary is not energetic or vibrant, and she will be easy to beat with an engergetic , vibrant Republican who can KO her in debate.

Another election in the past, remember a wonderful conservative man, who ran against a corrupt democrat, and he lost because he just did not have that extra edge of vitality? Ann is right!
