--SNIP-- The gardener, Giovanni Rivera, was attacked in June by a German shepherd named Congo and four other dogs at a Princeton home where he did landscaping. Charges were filed against the family who owned the dogs, and Rivera received an insurance settlement of $250,000. --SNIP--

James contends the men showed up early when the dogs were eating, and disregarded his calls for them to stay in their vehicle. He said Congo attacked Rivera after the panicked gardener grabbed his wife from behind and pulled her down, causing her to scream

I consider my dogs to be the equivalent of firearms. They are there to protect my family.

That’s right. Equivalent to firearms. And would you use your firearms against landscapers who showed up to do a job you contracted them to do?

You could say the same about the dog. But dogs can’t talk.

Can’t say for sure but looks like another idiot illegal alien scoring big from his stupidity. Do ya think he will pay his hospital bills from his $250,000 payday?

Illegal immigrants should not be allowed to sue here

Interesting opinion. Do you think the hospital should not be allowed to sue the patient for its portion of the damages because he's an illegal?

If they assaulted my husband? In a heartbeat.

I would if one of them threw my wife to the ground. I’d be filing charges against the guy, since he survived. I’m normally not big on suing , but I’d also pursue a suit against the temp agency for all the mental anguish the family is going through.

Read the article and related ones that have been posted. Yes, dog, gun, or baseball bat up side that illegal's head if he so much as touched my family. He and that idiot judge needs some time behind bars.

This story was a hot topic on New Jersey radio stations a couple of weeks back. There may be more to the story than what's been posted here -- especially in terms of conflicting accounts from eyewitnesses about what really happened that day.

In any case, this story has such a "New Jersey" ring to it. People here are living in the most dysfunctional, corrupt sh!t-hole in this country outside of New Orleans -- and someone's dog gets more attention and sympathy than a child under a death sentence would get in this state.

Of course illegal aliens should not be allowed to sue since they should not even be in this country. One should commit a crime at their own risk.

Did you read the story? the illegal grabbed the man’s wife from behind and caused her to scream out in fear. The dogs did their job at that point. What would you reasonably expect them to do,stand there and watch?

We had a saleswoman literal try to climb on top of my wife’s head one time, when our dog came walking up (no barking, no growling, no teeth, didn’t even crotch check the saleswoman).

At the point that the woman jumped on my wife's chest, our dog went nuts, but did not bite here because I was right there.

In my opinion, the saleswoman showed extremely bad judgment and created a dangerous situation.

Thank you for the post, as it explains something that has been nagging at me for a couple of months.

A good friend now lives in NJ. She stopped by for a visit in September and at some point the conversation touched on the Newark playground murders of the Delaware students. My friend stated calmly that the story was not getting a lot of media play (granted she doesn’t live in Newark itself). I couldn’t understand that until I read your post.

I wish she would move out, but her work demands a base close to NYC.
