I have a question for you. I’ll answer yours if you’ll answer mine. You give it short shrift, you can expect the same.

RINOs pretend to be conservative and coopt a conservative site like Free Republic. As far as I can tell, not one of them has responded to my contention that this isn’t a GOP website, it’s a conservative website so they have no business telling us to vote for a RINO.

The GOP turned its back on conservatism when it didn’t uphold Thompson or Hunter. Putting this kind of RINO garbage on Free REpublic deserves a zot.

We are not connected to or funded by any political party, news agency, or any other entity. ....

From the front page of Free Republic:

Statement by the founder of Free Republic
As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc. .... We are not connected to or funded by any political party, news agency, or any other entity. .... We aggressively defend our God-given and first amendment guaranteed rights to free speech, free press, free religion, and freedom of association, as well as our constitutional right to control the use and content of our own personal private property. Despite the wailing of the liberal trolls and other doom & gloom naysayers, we feel no compelling need to allow them a platform to promote their repugnant and obnoxious propaganda from our forum. Free Republic is not a liberal debating society. We are conservative activists dedicated to defending our rights, defending our constitution, defending our republic and defending our traditional American way of life.

Time for the FALCONservatives to assert themselves.
Death of the GOP and the Birth of a New Political Party

The time may soon come where many of us say, like Ronald Reagan’s famous quote regarding the Democrat party, “I didn’t leave the Republican party, the Republican party left me.”

So, here’s my question: Why do you expect Freepers to toe the Republican line when it isn’t a republican website?

Boy your in trouble for posting that. You know that we conservatives must agree with our candidates 90% or more or we will freak out, panic, get angry, argue, splinter, scatter and put a democRAT in office by write in votes or not voting.

Its the democRATS that show more unity, not us.

I dont care for McCain at all, I disagree with his policy on taxes, energy, IMMIGRATION, and others. His "gang of 14" nonsense to help the democRATS was despicable, his attack on free speech is horrible. He has a long history of siding with the democRATS. I will not vote for him in the primary.

Will I vote for him if he gets the nomination? You bet I will. I will take him over Obama/Hillary any day. Ill take someone I agree with on foreign policy rather than an anti-military socialist democRAT I disagree with 100%. The math is simple.

So let me get this straight: Johnny Mac will be strong on the War on Terror. Ok, so he supported the surge (Hillary originally voted in support of the war as well). Yet, how can one honestly “fight” a War on Terror when he/she favors a complete amnesty/open borders policy? It is one thing to vote for a candidate who wants to fight a war in the Middle East, but quite another to listen to that politician tout his “war” credentials and then vote to allow any illegal over the border regardless of nationality or creed. I am sorry, but Sen. McCain can’t have it both ways and neither can Conservatives who are truly dedicated to the war on terror. Closing the borders is a critical battle in the War on Terror...it is one that Sen. McCain loses.

I think the nomination process is in full tilt. Making judgements about the election is premature.

McCain has himself at heart first and foremost. How any conservative can vote for a guy who actively considered becoming John Kerry’s running mate is beyond me.

At some point we have to stop acting like a our good “African American” friends on the left who keep voting Democrat despite being treated with disdain and taken for granted. McCain is assuming that conservatives will vote for him because we have no place left to go. We have send him a clear message that we only vote for conservative candidates and he does not qualify.

Besides this nomination is not as in the bag as he and lots on FR think. Romney will win 6-7 states to remain significant and then he has a very good shot in Virginia and Texas in late Feb /early March. McCain may have peaked and he is running out of money as well. Romney won Maine despite McCain getting all the endorsements from the GOP establishment. Maybe the same trend will continue Tuesday and people will not be swayed by the endorsements of RINO’s Guliani / Arnold.........

Bear writes...It’s time to fire the GOP.

And, I'm interested in your reason to "fire" a political party.

Are you suggesting "firing" the GOP because you do not like primary results?

The "GOP" doesn't vote in primaries, people do (superdelegates, crossovers and independents notwithstanding).

What am I not understanding here?

Most folks here will eventually come around. Especially if McCain has the brain to pick a good conservative VP.

You are free to lie to yourself all you wish. That is part of this country as well.

Your post makes no sense, I said McCain is conservative in areas in which the dems are liberal. That is a fact.

McCain has an 82% conservative rating, Hilary has a 12, Obama an 8. McCain holds MANY conservative positions. I really don't know why you are so emotional you can't see that.

“I won’t be voting for McCain, he can go to hell, and so can his friend Huckabee. I can’t stand it when people play dirty. I won’t vote for that creep or reward his disgusting little deal he has going with Huckabee. If it comes between McCain and Obama, I will vote for Obama. If it comes between McCain and Hillary I will stay home. I’m pissed, can you tell?”

Ditto, word for word.

He's a certified lunatic propped up by a fawning media which lavishes praise on his liberal stands.

Until he wins the nomination and runs in the general. Then that fawning media will turn on him so fast he won't know what hit him.

I seriously doubt that most folks here will “come around” for McCain.

You’re making the same dangerous bet that he is. A bet that he and you will lose. Look at what happened to DeWine in Ohio in `06. He lost to a flaming liberal because conservatives in Ohio like me refused to vote for a backstabbing McCain sycophant. DeWine had simply carried McCain’s water one time too many with the Gang of 14 suck-up.

If we swalloed a liberal to eliminate a McCain toadie, what makes you think we aren’t willing to risk 4 to 8 years of Hillary?

How many times must conservatives get stabbed in the back by this jerk before you will learn. Any “conservative” that rallys to his banner as a Veep candidate (including Fred) is no true conservative. I’d rather keep my enemies in front of me and declared instead of behind me plunging a knife between my shoulder blades. McCain can go to hell.

“If Conservatives vote for McCain, they’re going to get Hillary in a better suit, and a “Rockefeller Republican Party” in D.C. All at the loss of their principles. Thanks. I’ll pass.”

I actually think that IF McCain were the nominee, we would have a Dem president, because many conservatives would vote 3rd party, or stay home.

Let’s make sure that McCain is not the nominee, and vote against him in the primaries.

Most of us have core beliefs and principles and no matter says I will not come around. The GOP and the country will be better off with him losing because the conservative movement needs o stay alive for America to survive as a nation long term.

Bravo. I know McCain's not a great choice. Hunter and Thompson never caught on, George Allen imploded, and other conservatives like Mark Sanford sat out. It's Romney or Mccain. Period. Reagan, or Dubya for that matter, ain't coming.

We finally have a chance to bring the Clinton's to battle and "Conservatives" are going to sit it out? I don't get it. Selling secrets to the Chicomms, raping/harrassing women, stealing the silverware from the White House, etc...That's all forgotten now?

Do we want more Ginsbergs on the SCOTUS? Mccain will do no worse than a Kennedy or an O'Conner-not great but better than an angry planned parenthood dike.

Do we want to surrender on the field of battle? McCain will fight. Hard.

Do we want a tax and spend liberal? Mccain will knock off the pork and is strogly influenced by supply siders like Gramm and Kemp

Agan, I don't like McCain but I will fight HRC hard. Even if we lose, at least I will not belong with the cold timid souls that sat it out.

Even Mr. Negative Michael Savage said he would vote McCain over Hitlery or Obama, but prefers Mitt. He based his choice on McCain’s 82% rating from the American conservative Union and his C+ from the NRA, compared to Hillary’s F.

Were we at war during Carter 1 and Clinton?

Yes. The jihad started in the carter administration with the takeover of our embassy in Tehran. Carter's brilliant response and the subsequent 444 days of our daily humiliation at the hands of islamist "students" convinced all of the umma that we could be defeated.

clinton's active support of the muslim side in the Balklands assured islamic radicals everywhere that we are a stupid and self destructive people. When he tucked his tail between his legs and ran from Mogadishu, that was the defining moment when Osama bin Laden decided that islamic victory was inevitable.

Yes. We were at war. carter and clinton were just too weak, stupid, and cowardly to do anything about it or even recognize the fact.
