"yup makes pistols obsolete"

I'd take a pistol over this pile of metal any day. Note the umbilical cord running off to a separate power source. Incredibly not practical.

I would shoot the guy behind the robot, carrying the stupid tether cable.

This could change society as we know it.

A roofer could do a roof in 1/2 a day. Hell, any construction worker could double, even triple their productivity.

Old people could get their strength and speed back.

Factory workers already are being replaced by robots, but these things would find their way into every job. Just think about loading a truck. where the human is needed to plan the load.

Walking could replace vehicles.

Need more brainstorming. These were right off the top of my head.

The interesting and immediate applications are not so much front-line things, but rather logistical tasks. Bomb-loading, and stuff like that.

Amazing technology.

That is a really cool picture, with some wildly disparate elements. A barefoot black woman in overalls holding an 1891-30 Mosin-Nagant rifle.

This is the kind of stuff we'd get from the artsy-fartsy crowd if they were gun nuts (I think).

Pair one of these up with software that has learning capability, and you could create generic robots that could be "trained" to do all sorts of different tasks. The only difficulty would be sensors to recognize the work pieces.

No, dear boy---that's what the WANT, not what they have. This fiasco suffers from the same problem that electric cars do--batteries don't hold sufficient energy to get the job done. The only place I see this as being practical is for handling cargo, where the exoskeleton can be hooked up to "wall power".

its the first picture that popped up the image search

this weapons system makes your own firearms obsolete

and the only way you could be able to match that firepower is if your an industrial complex

meaning your “homedefense”, and 2nd amendemnt just went the way of the dinosaurs

unless someone invents a crossbow again, but you still would have to learn to shoot objects moving towards you at 25miles per hour while firing God knows what

I think the human IS the sensors, and the machine does the work.

Any job that fatigue is a limiting factor would be redesigned. The human would not need to rest.
