The UK’s Sunday Times recently broke the story of an FBI whistleblower kept from speaking publicly about a State Department official suspected of selling nuclear secrets. Annie Jacobsen digs a bit deeper into this shadowy tale and wonders why American media outlets have greeted the revelations with stunning silence.
Two weeks ago, the London Sunday Times broke an exclusive story about FBI translator-turned-whistleblower Sibel Edmonds. For five years, the U.S. government has prevented Edmonds from speaking publicly on what she knows, claiming State Secrets Privilege. The Times got the exclusive on the story, eerily titled “For Sale: West’s Deadly Nuclear Secrets,” by talking to a number of Edmonds’ close associates who were not under a gag order, and by filling in pieces of the puzzle from Sibel Edmonds herself.
According the Times article, the U.S. government sought to gag Edmonds from revealing that corrupt government officials — specifically, State Department official Marc Grossman — were directly involved in the stealing and selling of nuclear secrets to foreign agents. In her role as translator, Edmonds listened in on, or translated, hundreds of secretly intercepted conversations between State Department officials and foreign nationals from 1996 to 2002.

Why has the mainstream media ignored such an important story? This reporter spoke to a number of Edmonds’ colleagues on the subject. One member of the National Security Whistleblower Coalition (NSWC) — over which Edmonds presides — shared Ellsberg’s disbelief at the lack of coverage on the Edmonds story; Ellsberg is also a NSWC member.

Over a decade ago a trip to the UK opened our eyes to the treason and other crimes being done by the Clintoons being covered in the major UK newspapers.
Little if any of that ever appeared in our lying spinning left Pravda Newspeak.
If you think the State Dept. is full of innocent boy scouts, you are the only one. What we really need less of in this country are State Dept. bureaucrats. No treasonous act they are accused of would surprise me. Their official policies alone are reason enough to know that they are fundamentally against freedom and the American way of life. They are mostly socialististic zealots from Ivy League schools.

"The focus of this new Times article is the original outing of Brewster Jennings, the CIA cover company that Valerie Plame Wilson worked for. The article confirms that Marc Grossman, former # 3 State Dept official, and former Ambassador to Turkey, warned his Turkish associates to be wary of Brewster Jennings because it was a CIA front operation. This disclosure occurred in the summer of 2001, two years prior to the outing of Valerie Plame.It looks like Plame had quite of few opportunities for her cover to be blown and ample reason to discard her service in the CIA, although she didn't exactly keep her lips shut. Libby's conviction may have been a two-for-the price-of-one scenario. Plame eliminated her connection to the nuclear smuggling ring and can claim deniability while never having to risk dealings with those who learneded of her identity and connections in 2001. Plame was moved because Brewster Jennings was dismantled due to the FBI discovering that Grossman had blown the cover. Plame has been forbidden by the CIA to refer to her work, or even the fact that she worked at CIA, prior to 2002. It was also Libby who prodded former Secretary of State Colin Powell to include specious reports about an alleged meeting between 9/11 terrorist Mohammed Atta and an Iraqi intelligence official in Powell's February 2003 speech to the United Nations. Libby and his staff reportedly badgered Powell's speechwriters for weeks, culminating in a meeting where Libby presented information in a manner that, according to those who were there, was aggressive and over the top."
I agree. Sibel Edmonds is apparently associated with the thief, Ellsberg, who stole the Petagon Papers in the 1970s and gave them to the press to bolster the antiwar crowd.
If she was as security-conscious as she claims, she would not have joined forces with Vietnam-era traitor Dan Ellsberg. Ellsberg is the Pentagon Papers guy who's been promoting his "Truth-Telling-Project" to get people in sensitive positions to illegally leak classified information to the press. On an Ellsberg TTP petition in support of a Danish leaker who leaked three threat assessments to Danish newspapers concerning Iraqi WMD. Sibel Edmonds is signed up alongside such other notables as Ted Kennedy's favorite source of info, Karen Kwiatkowski, the looney Lyndon Larouche nut who made up peices to post on the web - while serving in uniform- about the Pentagon's Office of Special Plans, about which she knew nothing. Also appearing is the sig of the infamous Larry Johnson or Joe Wilson/Nigerflap/Plame leak fame. And Ray McGovern of VIPS. Leaking is OK for everyone but Rove, Novak, and Scooter Libby, don't ya know? Sibel Edmonds is the director of National Security Whistleblowers Coalition (NSWBC). ]

Sibel Edmonds is one of Patrick Leahy's sock puppets, IMHO, maybe worse. I wonder if she's involved with Lyndon LaRouche- LaRouchies are famous flip floppers who appeal to the emotions of both sides of an issue to promote their own agenda.
