Fred has taught me a lesson. About what soft-touches we can be. I thinks of dear FRed as the Wizard of Oz -- a good man, but oversold and even unexceptional.

I do want a good, proven, exceptional man.

Today the MSM is cramming Guiliani, the Documentary channel has everything about NYC this morning.

How does a candidate compete against NYC and NYC-phile reporters who want an all NYC left wing race.

Fred is a nice guy, but he looks constipated and arthritic. His smile is not captivating. Sorry, but this is modern politics and it’s not how you feel or what you have to say, it’s how you look, and Fred doesn’t look marvelous Darling...

He can help by rallying the troops and in the end getting them to support someone who will beat Hillary. My only concern is that Dr. Dobson, whom I have always admired, will resurrect a third party anti abortion candidate. That will all but assure Hillary’s election. And then this nation is screwed....

Well, I’m no Coulter fan, but she has the right to her opinion. If she doesn’t like Thompson, so what. Everyone has to make up their own mind about what candidate they’ll be voting for. Listening to so called “experts” is not the way to decide, whether those “experts” be Coulter, Dobson, Rush, or any other conservative pundit.

Ann also criticized Thompson for voting against tort reform (trial lawyers’ voraciou$$ne$$) but I know why he did: He’s against Big Government sticking its Big Nose into local affairs.

But thompson did vote to oust Clinton on obstruction of justice....Coulter got it wrong and apparently the writer of this article got snowed by her smear hit piece against Fred.

I don’t mind Ann not liking Fred because of his Clinton impeachment vote, I do mind her misrepresenting and downright lying about the facts in order to smear him. That article Ann wrote is so lame and so freaking unfair it is on the same level as the media smear against Rush.

I have always liked Ann and just love it when she smashes liberals.....but that is based on the assumption she is doing the bashing based on the truth. Now, with this blatant smear against Fred for all to see, I now have doubts about Ann being truthful in other articles. She does herself no favors with this crap, she certainly does conservatism no favors with this crap, she doesn’t help Duncan Hunter at all with this crap....its just CRAP and very sad to see.

My exit question to her and Dobson is this: Who would you like LEAST in the Whitehouse? Hillary or Fred?

My answer is Hillary. I will vote for whichever Republican wins the nomination. I am not about to cut off my nose to spite my face!

But all this deep seated bitterness on her part is useless. So he cast his essentially wasted vote in line with his principles, not her principles. So what? The point had been made about Clinton and all they were going to get had been done. At best they would have failed with 55 votes which is still a failure...

I don’t like that analogy at all. So another words if someone votes for abortion rights because they know it won’t pass that is ok? Voting for Gay marriage is ok as long as the votes are not there??? Bad example. Fred voted and now has to live with it. We will see how the outcome is. As far as me voting for a candidate??? Well since Pennsylania votes in April 2008....guess what? The primaries will be over by then. If I had the chance to vote it would most certainly be Duncan Hunter, but I know I won’t get that chance unfortunately.

Well, that question would be, "Who do you like LESS," but I quibble.

I agree with you but wonder which of the two front runners Ann is trying to help. I have not picked a candidate for 2008 yet except to say that I am not interested in having to vote for either Mitt or Rudy. But the issues she brought up regarding Fred and Mike were smaller than the issues I had with our current President, and I voted for him twice.

If that's the most she has against those two then I'll take a closer look at them.

Shalom

P.S. None of this to say that I would not ask her to autograph my copy of Godless if I ever had the chance.

Fred Thompson isn’t all bad, but neither is he all good.

The Clinton machine will eat him up for being a Washington lobbyist for 18 years.

The public is looking for an outside the beltway candidate and Hillary is weak on that point, too.

That’s what makes the outsiders as in non-Washington (Giuliani, Romney, Huckabee) guys look good by comparison.

And I’m not worshipping at any of their feet right now. Wow those three have a liberal streak in them, too.

I’ve never watched “Law and Order” regularly like my wife does. I’ve seen some PC monologues from Mariska Hartigay and such. I get the impression the show has a female-type audience so that’s good for Fred.

Whichever candidate we get will have to have an appeal to the female audience out there and Fred along with the three outside Washington guys seem to have credentials in that area.

The Walk on Water Conservatives are going to have to understand there is and never will be a Perfect Candidate. There are parts of Ann’s life that are not Conservative and certainly not Newts. So what, we have some excellent candidates.

Pray for W and Our Troops

As a conservative with a voting record, I am not going to pretentiously posture. How conservative is Fred Thompson? I voted for guys names George Bush six times, four times for President. Fred is more conservative than they.

Americans will revive Constitutional government only AFTER they abandon faith in any party or politician’s ability and will to do so.

When folks wake up to the fact that their government is killing them slowly, perhaps then they will act, or perhaps not.None of the current contenders for the pubby nomination is a Churchill or Reagan - the People are going to have to do the heavy lifting themselves.

>>And in Thompson’s case, her dislike of him is centrally based on his vote in the Clinton impeachment, and in my opinion, she is cutting off her nose to spite her face...
.
.
>>I won’t defend his vote, he made the choice as he saw fit. Let him answer to it or not.

He has answered this, and his writings on it are readily available. And the complex reality, as opposed to the commentary here, and from Ann Coulter’s latest, is that there were two articles of impeachment, that Fred well-considered his vote, and voted to impeach on one article, and not to impeach on the other.

His reasoning is extensive, and well-documented in his Senate papers:

Statement by Senator Fred Thompson (R-Tennessee)
http://australianpolitics.com/usa/clinton/trial/statements/thompson.shtml

This writer making the statement “Let him answer to it or not.” is either ignorant of the clear record on this, or disingenuous. Neither is particularly complimentary.

Yeah...I heard her say flat out to ‘vote for Huckabee and NOT Thompson.’ Then she goes out and is dating one the biggest liberals there is. I think something snapped....or she needs more vitamins and minerals.

I can see NO REASON for everyone to be getting SO UGLY about this entire thing!!

Some must resort to simple name calling because they can’t think of anything intelligent to say.

If you don’t like Fred, fine. Don’t vote for him.

But don’t get so pissy because your candidate isn’t doing as well as you like.

And go ahead... flame away.

I don’t care. I’m sick of the childish behavior.

No one is saying Fred is perfect, but Ann (and some of you) have to face the fact that Rudy is simply not electable. He is pro-abortion and pro-gun-control.

Hillary will destroy him because...

1) Left-wingers will vote for Hillary.
2) Middle America will split about 50-50 between the two.
3) Right wingers will either vote for a 3rd party candidate or will fail to show up in numbers sufficient to defeat Hillary.

IMO, hard-core conservatives will simply refuse en mass to vote for liberal Rudy.

Fred, on the other hand has a fighting chance without regard to a stupid vote or two he may have made.
