We urge Republican Party faithfuls to stand up and vote for Mitt Romney. Although technically not a home state "favorite son," his ties to Michigan are strong.
...
Meanwhile, Mitt Romney certainly has the credentials to run the country. He is a former Massachusetts governor who turned that state's economy around and proved to be a more than able leader.
...
Romney has already garnered support from some prominent local leaders.
Oakland County lawmakers endorsing him include state Reps. John Stakoe, RHighland Township; Marty Knollenberg, R-Troy; Chuck Moss, R-Birmingham; James Marleau, R-Lake Orion; John Garfield, R-Rochester Hills; Craig DeRoche, R-Novi; and Fran Amos, RWaterford Township; and state Sen. Nancy Cassis, R-Novi.
His backers also include Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson; state House Republican Leader Craig DeRoche, R-Novi; and Oakland County Republican Party Chairman Dennis Cowan.
Looking at the obvious, Romney entered the 2008 race with impressive backing in Michigan, and his ties to the state are undeniable. He has firsthand knowledge of the auto industry and its importance to Michigan.
Equally critical, Romney knows how to get a state out of debt and, being from Michigan, he certainly has an empathy for the state that the other candidates, both GOP and Democratic, don't have.
With Michigan's horrible economy and other problems, we need as much clout in Washington as possible and Romney promises to give us that.
...
But there's no doubt whom state Republicans should vote for - Mitt Romney.

Romney is just as sorry an individual as Hillary is as far as I am concerned. Worse actually. If he had an ounce of honesty in him he would be running as a dem and quit trying to hide what he is. Liberal POS.
If this isn't one of the greatest lessons from these primaries this year (besides all polls and media support should be taken with a grain of salt!), I do not know what is. It is offensive to have liberal independents and Democrats picking our delegates and in the end our Republican party candidate. Absolutely offensive and wrong.
I don't care whom every last FReepers likes or dislikes as a candidate, to each his own, but having liberal Independents and Democrats voting in our primaries should outrage all of us.

While she was running for office???
Great selection of candidates we have this year....not!

Flame away if you must, but Mitt Romney is a solid leader.

Make all the promises you have to.
McCain does not understand dynamics of economy. He thinks cutting taxes but not spending will increase budget deficits. He does not understand that cutting taxes stimulates growth in the economy thereby resulting in net gain to the US Treasury. This has proven itself over and over starting with JFK, then Reagan and now Bush-43.
Huckabee has no background in economics. His college education consists of divinity college and he did not even graduate.
Only two candidates I see competent to handle economy for the better are Romney & Thompson. Romney has proven success in turning failing companies around and Thompson has the right ideas.
The question is, are the unwashed masses smart enough to realize who is best for them? I won’t hold my breath.
I’ll be voting Thompson come Tuesday no matter what any paper urges me to do.
KOS surely is not afraid of a crazy like John McCain who has zero personality and lower likability than Hillary and the clown Mike Huckabee who might do okay in a tryout for a standup comic.
I saw Laura Ingraham on O’Reilly this evening and she said some extremely positive things about Romney. Laura said that Romney has actually managed a business in real life and was a Governor, something that is unique among the candidates. Laura also said that Romney has not been talking enough about his strengths. She mentioned the emerging markets of China and India and that we are dealing with complicated economic issues. Romney is the only candidate with international business experience who understands global markets.
I know the idea of economics can be a little dry and boring, but "it is the economy stupid." Anyway, that's my 2 cents!
Congrats to Mitt on the endorsement!
I agree with you. No flaming here. Typically, it is former Governors who end up being elected as POTUS.
Actually in the polls I’ve seen he does not seem poll so well among women in general. I would say that’s an area he needs to work on.
I have soured on him for similar reasons ... I no longer see in him a principled individual. Rather, I see an opportunist who has stretched the truth too far and too often.
No way does he get my vote in the primary. I will vote for him if he is our nominee but I sure hope he isn't. In addition to the above, he is unelectable.
You are wrong there. Hillary has the highest negative rating of anyone, while McCain has the highest net favorable rating of all candidates (check Rasmussen). McCain has ‘zero personality’? You’re certainly entitled to that opinion but have you watched the debates?
If he polls so well with women, why are his state by state poll numbers so terrible??
If the election were today and he were the nominee, we'd lose some of the reddest states. Like Kansas. No major GOP candidate polls worse than Mitt.
I used to think this was solely religious bigotry, but I have come to the conclusion that it is more than that.
It's not dry to me :)It matters and he is amazing in his understanding of what we face.
We could do worse than put a very smart and decent man in the White House with a lovely first lady. We could have the First Laddie. Ugh.
