ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. A woman stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife following an argument that began when she accused him of opening a Christmas present early, authorities said Friday.
Misty Johnson, 34, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and battery, a felony, and misdemeanor domestic battery. Her husband, Shawn Fay Johnson, 34, was treated at a hospital for a wound to the chest, police said.
Authorities said Shawn Johnson called 911 just before 1 a.m. Wednesday to report that his wife had stabbed him. He told police that his wife started arguing with him over his opening a Christmas present, according to court records.
As the argument escalated, Misty Johnson accused her husband of having an affair, authorities said. Police found a marriage license in the couple's apartment stating they were married in late September.
Police Detective David Thompson said he didn't know what the present was, or if it was intended for the husband.

you know you might be living in strange times if...
I used to live in the neighboring town where this happened. Sweetwater County, Baby!
Aww, their first fight.
Whoa! A real Christmas moment eh...
(There ain’t no Sanity Clause)
Last week I would have read this article and more than likely not have commented on it. But a couple of days ago, my little brother was stabbed by his live in girlfriend because of an argument, that started out because dinner was not ready when he got home...add a few beers and now my brother is dead. He was 49 years old.
What is happening in this world? Has life become so cheap? Both of our families have been devastated by the course of events this week and we are at a loss to make sense of all of this. Please, I implore you all to take your loved ones and hold them close. Express your love for them and make the most of the time given to you, to cherish and to edify them.
Our Christmas will be spent mourning the loss of a beloved brother/father/grandfather/son. The other family will be coming to grips knowing that their mother/sister/daughter took a man’s life. A tragedy all the way around.
I guess that is all I have to say........
Enforcing Christmas Justice
You could be weak on the concept of Christmas if . . .
I’m so sorry — how terrible.
Words fail me, except that I am sorry for your loss.
I am truly sorry for your loss. People must live to the expectation of a higher discipline and power. May God give you healing during this terrible time.
Our condolences on your loss.
I’ll admit, I laughed when I read the first couple sentences of this article. Then, after reading your post, it reminded me that these people have brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, and children. And I feel terrible.
In a way, I don’t think that life has become cheaper, we have always lived in a brutal world, where people become wrapped up in themselves, and forget those around them. I don’t think anyone is innocent in that (especially not myself), we have all at one time thought of ourselves, when we should have thought of others first. It is an extremely sad fact of life, but as we look at our world, no matter the year (today, 1000 AD, or 1000 BC) this influence has always been there, all the way back to Cain and Abel.
Im not too sure what I’m trying to say, other than that I pray God comforts you and your family in your time of loss. There is no better piece of advice than yours, to love and cherish those around you. God bless you and yours, I know it must be extraordinarily difficult to have had to endure such a tragedy.
Gee, I wonder if they’re alcoholics or speed freaks.
Or maybe both.
I’m so sorry for your tragic loss. May our Heavenly Father surround the you and all of the loved ones with peace and comfort.
Lennie,
I so very much want to write something that might help or comfort you in some way, but words fail me.
I have stared at this screen for several minutes and I just can’t find the words...they all seem unimportant, not enough, and clumsy.
May God give you strength and healing. May your brother rest in peace.
Lennie..I am very sorry for your horrible loss.
I am very sorry about your brother. May God bless and keep him and comfort your family.
I share your sorrow and pain. To lose someone as close as a brother is sad, yet the Good Lord has a way of helping us heal if we only ask for it. May He comfort you and yours in this tme of sorrow, and my prayers will include your family.
