"Truth Squad: Response to Misleading Club For Growth Attack Ad" is a misleading lead in for a blatant Huckabee campaign release.

This stuff is fouling the debate and boring those of us who have no ulterior motives in attending.

Forget taxes. We are in a war.

Huckabee’s ignorance over and over, on international topics proves he is unqualified period.

This party and the conservative movement have lost their collective ever-loving minds if being a Baptist preacherman is a qualification.

No offense to Baptists. Or to preachermen.
Just not as part of the Presidential selection.

Taxing bread should be the first order of business. It contains gluten, a known poison.

When it comes to deciding between the veracity of the Club For Growth versus the Huckster, it takes nanoseconds. The CFG has had an excellent record backing candidates who firmly believe in reducing the size and scope of govt as opposed to this Big govt Clinton clone.

Taxes on groceries, gasoline, nursing home beds, cigarettes, beer, and sales taxes are regressive taxes.

Why stop there?

Surely regression can be a good thing.

They affect those of the lowest incomes the most.

They may be of the lowest income but their vote is still as important as a billionaire's.

They may back candidates who "believe" all sorts of things. Now, how is their track record in backing candidates who, when elected, actually did reduce the scope and scale of government.

Remember, a wish and $1.86 will get you a venti at the Springfield Starbucks.

“They may be of the lowest income but their vote is still as important as a billionaire’s.”

And thus they should be taxed at a higher proportion of their means than a billionaire?

The Club for Growth provides sources.

Where are Huckabee’s records?

The Huckabee file: tough to check

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2007/12/the-huckabee-fi.html

Increasingly buffeted by attacks coming from the Mitt Romney camp (here’s one of the latest), Mike Huckabee on Saturday responded in part by repeatedly urging reporters covering his Republican presidential campaign in Iowa to examine the details of his 10 years as governor of Arkansas.

One problem: His gubernatorial records are not publicly available.

Electronic records were destroyed by his aides as he left office (more about that here). And the paper records were donated to his college alma mater, which has not made them available.

The Times’ Joe Mathews visited that school, Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark., where officials denied him access to the records and referred him to an attorney for Huckabee. Efforts to reach the attorney were unsuccessful.

When Mathews, at a campaign stop Saturday in Indianola, Iowa, asked Huckabee about the lack of access, one of the candidate’s media aides intervened. “We’re done here,” she said, and escorted her boss from the room.

Certainly tax issues were reported in the public press and actions were taken in the legislature.

That's what this discussion has been about ~ no other issue ~ taxes and spending, pure and simple.

Are you telling us the Club for Growth doesn't have anybody on the staff who can read newspapers?

Incentive to work to become a billionaire.

After all, not many billionaire's live in need of financial support provided as a gift from others to survive but pay over 70% of their labor into government support.

What are you talking about?!!!!!!!

I posted the link to their white paper on Huck with LOTS of specific references. Why don’t you read that?

There are many innocent Americans who are subjected to gluten poisoning every day. It can result in intestinal cancer.

(See Celiac).

Just changing your perspective and getting your attention ~ I could care less if bread were taxed.

I read it. The complaint in the post to which I was responding was that there are no public records anyone can access to find out what went on with taxes and spending in Arkansas while the Huck was Governor.

I think that claim is preposterous ~ the newspapers covered all that sort of stuff.

Why won’t Huckabee release his gubernatorial records, for all to see?

Shades of Kerry running on his self-proclaimed record in Vietnam, but refusing to release them to the public.

Huckabee claims to run on his record, but when questions arise, he refuses to release his actual records.

Seems to me there's a public record that's quite easy to read ~ it's in the newspapers ~ and all the newspapers in Arkansas despise the man.

Certainly you can find all the stuff you need to knock him out of the race in the newspapers.

As far as legislation he signed to change tax laws or approve annual budgets, or authorize spending, those are LEGISLATIVE records and readily available.

Just exactly what kind of records are you looking for and what do you expect to find in them?

Trader Joe's now carries a gluten free chocolate cake. The daughter-in-law picked one up for me today. It's fantastic!

Now, for some lactose free ice-cream!

I'll be feeling normal shortly.
