Duncan Hunter Endorses Mike Huckabee
National Review Online ^ | 1-23-08 | Byron York

Posted on 01/23/2008 12:29:02 PM PST by TitansAFC

This was a surprise. From the Hunter statement:

"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America‚s industrial base."

"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.

I don't get it. Was this a roundabout McCain endorsement? McCain has got this joker on his team.

That’s my guess too, or something like that. In any case, my opinion of Hunter is not going to be changed by such a minor thing.

And I doubt that many Duncan Hunter supporters can be told whom to vote for.

Of the opinion you deserve to see this thread (if you haven’t already).

I did say he would endorse Huckabee.
I originally thought he would stay in until the convention, and endorse him there, but once he dropped out, the time and place obviously changed to the more immediate present.

I never pointed out Hunter’s inevitable endorsement of Huckabee to “smear” him as many Hunterites such as yourself accused me of. I did it only because it became patently obvious to me that such handwriting was on the wall, and I wanted to give all you Hunterites fair warning of what was sure to come down the pike sooner or later. Hunter was always a lot closer to Huckabee than he was to Thompson, just you guys didn’t want to face that reality.

But now that Hunter has made that fact undeniable, and sold out every last one of you that was supporting him, don’t you think you should change your tagline?

After endorsing Huckabee, I believe he is no longer worthy of the title of “statesman”.

I’ve pointed out the ridiculousness of that argument time and again.

And by endorsing Huckabee, he is certainly no conservative either.

You should have supported Thompson.
Just like we told you Hunterites who were spreading the Huckabee lies, Fred would not endorse John McCain, and he hasn’t and he will not.

What else did i tell you?
Huckabee is working with McCain in a deal to be his running mate.
Your candidate endorsed the guy who is going to use his delegates to make McAmnesty the nominee if he can.
Everything I told you was true.
I bet you could just kill yourself now, can’t you?
Way to go.

"Huckabee and Hunter come from the same conservative philosophical mold with the same foundational beliefs."

This is typical of what's all over FR. Whodda thunk that Duncan was just a "stalking horse" for the Huck, from the very beginning.

Here's another sentimental one:

"Hunter's ringing endorsement is a very touching and eloquent passing of the sword ..."

maybe pissant isn't the defintive voice of conservatism after all?

You can’t possibly as ignorant as your posts. Then again, I thought that about Punchdrunk, and he proved otherwise.

Chickeniest? Is that word in the dictionary, “honey”? ... My wife does not even call me that ;)

Oh, BTW... Here is what I think of Ron Paul:

‘Big Ron’ (Sung to ‘Big John’ by Jimmy Dean)
(Big Ron… Big Ron)

Every mornin’ on a dime you could see him arrive:
A four foot pixie, weighing, oh; forty five.
Kinda odd lookin’ loner with squeaky thin lips…
Let everybody know he didn’t give two s**ts… Big Ron
(Big Ron, Big Ron) Big Doc Ron (Big Ron)

Nobody seemed to know where Ron was goin’
Just hung round the podium in a world all his own
He didn’t say much, he kinda tired and wry
And if he spoke at all, he’d let all fly… Big Ron

Ronbots said he came for fightin’ New Order schemes…
Where he won his Foil Hat writin’ Info Wars themes,
A cranky old crow wantin’ change of command
This Looney-Toon fella from Alex Jones’ band, Big Ron
(Big Ron, Big Ron) Big Doc Ron (Big Ron)

Then came the day when he crossed the line…
When tempers all cracked ‘bout his Nine Eleven mime.
Them pols were waitin’ for a chew on Ron’s ass,
When Giuliani roared at the geek aghast, that’s Ron

This busted dupe, this mannequin shrill…
This talker of tales, ranting ‘Truthers’ tell
Grabbed his saggin’ member and shut up with a groan
And like a gelded pup he just stood there alone, Big Ron
(Big Ron, Big Ron) Big Doc Ron (Big Ron)

And with all their strength the others gave a shove
Then Huck yelled out “There’s a God up above!”
And grown men rambled ‘bout this anointed knave;
How he’s the only soul who’s able to save, Big Ron

While jackass losers cry we gotta leave town,
The lame libs stumble in their underground,
And smokin’ gas bags belch out the line:
Hey, everybody knows we’re the cause of all crimes… said Ron
(Big Ron, Big Ron) Big Doc Ron (Big Ron)

Now they never selected that smarmy twit:
they beat him senseless in the primary pit.
Few words are written ‘bout this man,
’Cause bottom line is he’s in la-la land… Big Ron
(Big Ron, Big Ron) Big Doc Ron (Big Ron, Big Ron) Big Doc Ron

The Huckster and Duncan Show? Let’s see... Must go something like this:

The Duncan Hunter Theme song (Sung to the old TV Show ‘Underdog’)

There’s no need to fear! Hunterdog is here!

Duh-DUH dump, doo-doo-Dump… Duh-DUH dump, doo-doo-Dump
Ooooh… BOW-oohm… BOW-oohm… BOW-oohm… BOW-oohm…
WAAH, ah-ah-AH-ahhh…

When liberals in this world appear,
to change the ways that we hold dear,
and spite the word of God made clear,
For cry’ in’ out loud who’s in charge here?
Get Hunterdog! HUNTERDOG! Huntedog! HUNTERDOG!

He’s for fighting Gore, Obama
smiting Clinton, Paul, Osama
Hunterdog. Oooh… ahh-AH-AH, AAH: Hunterdog!

Ooooh BOW-oohm… BOW-oohm… BOW-oohm… BOW-oohm…
WAAH, ah-ah-AH-ahhh…

When ‘cross our lines illegals speed,
Where globalists so filled with greed,
Will plot to change our nation’s creed,
To right this wrong we need the lead
of Huntererdog! HUNTERDOG! Hunterdog! HUNTERDOG!

He’s for fighting Gore, Obama
smiting Clinton, Paul, Osama
Hunterdog. Oooh-ah-Ah-AH-AH, Hunterdog… HUNTERDOG!

***

And, of course, the Huckster:

You all know the old gospel hymn, ‘Michael Row the Boat Ashore’, which was sung by freed slaves who rowed long boats from Saint Helena Island to the mainland during the American Civil War. Here is my version, as applied to Mike Huckabee...

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.
GETS’ YOUR HELP TO SPIN HIS TALE, HE’S A USER,
LETS MAD FELONS OUT OF JAIL, PARDONS TO-OO-YA.

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.
HIS STARE IS DEEP AND STARRY EYED, PAL HE’S COOL, YEAH,
MILKIN’ DUMMIES FULL OF PRIDE... GLAD HE KNEW-EW-YA.

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.
M-S-M IS ALL ABOARD... PAL THEY RULE YA,
M-S-M WILL WIELD THE SWORD WHEN THEY CHOO-OOSE, YEAH.

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.
WHEN HE’S CHOSEN THEY’LL RING ‘M OUT... IN THE NEWS, YEAH,
HIS MEDIA BUDDIES ALL GONNA SHOUT: HE’S A LOO-OO-SER!

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.
LIBS WILL JUMP WITH JUBILEE... HOW THEY FOOLED YA,
THEN WE’LL GET OL’ HILLARY, AND SHE’LL RU-ULE YA.

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.

They’re All for Huck (Sung to ‘All Shook Up’ by Otis Blackwell & Elvis Presley)

A well I saved my soul…
What’s wrong with me?
They’re bitching like I come from Planet ‘Z’
Dunc say’s I’m a happenin’ guy to love
He say “Gov…” Huh?
”I’m all for Huck”
Mm-oh… we’re go… yeah, yeah!

My chances are shaky and my team is weak
I can’t seem to pan my known critique
Ooh, Do you think them pardons sucked?
They say “Gov…” Huh?
”Y’all F**ked up!”
Mm-mm… Oh no! Jail break!

Well, please don’t task me ‘bout facts this time
I’m a little mixed up ‘bout my Jesus lines…
When I cheer His Gospel, yeah, I love best:
The base says no, oh but the Times scream yes!

Romney trashed my stand n’ what a grillin’ I got
n’ Fred’s quips were like a Tancredo shot
I’m proud to say Hunter gave me his spot…
I say “Dunc …” Wuh?
”Thanks allot!”
Mm-mm… Oh no… Low day!

Well some say I lie, n’ try to cheat
My record is shady like beef with no meat
There’s only manure from this mouth of mine
That’s pooh to you… the world loves my lines!

Romney trashed my stand n’ what a grillin’ I got
n’ Fred’s quips were like a Tancredo shot
I’m proud to say illegals got your spot…
they say “Gov…” Huh?
”We’re all for Huck!”
Mm-mm… Ho, Ho… Grey day!

Mm-mm… Ho, Ho… Grey day!

Mm-mm… Ho, Ho… Pray, Pray!

”They’re all for Huck!”

I was thinking Mighty Mouse might be fitting for Hunter [the song I mean].

Here I come to save the day!
You know that Mighty Mouse is on the way.

I’m sure you could do something with it, I’m no songwriter. Hunterdog instead of Mighty Mouse?

That’s too long ago... I can’t remember how the theme song went, except for the ubiquitous “Here I come to save the day...!” Maybe ‘Speed Racer’ ... something like, mmmm... ‘Dream Chaser’ “Go! ... Dream Chaser, Go! ... Dream Chaser, Go Dream Chaser Go-oh! I’ll work on it. Give me an hour. (I love this stuff too much.)

Dream Chaser (Sung to the theme of the 1960’s Japanese animation ‘Speed Racer’)

Ne-o-cons …
Here comes Dream Chaser;
He’s a Dunkin’ some deals.
He’s a Dunkin’ and he’s gonna be raisin’ cash for someone.

He’s gonna’ con ya, so to better shuck n’ jive.
He’s busy screwin’ up the delegation drive.

And since the odds are against him,
and there’s “changing” much to do…
who better might we take, yeah!
Who’ll feed us pooh?

Go Dream Chaser
Go Dream Chaser
Go Dream Chaser, Go!

He’s off n’ jivin’ as he cons us for a clown to back…
This chump, he pounds his twaddle like we were born in Iraq…
Disaster’s waitin’ just ahead!

Go Dream Chaser
Go Dream Chaser
Go Dream Chaser, Go!
