Duncan Hunter Endorses Mike Huckabee
National Review Online ^ | 1-23-08 | Byron York

Posted on 01/23/2008 12:29:02 PM PST by TitansAFC

This was a surprise. From the Hunter statement:

"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America‚s industrial base."

"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.

Looks like Hunter’s Rangers just bought a lifetime supply of squirrel rations.

Hope that goes down well, boys! :P

Just to let you know that you misread a whole-lotta of us with your mis-perception. Some may be that way... but some of us just have legitimate problems with ALL of the remaining candidates. We do have that right... none of mine are based on religion in the least... other than rootie. I’m not certain that I believe that he is a good Catholic. I guess it was his cheesecake pictures that did it.

Wait until 2012. He’s the GOP’s Obama. I expect that he’ll be speechifying at the RNC this year.

And of course I was depressed over his withdrawal as well. I was campaigning for him at a pro-life rally in San Francisco right up to the moment word came of his withdrawal.

I'm more concerned about America and its human being children -- of all ages from conception to the beds of the ill and the elderly, than soothing my soul over a situation that we know in part and much only by heresay.

It's usually a spiritual "thing."

And "spiritual" means keep it private and tell no one? Ignore Jesus' great commission and have a religious test so any law that can be traced back to the Bible is unconstitutional?

Huckabee wants to change the Constitution in the name of religion. That’s unnecessary. Huckabee plays the “I’m more Christian than they are” game. That’s disingenous of him.

..I think Dunk has already given us his number one reason, namely, his protectionist sentiment....

BINGO!.. Finally some truth :)

Again, DH is not like or ever close to FT. Call it whatever you will - Communist, socialist :) - Whatever, I would like to see someone is NOT SO WILLING TO SELL OUT OUR COUNTRY as the 'globalistas' seem to want to do... And Duncan mentioned that several times.

Protectionist?... hmmm.... I don't know....no.... I want free trade but FAIR TRADE! :)

Get my drift? whoever tried linking DUNCAN adn THOMSOM, were simply hoping to get the 'social-conservatives' vote... but NAAAAAAAAAHHHHH.... Not really :)

“Well that explains alot about Mr. 1%.”

Yes, doesn’t it. I may throw up. Hunter was the “best man in the race”, huh? Dropped out while votes were being counted in S.C., instead of before when he should have. Fred wasn’t murdered all the way yet, so waited until he was gone. Then endorses Huckaboob. The Best man in the race from the start was Fred, and no matter who he endorses, if anyone, including McCrazy, he still was.

Congressmen don’t become presidential candidates, I think
I’ve seen that pretty well covered here. Tanc was in it to force his one issue to the forefront, which he did well, and quit when he should have. Hunter was in it ....... why????? Because he can’t run for congress any more in his own state? WHY??

It looks like Mr. Hunter did his homework and discovered that Mr. Huckabee isn’t the liberal that the mainstream and the elites have made him out to be.

So, which is more likely? Either after 20+ years as a true conservative, Duncan Hunter became a moron and fell hook, line and sinker for a liberal Arkansas knuckle dragger. Or... Mr. Hunter looked past all the crap and half-truths being told about Gov. Huckabee and found him to be a solid conservative.

Duncan Hunter has proven himself to be too smart to fall for a fake conservative. All of you owe it to yourselves to give Mike Huckabee another look.

Huckabee is a very good campaigner. He’s slick. He’s personable.

Yeah. He reminds me of Bill Clinton.
