Think of the troops in the field when you walk into your polling place.

The reality is that none of the top tier candidates could care less about the troops. If they did, they would have the stones to speak up about China and the fact that China is supplying weapons to our enemies which are in turn being used against our troops.

I don’t want to find a candidate who claims to agree with me. I’d like to see more of a track record.

Rick Perry (R-Texas) ran for re-election as governor and lied to the voters. He didn’t get my vote (I voted ‘Kinky’ Friedman). There was a Libertarian candidate (who didn’t even get to participate in the lone debate) but everyone else was a former (or current) Democrat even if they ran as “independents” or “Republican”.

After the election he renegged on his campaign rhetoric and laughed it off. The Republican voters weren’t happy. I could see through the man.

So I look at who it is, what they are saying, how they are saying it, what they’ve done in the past, etc.

I understand the opposition to Rudy. So oppose him in the primary.

Anyone taking a religious leaders directive on who to vote for, or against as ‘the gospel’ shouldn’t be voting in the first place.

Falme away if you wish.

I think the country would be a happier place if social issues were left to localities. Rural Mississippi doesn't have any more right to impose their social values on San Francisco than SF does Mississippi. This goes for social issues (not constitutional ones) important to both the Left and the Right.

I guess I'm a "keep your nose out of my bedroom" Republican.

What will happen? The same thing that will happen if social conservatives stay home -- a Democrat will win the White House.

And, frankly, if the Republicans can't put forth a conservative candidate that unify the base, that is what should happen.

The “corruption” can be summed up by Ronnie Earle’s partisan prosecution of Tom DeLay and the DNC/Newsmedia’s coordination of the Mark Foley “October Surprise” (which had an ick factor but nothing criminal and was used to paint the entire GOP as a corrupt party that covered it up, knew and did nothing... just like the DNC and the media, at least until it was politically advantageous to notify the public).

See:

“In the Cato Institute’s biannual ranking of governors on fiscal issues, Romney received a grade of only “C.” ....”

The Cato Institute is an open-borders/free-trade Libertarian organization, FOX NEWS carefully didn’t bring up those two favorite libertarian subjects. Instead FOX NEWS just spouts out grades the candidates get as if this were gospel economic conservatism.

FOX NEWS is an open-borders/free-trade zone. I got nothing against Libertarians, other then the fact that they WILL sacrifice their principles, I will not sacrifice mine.

More Americans -- mostly military -- will die if Hillary is president. If you support her in that, stay at home. We grown-ups will try to prevent that from happening.

Which Democrat in the current field could you live with occupying the White House?

More socialism will be the inevitable result.

Isn't that what we got when we all showed up to vote Republican? The GOP's prescription drug entitlement was the biggest-ever expansion of the welfare state, and the GOP exploded federal welfare spending even faster than Carter or Clinton did with Democrat Congresses.

Republicans spend even more money and create more welfare than Democrats. They just do it quietly. They'll continue to do it because they know most Republicans are just 'bots who will keep pressing "R" because they're terrified of gays and illegals.

In Minnesota, those with postgraduate degrees vote Democrat 60/40. Admittedly, the statistic is skewed by the great number of teachers with masters degrees; however, personal experience leads me to assume the figure is even worse in medicine (particularly psychiatry and the cognitive specialties).

The problem is not abortion but fear. Many are voting against not the “religious right” but the “righteous right.”

The fear comes when the educated widely assume politicians are jumping through hoops and writing policy on the basis of the “righteous right’s” beliefs.

People hate to be confined by someone else’s beliefs. Think of trying to hold a baby absolutely quiet. It can be done, but only with consistent effort. There is a natural human tendency to avoid total control by total institutions whether they be from the right or the left.

"They either want the whole loaf, or they’ll wait for next time."

What this self-righteous, dim-bulb doesn't understand is that there may not be a "next time" if the RATS get full control.

We are not talking about people with a "better nature". We are talking about ruthless, vicious and dedicated socialists here. They have incrementalled us for the past 70 years and in the next four years, they will go the rest of the way.

You don't seem to understand that those opposing Giuliani believe that putting him in the White House would be worse than having Hillary Clinton in the White House.

I get the feeling there are quite a few that feel the same way about Mike Huckabee...

I feel the same way. I won’t sit on my hands because of one issue. But you know many will on the abortion issue.

The problem with that though is that if a southern state decides on something, the left from other places come in with lawyers to try to stop us. If we had 50 united countries that could make their own laws this might work but as long as liberal have the Feds ear.....

if the Republicans can't put forth a conservative candidate that unify the base, that is what should happen.

Instead the attempts to ridicule, insult, and intimidate voters into voting for the lesser of two evils just gets louder and more desperate. The enemies list keeps getting longer and nobody learns a thing.

You speak truth, brother.

However, I will keep pressing "R" not b/c of gays and illegals, but b/c I don't want Hugo Chavez in a Pantsuit running the country.

And *NOBODY* was more angry than i over Pills for Grandma. Problem is there is no viable 3rd party candidate. Most of the populace is too dumb for a representative democracy. Third parties only work w/ educated voters.

That's why we have the ever expanding welfare state we have.
