Something has been bothering me all week and I'm hoping someone here can make me understand. Since 2001, we've been calling the Democrats a party of surrender, anti-war, anti-troops, etc. McCain has his faults. There's no question about it. But why are people like Ann Coulter, Tammy Bruce, Michelle Malkin and many here ready to hand over control of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the future of the War on Terror, and the care of our troops to Hillary Clinton? That's what will happen if people decide to either stay home or vote for Hillary in some kind of misguided moral protest. Don't our troops deserve better than that? It's throwing them to the wolves.
That includes not only McCain and Feingold, but every elected individual who did not go to the mat in opposition to McCain-Feingold.
Teh worst restriction on free speech in this country since the Alien and Sedition Acts. And look whose name is on it -- as lead sponsor.
How will they be more effective? Do you honestly think that there is a scenario where there is a Clinton win and the same or more Republicans in Congress? The Republicans have lost Congress in 2006, if Clinton wins she will have coattails. And do not delude yourself into believing that Clinton will mess up in a way that will make her unelectable in 2012. She has been in Washington for 16 years, she will be able to push a national health care program, for instance, that will be push any ill effects past the end of her presidency. She will likely have a couple of seats to fill on the Supreme Court and she will have a Democratic Congress to help her, if the minority Democrats could not stop Roberts and Alito from being appointed, what makes you think that the minority Republicans will be able to stop a hard core liberal from being appointed?
McCain is also against the use of interrogation techniques that our intelligence agencies have stated has procured information that was used to stop terrorist attacks against this Country. Would these attacks have been successful with a President McCain?
I don't think McCain understands the WOT enough to be a strong leader fighting it.
A Democratic pick will always turn out to be a Ginsberg.
McCain's not-so-stellar ACU ratings:
2000 81 2001 68 2002 78 2003 75 2004 72 2005 80 2006 65
I can’t believe that so many are taking Ann Coulter’s words seriously. When I heard it, I laughed. It was a tactic people. She was doing an imitation of the true fools who will vote for a HillBillary or an Obama rather than McCain. By putting this thinking in the public arena, she is doing two things: she is showing how loathsome the idea of McCain’s nomination and how ridiculous it would be to trade McCain’s loathsomeness with the horrors of the Left. What she did was set off the fire alarm in the building. Did anyone hear? If McCain does become the nominee, we all are going to learn how to pinch our noses.
LOL!
If the GOP is ready to nominate a McCain, then the party has left me and my conservative values behind. Time to join or form another party that supports my beliefs.
Thank you......well said.
The troops deserve a leader that will listen to other opinions. If you want to know how the McCain administration will treat the military I suggest reading about Hitler and his generals. Like Hitler, McCain thinks he is the all knowing expert on military matters. If a general or admiral challenges him? Goodbye general.
If some general looks like they are getting the media’s glory I predict that McCain will end that career for the same reasons Stalin and Hitler got envious of their star generals.
And have you looked at his national defense voting record back in the 1990’s? He was voting against his party to cut the military. He wanted us to get rid of the B-2 Bomber, C-130 Transport, Seawolf Submarine and a bunch of other stuff. The military is where he is the budget cutter.
Obama, Hillary, etc will not focus as much on the military as McCain and therefore won’t do as much damage. My personal opinion is that McCain hates the military since they didn’t make him an admiral like his father. I think the support the war thing is nothing more that a political calculation that he can win conservative votes by doing so. There has been some key Iraq votes that McCain made a lot of public speeches about at the time but either voted “Present” or didn’t show up to vote. Same with Petraeus, if you listen to McCain he is all about how much he backs General Petraeus. But while researching his votes I noted that McCain didn’t bother to vote to promote the star general.
McCain is not fit to be Commander in Chief in my opinion.
“Were we at war during Carter 1 and Clinton?
Yes. The jihad started in the carter administration with the takeover of our embassy in Tehran. Carter’s brilliant response and the subsequent 444 days of our daily humiliation at the hands of islamist “students” convinced all of the umma that we could be defeated.
clinton’s active support of the muslim side in the Balklands assured islamic radicals everywhere that we are a stupid and self destructive people. When he tucked his tail between his legs and ran from Mogadishu, that was the defining moment when Osama bin Laden decided that islamic victory was inevitable.
Yes. We were at war. carter and clinton were just too weak, stupid, and cowardly to do anything about it or even recognize the fact.”
Which is why I’ll vote for Huckabee, or Romney, or McCain, WHOEVER is the nominee.
Problem is (IMHO) concerned good honorable conservatives folks like yourself are barking at the followers vs the leaders........a base is a foundation that never moves. Conservatives are here we never left the GOP. The GOP left us on the curb . They want my vote they know what they have to support to get it........ they can start simple with that constitution thingy.
I share yer frustration yet am firmly against McCain. I may and that is a reach be able to stomach the Twitt or Husckster but never McCain and Amnesty , Gun control, Pro Choice and his other BS........He is not presidential.
God help us all if he is the GOP pick as the Clintonistas want to run against him......... wouldn’t surprise me if he loses the GOP nomination she picks him as a VP running mate.......yeah I know a reach......:o)
No, but radioactive hot dogs take a lot more casualties than rancid burger.
I was just continuing on someone else’s analogy. I don’t find McCain/Romney/Huck to be the political equivalent of Hilary/Obama. Hilary/Obama is a TON worse.
Hey, I’m not happy about these events. The Republican party has royally screwed up. They have no one to blame but themselves. They are going to lose this election. I do hope that Obama derails the Clinton machine and at least takes them out of the picture.
I didn’t know about his vote regarding Petraeus’ promotion. Did he vote against it or just wasn’t there?
I really want to make clear that I wasn’t browbeating anyone into voting for McCain, Hillary, Tom Brady or anyone else. I honestly wanted to hear people’s opinions on McCain vs Clinton regarding the War on Terror. It wasn’t some kind of setup or an attempt to cause trouble.
Of course I've been saying for a year the Hildebeast has it in the bag.
"No way Investigateworld", was the response, " her negatives are too high".
"Jest y'all watch what the Republican Party puts up against her", I replied.
And I believe whatever deal was made between the Bush and Clinton families is still being honored.
McCain is a strawman ... and has too much ego to recognized he's being played.
Thus should I were to sit out an election, which I've only done once in my life, then I will simply be following the wishes of the GOP establishment.
What?
You think 'they' believe McCain can get elected without conservatives?
You are misreading the base, if that is what you think. This isn't pretend anger going out across the country.
“God help us all if he is the GOP pick as the Clintonistas want to run against him......... wouldnt surprise me if he loses the GOP nomination she picks him as a VP running mate.......yeah I know a reach......:o)”
I dunno... I’ve said that exact same thing. We know he asked to be Kerry’s running mate (ok, it’s been reported and frankly I believe it). Hillary knows she’s weak with independents. Would she pick Obama at this point? Or would that be too MUCH change? I think she might very well ask McCain, if he’s not the nominee, to shore up her support with moderates and independents. There’s really no reason for her not to.
