ping!
I heard the interview this morning, and I sort of felt like on several questions, Thompson really didn’t seem to grasp what Glenn was asking.
I know Glenn can be sort of cryptic and leading in his questions, but in particular, Fred seemed to dodge most of Glenn’s questions regarding foreign and corporate erosion of our sovereignity, or simply didn’t understand the question.
He was prolly just tired.
IE - you can ask a candidate about Iran and if he wants to talk about global warming, you will get a global warming answer.
Nice....
I don’t see much confusion while reading the above. Made sense to me.
LOL, Glenn is a bit on the hyper side.
Like he did to Romney. He apologized for asking tough questions.
Reading the transcript, I don't see that -- it looks like (with one exception) Thompson gave an answer on every question he was asked.
Fred seemed to dodge most of Glenns questions regarding foreign and corporate erosion of our sovereignity, or simply didnt understand the question.
Beck bundled three questions together (Ramon/Campos and why let Mexico dictate to us were the other two) -- Thompson answered the other two, and then Beck ended the interview.
Seriously, he’s been diagnosed with adult ADD. His staff always noticed that he got “off track” easily so they encouraged him to be tested. He tried the meds for awhile (this was a few years back) and he hated them, so he just deals with it. He was very open and frank about it at the time, and now, of coure, jokes about it, but he does have a diagnosis.
I didn’t catch it, but unless you listen to Glenn a lot it’s hard to follow where he’s going. Now if Fred was listening daily he probably would be able to jump in and answer.
The fact that you listened to the interview means you’re probably a regular listener of sorts so you’re right there with him.
Kind of like calling Rush and saying Ditto...an infrequent listener may not know what it means.
Oh, boy. The transcript reads like any interview with any other politician. Strokes are given, hot buttons are pushed, and fences are straddled.
Not very reaganesque, I’m afraid.
Good stuff. The only thing I can disagree with is the 15% jump in tax rate from making more than $50K as an individual and $100K as a family. Doesn’t seem very fair. But hey, that’s still less than I pay now. So, of course I’d support it.
I’m living in Europe at the moment, so all I have to keep up with the Republican nomination race is the Internet.
I don’t know what the hell is going on with my countrymen: We ask for candidates of substance, and we get them, in the guise of Thompson, Tancredo, Hunter, and (to some extent) Paul. We decry the “circus” to which we are subjected every four years, but we punish candidates who speak from principle and not from poll data.
I will vote for Thompson, and donate to his campaign, though from here I can do nothing else. All my hopes for the future of our Republic rest with Fred Thompson.
I agree. I did not hear it, but it read very well. It included a lot of substance and I hope a lot of people who listened are considering him, if they were not before.
ADD...that explains why he isn’t able to follow up with good questions. He’s already working on his next question and not really listening.
Oh I didn’t know that. I only listen occasionally.
I must have read a different interview from the one you heard.
