I do not disagree.
Call me a sentimental sap. But, when I see folk like Western stand up, I tend to see them as kindred.
When ever one of these folk stand up and declare themselves, I find myself wanting to encourage them. Stand with them. Count them as among those I consider my own.
Part of me looks forward to watching the cities of Europe burn on live TV. I’m just heard hearted and sour that way. But another part of me rejoices whenever one of them stands up and declares himself against our common foe.
Rally to the spears and stand. Hard times are coming to us all.
Ad Triarios Redisse!
No.
The EU is a ‘potential’ super power that presently is failing to take its full global responsibility as such a power.
Furthermore, many Europeans are very isolationist, even more isolationist than the US was prior to Pearl Harbor.
Despite what happened in Madrid and London and despite the fact that a lot of sons and daughters of my continent are participating in the WOT at a close range, most Europeans view the WOT as a conflict between USA and some lunatics hiding in caves.
As Europeans, the least thing we could do is to care just a little bit more than so about people who actually risk their own lives on a daily basis.
Still, nurturing hope for Europe is not in vain.
For generations, we Europeans have endured downright hell and maybe that’s why we don’t bother too much about present tragedies that actually ought to concern us more.
Just like we, as individuals, are stronger than we think ourselves and other people view us to be, continents of millions might just be stronger than what we sometimes believe.
After all, Europe survived WWII like my Viking ancestors survived catching a cold.
Triumph in the WOT and a new renaissance of Western Civilization?
- Let’s do it.
Best of regards from Gothenburg, Sweden!
You keep on keeping on.
This is going to be a long war and it wont be over with Iraq and Afghanistan, either.
This is an endurance event. Keep it up. Keep pushing. Keep shouting. Even when it feels useless and for no purpose.
Do not allow anyone, ever, to preach futility or despair to you.
Never quit.
Best regards to you too.
To put it another way, can Sweden generate the political leadership necessary to step up to the status of serious international player? Scandinavia has quietly been growing and amassing wealth and developing the technological resources and infrastructure to become a force in the world, for the first time in what-- a couple hundred years? But will there be a leader with the charisma and vision to take you to that next level? I hope so. The West will need everything it has to resist and repel the encroaching flood of barbarism.
Its about the future of civilization on the entire planet and the history of the civilized world.”
- The good news is that a lot of Europeans are beginning to wake up in many areas of vital importance.
Look at France. Sarkozy is a major improvement compared to Chirac.
Look at Germany.
Merkel is an intelligent politician and German work ethic is not a thing of the past. Even though GDP growth still is weak, I daily hear good news concerning my southern neighbors.
Look at Scandinavia.
Today, most Scandinavians are aware that Capitalism is the only way to go, a sense of national prides has come along with the recent economic achievements and PC mentality, Socialism and Feminism are losing ground.
Look at Eastern Europe.
Even stronger economic growth than the Nordic countries and patriotism as well as family values are at an all time high (but more babies, please!!).
Many Europeans and especially young Europeans are strongly opposed to the PC cult of self-contempt today haunting large parts of the West.
In many fields, Europe is aware of its own problems and the solutions to them.
There IS, indeed, a middle way between Nazism and surrender to PC fascism/Islamofascism. It is called Patriotism, Conservatism and true love of Freedom. My impression is that more and more Europeans are choosing this path.
At least 50% of America and 50% of Europe is still sane, so what about the good people of our respective continents get together more often and exchange (and trading insults like those regarding smelly local cheeses and ketchup addiction). Where could we get our Civilization to go?
Nazism, Fascism and Communism is defeated.
If they still were alive, what would men like Socrates, Cicero, Petrarch, Goethe, Schiller, Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Lincoln, Winston Churchill and Reagan tell us to do?
To whine about petty disagreements in the past, bash each other on the Internet and turn internal diplomacy and relations within Western Civilization into an adult kindergarten?
Even though some of us tend to forget it from time to time, the bonds between us are eternal and won’t go away whatever we do or say.
Always here for you, dear brothers and sisters - if I may call you so - across the Atlantic (and that’s NOT something I just say/write),

Correction:
“so what about the good people of our respective continents get together more often and exchange (and trading insults like those regarding smelly local cheeses and ketchup addiction) VIEWS, INFORMATION, ADVICE ETC.
Now get back to your bowl of Freedom Fries (I’m munching on lutefisk-flavored IKEA meatballs by the way)! :D
Correction to correction above:
so what about the good people of our respective continents get together more often and exchange VIEWS, INFORMATION, ADVICE ETC (and TRADE insults like those regarding smelly local cheeses and ketchup addiction)?”
(The sentence above might not meet with BBC standards, but at least it is reminiscent of what normally is achieved in terms of English during daily business meetings throughout my country between people who work for Swedish companies that have adopted English as ‘corporate language’).
Yes, if they put their mind to it. But they have no backbone.
The EU could not defeat 10 red necks with what they have “around the house” in a 1972 cadilac el dorado convertable.
actually strike that..
a cub scout pack with slingshots.
Themisticles was right then and he is right today.
Our so called leaders have utterly failed to see the real threat.

- Will I go into Swedish politics?
Yes, If all else fails.
But Sweden, as well as Europe as a whole, will not fail.
What’s the name of that old Dylan song again?
