The article states that employers are forced to increase wages...HELLO!

Market wages for Americans, and money that will stay in the local economy rather than going south of the border.

Generally, the people on the inside of one on these things are called "prisoners."

Prisoners are provided with jobs and the ability to make purchases of necessities, and reasonable healthcare and recreation opportunities, but have no actual freedom.

Note to Americans - Economic opportunity in Arizona!!

However:

"Workers are going back to Mexico or to other states, Reza said. He predicted small businesses forced to lay off skilled employees like welders will now pay them in cash, creating a black economy

The underground economy is going to take hold now, and there will be less money for the state," Reza said.

I guess lawbreaking employers still plan to be lawbreaking employers. Now they just plan on hiring under the table. They get what they deserve.

Yep, that’s how it works. All they want these people for is the vote right now. And they will use the illegal vote if they can get away with it.

Imagine if every single state did this.

Illegal immigration would be wiped out in one swell foop
through attrition, like Fred said.

"There's a lot of fear and some people are leaving," said Salvador Reza, an immigrant-rights activist who runs a day labor center in Phoenix.

Excerpt: http://leadershipforchange.org/awardees/awardee.php3?ID=28

Reza dreams of a day when Tonatierra can create day labor centers throughout the city [Phoenix]. Tonatierra and Reza are also working for the electoral redistricting of Phoenix in order to increase Latino political representation. Tonatierra is also preparing for the future through a new program called Xinachtli, which works with public schools to teach the traditions, culture, art and science of indigenous people. “We are in three school districts now, but we hope to offer this in many others, so that students – all young people – will learn, for instance, about the advanced mathematics of the Aztec’s calendar, which was based on the rhythm of sun and stars. We’re already seeing the lives of kids changed by this. So many kids enter the school district unbalanced, economically, spiritually. We’re preparing a crop of kids for the future.” What does Xinachtli mean? “In the Aztec language,” says Reza, “it means ‘seed’.”

In Phoenix, what I’ve seen varies and is not obvious because unlike in California, most illegals are spread out, they don’t congregate in ghettos.

That being said, one such, who owned a small grocery store catering mostly to Mexicans, had to sell out to a competitor who just closed the store down. I noted that nothing is on sale in the competitors store anymore, for several reasons.

The ex-store owner is going back to the underground economy, where he made the money to open his store in the first place. He has too many reasons to stay, including most of his family are legal. The biggest effect is that cash landscaping and repair will get cheaper again.

There are more Mexican prostitutes working now, but for the most part not street walking, but in the suburbs. And the price of illegal drugs is expected to take a sharp dive. Both of these are of concern to some parents of teenage boys I know, who no longer allow them to associate with Mexicans.

The price of fake IDs is skyrocketing, if you can get them at all. That is a lot less important than you might imagine, because there are a lot of citizens that abhor IDs as well. Most of the illegal ID traffic is for Mexicans who are too invested locally to leave, and who can shell out a few thousand dollars for quality fakes. With that kind of money, ID theft is going to be endemic.

In larger families, the legal members are becoming fronts for the illegals. For instance, a man who looks 35 has an ID that says he is 60, or a 28 year old woman whose ID says she is 16. She works and goes to high school at the same time.

One way around the situation for employers is to have an employee who works at home. He produces three or four times as much product as the typical employee. Another is the employee who puts in a double shift, but looks different depending on the time of day. As long as his ID says he, or they, are legal, they are.

But again, much of this is invisible unless you are either involved in it in some way, or know somebody who knows. It will be a long time before much can be said one way or another.

The video hit many points:

Got to love the arrogance of the LAPD Chief when a caller asked why his department wasn't dong their job about illegal immigration: "If you don't like it, leave the state!"

Health issues: I don't eat the junk at McD's, but stopped at one to grab a cup of java the other day. While waiting to be served I noticed a midle-aged Hispanic female with multiple tattoos and pierceings carrying a tissue in one hand constantly sniffling and wiping her nose as she went about her tasks including handling money - must be from all those employee meals, or snorting bad stuff.

She appeared to fit into Gangsta Land, but it was, how should I say, mid-America.

Ahhhh, the American dream.

Ironco has raised steel fitters' wages 30 percent from a year ago, according to Bailey. "We've raised wages, competing for a diminishing supply (of workers)," he said. "We?ve been on a campaign of quality improvement, training, scouring the waterfront, so to speak, for American vets, ex-offenders trying to find their way back into society

Sounds like there are a lot of winners in this policy change. Replace illegal aliens with Americans who need the training and the work. About time I'd say.

From the very poorly written article:
The ripple in Arizona?s economy has spread to other sectors. Real estate agent John Aguero Sr. said he gets four to seven calls each day from people asking about what they can do with their homes.

Fifteen out of 100 people who call Aguero "are just walking away from their property," he said.

One man called and asked how long the foreclosure process would take if he skipped his [$]1,600 house payments. Aguero told him four months.

The problem lies with the banks and mortgage companies making home loans to criminals. Outrageous!

Arizona and Oklahoma... just states doing the job our Imperial Federal Government has a Constitutional mandate to do but won’t do.

Power to the states! IMHO, the collective states have more intelligence and chutzpa than the Feds. Who ya gonna call? :)

The effects of the law have been immediate, according to businessmen

There's a lot of fear and some people are leaving, said Salvador Reza, an immigrant illegal alien-rights "activist"

I suppose this is supposed to mean we should let the criminal illegal aliens continue to break the law because what with their 12.00 hour jobs and deductions for the wife and 4-5 anchor babies the illegals "pay" taxes. Right. About twenty seven bucks a year. Never mind the $1,500.00 "Earned Income Tax Credit" check they get every year and hey this year they will get a bonus $600 bucks!

This next segment is just absolutely choice. Real responsible family values folks we have here. Just the kind `ol Juan McCain wants to amnesty in and let them stay here promoting THESE kinds of values...

"Well, I?ll save that and just go home (to Guatemala)," Aguero said. "His wife is a citizen but he's not. The whole family will pack up and leave. He has three children, all of whom were born here."

So the guy has three anchor babies and does not give a rat about assimilating into US society or the American citizenship for his kids. It's all about flaking out on a home loan, running back south of the border with a lousy few grand and REAL American Citizens have to pick up the tab for him. What a loser. The real rub is this type of dummy is in the majority when it comes to the illegals.

*sigh*

I expect we'll get to help bailout the bank that gave this illegal alien his sub-prime loan...
