I got the idea that they were saying that the blast forcibly threw her head into that mechanism (on the car) and drove a big gash in her head, causing her death. At least, that’s the idea I got from the government’s story.

Wasn’t it Musharaff (or the government) who made the offer to do that — if — the family would request it? If I understood the situation right, it seems that Musharaff will have it done, but that the family has to make the request.

Now, at this point, I wonder if the family really wants to make the request, because it seems that if they want the political situation to favor them, they would rather have the exact nature of the killing of Bhutto be very vague and “muddy” — so that they could make up all sorts of stories to benefit themselves (and the political party).

So, my guess is that they family will not want to “clarify” the situation, because that would serve to “take away the steam” from the political situation, which they are hoping will benefit themselves (politically speaking).

I didn't notice that, but it does raise the suspicion that in these days of technology, you can fiddle with videos. Unlike original film from a camera, an electronic image is infinitely manipulable. So we are reduced to relying on these damned news people for our evidence. And we've all seen where THAT leads.

I'd like to have some forensic specialists examine the body.

I just saw it on tv, it was hard to tell for sure. They did show the crank on the sunroof, and there was no blood on it. If it was from the same vehicle :-(. After so many permutations of the "official" version, it is hard not to be suspicious. Also there was a doctor who said there were bullet wounds in her head.

I wouldn't have seen it if my daughter hadn't turned on the tv and yelled at me to come see it.

Well, hey..., I went into that fact, yesterday on another thread, when someone mentioned it. First of all, the ones posted here on Free Republic have not had any problems with them. There are no reports of that from anyone here.

Then secondly, and what I talked about before (yesterday) was that if one had a Macintosh (which I do) that you’re not going to find any kind of problem with your computer (i.e., a Macintosh).

Someone else brought up some warnings from several anti-virus software manufacturers, and I pointed out that these companies can’t hardly sell any of their anti-virus software to any Macintosh users, because nothing ever happens in the way of viruses with Macintosh. So, they have been on a long campaign to try and scare all the Macintosh users into buying their software. However they are failing miserably, because no one ever gets a virus on a Macintosh... LOL!

I’m not an expert on Muslim beliefs, but I think they believe in burying the body quickly and that they may have rules against digging it up again. But I don’t really know.

Bhutto and her family are half secular westerners, having gone to British universities and all that, but they may not want to offend Muslim popular opinion.

So, yes, Musharref made the offer, if the Bhutto family wants to do it. They would need to make the request and give the permission. But I don’t know whether that would be practical or not in a hotbed of fanaticism like Pakistan. And, as you suggest, political advantage rather than family feelings or desire for the truth will probably govern on both sides.

Looks to me like she was struck twice, once in the head and once lower, perhaps on the neck or shoulder. IMO, it's senseless and weird that the government doesn't just disclose this. What's the difference if she was assassinated by a bullet, a bomb blast, or a fractured skull. She was as assassinated nonetheless.

In addition, with an accomplice, the attack was obviously conspiracy and not the work of a lone crazy. Given a conspiracy, I'm sure the gunman who was chosen had had A LOT of practice. Three taps from ten feet away would easily result in two head shots, again IMHO.

Certainly I'm not an expert, but I watched it about a dozen times frame by frame and it seems to me the bullet might have passed though the scarf by the angle the scarf projected.

He fired three shots, first one didn't seem to hit anything, the second shot was the one that made her scarf move up, the third shot came after she started ducking down or falling down. It's hard to tell.

Look at her left temple at 1:16/17 into the video. You can see rapid movement of her veil outward from her head at the moment of impact. After the second shot strikes her, her body drops straight down and into the vehicle.
