We begin by recalling the profound words of Ronald Reagan at the Conservative Political Action Conference Feb. 15, 1975: “A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency or simply to swell its numbers.” We believed that then, and we believe it now. The issue for us -- and for the conservative community -- boils down to which of the candidates is most representative of the fundamental conservative principles we believe in. The answer is Fred Thompson.

Speaking as just a Southerner, I am ashamed that Lindsey Graham is from SC. I have many relatives around Greer and Woodruff who feel the same way. I sure hope Fred makes a good show! I’m getting nervous about this.

I’m not the only one that sees the similarities. Huck is too naive for his own good. Setting a rapist free only to cross the border and kill even when women were pleading don’t let him go is Jimmy Carter naive. Just because the guy had been castrated was enough for Huck to have compassion, naive compassion. Sorry, that’s dangerous.

I lived through the Carter years and remember them all too well. Jimmy had good intentions, Huck has good intentions. Good intentions will ruin the economy and let the terrorists come here and kill us.

I hate Jimmy Carter - hate being too soft a word. Huckabee has many of the same flaws, and would be bad for all of us.

The original question: 'is the Human Events endorsement a big deal?' I say no.

Why? Human Events is almost an unknown publication outside of political activism. Such an endorsement doesn't even register with the populus.

Since I have been a Fred supporter since day one, I'm looking for endorsements that will boost his candidacy. This one doesn't even count one way or another.

Duncan Hunter is much more solidly in line with my thinking on all top tier issues for me, that’s why. To each his own, I suppose. On the real deal breaker (because it has so much to do with the FUTURE of our Republic and our ability to even thwart massive Democrat voter fraud that would seal their power for infinity—illegal immmigration—he actually has a strong record of accomplishment.

Exposing the perfidy of a pastor is not only (in this case) good politics but a moral necessity—call it causing a Jim Bakker BS backlash—named for the last mendacious preacher exposed in our state.Word is out about the “devout” who is a lying lout.
But even if Fred gets the born-agains of SC to see Huck for the fraud he is McCain may still win our state with more help from the left than usual.And here’s how.
Normally the Dems and Repubs hold their primaries in SC on the same day.I would go to my polling place (a nearby RFD) and the candidates of both parties would be in the machines.
I have voted GOP ever since Carter in ‘76 (my bad)except the year W was running unopposed for re-election.I voted for Lieberman then just in case W lost (Joe lost of course and got on JF’nK’s ticket).
This year the GOP primary is next Saturday and the Dems over a week later.If Hillary decides Obama is going to win SC (remember,next to Mississippi,we have the largest,as a percentage,black population in America),she will have all her people vote next Saturday for McCain or Huck depending on who needs the most help.Then she will publicaly call on her SC supporters (what few left that haven’t voted yet at any rate) to vote for Obama as a goodwill gesture for all the racial insensitivity she and her husband have displayed recently.
Ain’t it amazing how wildly speculative you can get with the Clintons and still remain credible?

I don’t know how much of an impact this will have overall. But it is meaningful to me. I think Human Events is probably the best, and most longstanding, voice of conservatism there is. Ronald Reagan seemed to think so to.
