Bush won't visit Yasser Arafat's tomb

Bush won't visit Yasser Arafat's tomb Khaled Abu Toameh , THE JERUSALEM POST Jan. 1, 2008

Palestinian Authority officials on Monday expressed deep disappointment after learning that US President George W. Bush, who is expected to visit Ramallah soon, does not intend to lay a wreath at Yasser Arafat's tomb.

Bush, who is also expected to visit Jericho and Bethlehem, does not even plan to pass near the tomb.

On the eve of Bush's visit, the PA announced that its security forces in the West Bank had thwarted a suicide bombing in Israel.

PA Information Minister Riad al-Malki said a Hamas would-be suicide bomber was arrested shortly before he was due to set out on his mission. The PA security forces also seized a videotape featuring the would-be bomber that was supposed to have been released after the attack, he said.

Malki reiterated claims that last Friday's shooting attack in the Hebron Hills, in which two Israelis were killed, was "criminally motivated." He said the PA security forces had arrested the perpetrators and seized the rifles they took from their victims, two off-duty soldiers.

"A group of young men carried out the attack in order to take the weapons of the two settlers," Malki said. "Our forces pursued them, arrested them and returned the weapons to the Israelis."

Bush would not stop by Arafat's newly-built mausoleum during his visit to Ramallah, a source in the US Consulate in Jerusalem told The Jerusalem Post. The PA has invested millions of dollars in building the mausoleum in the Mukata "presidential" compound.

What, they won't let Bush attend the tomb of Arrafat, so he can urinate on it?

Shame!

Why is he putting his life in the hands of Palestinians?

That my FRiend, is the $64,000 question.

Were he still alive, Jeffrey Dahmer armed with a complete set of Mr. Goodwrench tools and knives from Bob Vila, would be a safer dinner guest for the President than to be trusting the Palestinians for ANYTHING.

If a Palestinian tells you the time, check your watch not once, but twice:

Once to see if you still have it on your wrist, Twice because you can't trust those lyin' lil SOBs.

Kudos to George for not paying respects to the founder of modern terrorism (Arafat), but he should really look elsewhere for a legacy.

The PA has invested millions of dollars in building the mausoleum...

I'm so pleased to hear that my taxes went to pay for this. The scumbag didn't even have the class to use some of the billion dollars he stole from the "Palestinian people" to pay for his own burial. President Bush should fly Air Force One overhead and order the latrine tanks emptied onto Arafat's grave.

I guess there will be more security people on this trip and in and around Bush than ants on an ant hill. It would not surprise me one bit that the Muzzie suicide bombers are lining up to try to blow him up. They are probably killing each other to be first in line to try to kill Bush and company with a bomb. This is going to be a dangerous time for everyone in and around this get together.

He does read the Bible. Every year. Over and over.

There are different reactions to certain aspects of the Bible, as I am sure you must know. There are those who believe that Jews (of the tribe of Judah and Benjamin, so what about the rest of Israel?...but I digress) are entitled to the land with its original boundaries forever, no matter what.

There are those who believe that God’s grant was conditional and not in perpetuity unless certain conditions were met by the land’s occupants. Hence the long stretches of time when the land was emptied of its original inhabitants and occupied by others or has laid in ruins.

Modern day Israel is a haven for Jews from Hitler’s holocaust and other nations’ persecution of Jews. Its charter rests on its establishment and recognition by major nations just after World War II. I do not wish to argue about it. I have my views and apparently you have your differing ones.

The President is entitled to his without people virtually screaming to his face a slogan that virtually accuses him of not reading the Bible. As pointed out, I know that to be a lying accusation.

He is dealing with Israel as an ally and key player in a terrible, dangerous region. He is dealing with Israel as a nation which shares many of our values. He is accutely aware of the holocaust and never wants to see its like again. Whether or not he believes God gave it to Israel forever, no matter what, I don’t know and don’t care.

If Israel, a sovereign nation, wants to make agreements with its Palestinian and other enemies regarding the land, I will hold Israel accountable for whatever it does, not George W Bush. They are not some tiny baby whose fate is not in its own hands.

BTW, there are elements in scripture that indicate there is a physical Israel AND a spiritual Israel, and those who are Christians read their Bibles to say that the Christian Church is being referred to when spiritual Israel is referenced...in most instances. Some Christians believe physical Israel is included in that, no matter what physical Israel does or what century it does it in, and other Christians believe it references the Christian Church, period, with the exception of those Jews who acknowledge Jesus Christ.

WADR to your attempt at a “reasoned” reply, you can keep your replacement theology and wave it at the jihadis who will take the surrender by corrupt leftist “leaders” in “Israel, a sovereign nation” (with the encouragement by an arabist U.S. state dept advising Pres Bush) simply as further incentive to attack America and the rest of the Judeo-Christian west.
