Amateurs Unravel Russias Last Royal Mystery

Czar Nicholas II of Russia, his wife, Alexandra, wearing crown, and their children in 1914, four years before they were killed.

YEKATERINBURG, Russia On the outskirts of this burly industrial center, off a road like any other, on a nowhere scrap of land here unfolded the final act of one of the last centurys most momentous events.
Excavations were done near Yekaterinburg in September. An archaeologist oversaw the search.
A short way through a clearing, toward a cluster of birch trees, the killers deposited their victims bodies, which had been mutilated, burned and doused with acid to mask their origins. It would be 73 more years, in 1991, before the remains would be reclaimed and the announcement would ring out: the grave of the last Russian czar, Nicholas II, and his family had been found.
But the story does not end there.
Eleven people were said to have been killed that day in July 1918 on Lenins orders. Just nine sets of remains were dug up here and then authenticated using DNA. The remains of the czars son, Aleksei, and one daughter, whose identity is still not absolutely clear, were missing. Did their bones lie elsewhere, or could it actually be that they had escaped execution, as rumor had it for so long?
Only in the past few months have these questions dating from the Russian revolution apparently been resolved here, and only by a group of amateur sleuths who spent their weekends plumbing the case. In fact, it appears that the clues to what happened to the two children were always there, waiting to be found.

The Romanovs - The Last Russian Royal Family
In July 1991, nine bodies were exhumed from a shallow grave just outside Ekaterinburg, Russia. Circumstantial evidence, along with mitochondrial DNA sequencing and matches, gave strong evidence to the remains being those of the Romanovs, the last Russian Royals who were executed on July 18, 1918. The following sequences for Tsar Nicholas II, his cousin, Count Nicholai Trubetskoy, Tsarina Alexandra, and Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, are taken from Bryan Sykes book, "The Seven Daughters of Eve."
Name Haplo mtDNA Sequence
Tsar Nicholas Romanov T 16126C, 16169Y*, 16294T, 16296T 73G, 263G, 315.1C
Count Trubetskoy T 16126C, 16169Y, 16294T, 16296T 73G, 263G, 315.1C
*The Tsar's sequence contains a new mutation at position 169, a state referred to as heteroplasmy - the existence of more than one mitochondrial type in the cells of an individual, i.e., the presence of both normal and mutant mtDNA in a single individual. The remains of his brother, Grand Duke of Russia, Georgij Romanov were exhumed, and the results were identical to the Tsar's, including the heteroplasmy at 16169Y. Mitosearch: DQR2R
Name Haplo mtDNA Sequence
Tsarina Alexandra H 16111T, 16357C 263G, 315.1C
Prince Philip H 16111T, 16357C 263G, 315.1C
Tsarina Alexandra, the three children buried with her, and Prince Philip's mitochondrial DNA were an exact match on 740 tested nucleotides. Mitosearch: 2ZACX
Stanford University's, Alec Knight's 2003 paper, "Molecular, forensic and haplotypic inconsistencies regarding the identity of the Ekaterinburg remains" presents a conclusion that the identity of the Ekaterinburg remains has not been established.
(FYI, mtDNA haplogroup H is the most common in Europe.)
A truly handsome royal family unlike some that remain today.
This is not passing the smell test.
lol true.
I agree.
Including Mr. Pissov I expect.
The lip...
Drives the babes wild!
I am not so sure about that--the ending part.
At least we can hope the Romanovs,as members of the Church, will have their reward in Heaven. And the murdering thugs that abused a nation and reason face the Almighty's judgment.

Thanks Blam. Glad to see that the fiction of Anna Anderson's being Anastasia is given short shrift. |

“Russia’s highest court on Thursday refused to recognize the executed last czar Nicholas II and his family as victims of political repression — a ruling Kremlin critics said was dictated by the government’s reluctance to condemn the bloodiest chapters of the country’s Communist past.”
It is important to note that the habsburg jaw was to some extent an artist’s creation. When called upon to paint ancient ancestors, or to repair paintings of ancient ancestors, the artists would have every incentive to make their result strongly resemble the fellow who paid the bills.
Mules always claim their ancestors are horses, but a few donkeys seem to make their presence known.
Cleon Skoussen covered this history nice in his book the Naked Communist. This book is out of print but shows up on Amazon or eBay now and then. I really recommend efforts to find and read it.

EXCERPTS FROM NAKED COMMUNIST
Nope, not the end. Hillary is here.
Thanks for the extra links. I missed those threads.
This might be hard to believe, but two words are noticeably absent from this story. Those words are communist and communism.
