Early Voting Insanity And a GOP Gift
RealClearPolitics ^ | February 07, 2008 | George Will

Forewarned, Democrats now are forearmed -- not that they will necessarily make sensible use of the gift. Tuesday's voting armed Democratic voters with the name of the candidate that their nominee will face in the fall. Will their purblind party now nominate the most polarizing person in contemporary politics, knowing that Republicans will nominate the person who tries to compensate for his weakness among conservatives with his strength among independent voters who are crucial to winning the White House?

Perhaps. The Republican Party's not-so-secret weapon always is the Democratic Party, with its entertaining thirst for living dangerously.

John McCain has become the presumptive nominee of the conservative party without winning majority support of conservatives. According to exit polls, he lost them Tuesday to Mitt Romney in his home state of Arizona, 43-40. He lost them in that day's biggest battleground, California, 43-35.

Mchillary says that he can win without the “conservative” party. I say good luck, and shut the door on your way out!

“Mchillary says that he can win without the “conservative” party. I say good luck, and shut the door on your way out!”

I think when you get poked in the eye with a stick, it would be foolish to say all is forgiven, please do it again and poke me in the other eye as well.

I think Hillary can be rolled in Congress. On the other hand, I think McCain would simply make conservative eat their principles while chanting BOHICA. I think we are better off fighting an honorable death against Hillary than being forced to endorse everything Mccain shoves down our throats. Otherwise, the RNC will never learn.

War with islamo-facism makes keeping Hildabeast or B. Hussein out of the white house top priority to me.

I’ll vote for the SOB if I have to to keep them out. I will never forgive or forget how badly the democrats betrayed the troops. At least McCain is for the most part supportive of the war on terror and the troops.

“Mchillary says that he can win without the “conservative” party.”

If the Democratic Party degenerates into an auction of Super-Delegates going for the highest price, that over-rides the voters will, he may very well be RIGHT...

And Howard Dean’s statement about “Getting Hillary and Obama together” tells me the Democrats are starting to realize this....

You are on the money FRiend.

You are going to want to read my latest blog entry concerning Obama and how he is perceived here and how his election would affect the War on Terrorism.

McCain has accepted ten of thousands of dollars in donations from the likes of David Geffen, George Soros (Tides Foundation), and the Environmental Defense Fund.

See the following link to his “think tank”, which produces liberal ideas about how he will govern when President.

So you are voting for Clinton?

Do not worry, I get the impression that Rush Limbaugh is too. He thinks it will be better for his ratings.

So we are free to do something else.

It is what it is.

And unless a miracle helps Romney.

It’s going to be McCain aganist Hilda-bama.

I will not vote in a way that allows democrats to have the white house, for I believe they WILL get us nuked.

Even with McCains vast flaws, I feel he will be better against islamo facism based on his support of the war on terror, the surge, military.

yeah, it sucks.

And we have ourselves to blame for it.

But that also means, in time, we can put things straight again.

If we learn from our mistakes.

We got complacent and let the MSM pick our candidates for us.

I will fight on, and I will oppose democrats the rest of my life if necessary.

I would rather hang from the edge of a cliff, then fall into the abyss. At least we can scratch and crawl, tooth and nail back up. And maybe even make McCain lose the nomination for re-election, assuming he wins the white house.

His plans are to trash the U.S.Constitution, starting with the First Amendment’s guarantee of Freedom of Speech.

McCain/Feingold was the first salvo. The Fairness in Broadcasting Act, which will kill talk radio, is next after he is elected.

As for the nukes, the Feds know there are already at least 3 to 9 nuclear devices hidden somewhere by terrorists in the United States. These bombs came over the Mexican border back in the mid-1990s and the Clintons knew all about it back then. You’re worrying over something that is already here.

Not to mention we get Canadian Health Care with Hillary or O.
Forget Insurance being mandated and becoming a payroll deduction, it is CARE that will be rationed. Forget new drugs, forget research. Old people who voted for her will find themselves living with their pain for the collective good of the masses.

The Clintons loathe the US military.  No way will I hand it over to her.

Not to me. We have always overcome our enemies overseas. See my tag line for what this is all about.

Anthony Kennedy, who authored the Kelo decision which gutted the Fifth Amendment, was appointed by Reagan. David Souter, who concurred, was appointed by Bush I. Sandra Day O'Connor, appointed by Reagan, wrote the decision which upheld the gutting of the First Amendment by McCain-Feingold, as well as decisions in Grutter, which upheld the University of Michigan's racist admission practices; BSA v. Dale, which prohibited the Boy Scouts from barring gay scout leaders.

What sort of sense should one take from your post?

Is the aggregate of the decisions made by Dem appointed judges that much superior? Have they handed down superior decisions over the last 50 years? Did they make decisions that supported the constitution better than the Republican appointed Justices over time?

Do you think the chance of their judicial selection ability is that much superior over the chance a Rehnquist, Scalia, Thomas, Roberts, or Alito type nominated by a Republican President?

Tell us. Share your selection wisdom.

I’ll try to explain something that will help you both understand the people who do not agree with you and perhaps help you better prepare your points when you promote your candidate in the future.

Just to be crystal clear, I am not picking on you, nor am I angry or upset at your posts. You just happen to be the least offensive of the McCain supporters I’ve seen in the last few threads. This isn’t an attack or an insult, nor should you read it as an endorsement nor as an attack on your candidate.

First, you need to understand how McCain is perceived. He is not JUST perceived as having promoted many issues that are seen as outrageous. His betrayals of the conservative cause are documented, and very much resented - but these facts alone do not really tell you the full truth about how he is perceived by those who refuse to vote for him.

It never is about Hillary or Obama for these voters and trying to drag them into this at this point in time infuriates your opponents because you are not acknowledging the central issue.

The central perception of McCain is that he is wholly unfit to be considered as a viable candidate. In many eyes, sir, he’s just illegitimate. His candidacy should not even be recognized as anything but a mortal insult and affront.

Arguing his virtues is like talking about celery freshness during a wildfire. Comparing him to real conservatives sounds absurd to the ears of those who reject him. You are not talking about someone who CAN be considered a REAL conservative candidate in anything but a fevered delerium.

What I am trying to illustrate for you is the complete separation of the concept of “Candidate I am ABLE to vote for” and the concept of “Senator McCain”. It is the same as the concept of “Women I am ABLE to consider dating” and “Elton John”.

So, a lot of the arguments are falling on deaf ears. You are in essence calling us up every few hours to tell us how beautiful Elton John is in a bikini. How lovely his long eyelashes are as he parades in a silky dress and wouldn’t we want to date her.

You’re insistent we should gaze in awe at Elton John’s calves as he glides past in a dress and you can’t seem to understand why we’re laughing ourselves silly.

Oh, and to extend a metaphor to the stretching point, to the same voters, Obama is like Che Guevara in a Dress and Hillary is a Morlock from “The Time Machine”. Note that neither is a “Woman I can consider dating”.

LOL. Of course this begs the question of where the Log Cabin Republicans stand on McCain and, for that matter, Elton John?

Both of you are correct. The Supreme Court and the WOT (Iraq) are major issues and Hussein/Hillary are not an option.
