Dr. Laura: Women Share the Blame for Cheating Men. (See, it's mostly her fault).
MSNBC ^ | 3-11-08 | Mike Celezic

Dr. Laura Schlessinger has never been one to shrink from controversy, and she leaped headlong into one on Monday when she said that if a husband cheats, his wife may share some of the blame.

“When the wife does not focus in on the needs and the feelings, sexually, personally, to make him feel like a man, to make him feel like a success, to make him feel like her hero, he’s very susceptible to the charm of some other woman making him feel what he needs,” the popular psychologist and radio personality said.

More commonly known as just “Dr. Laura,” Schlessinger made the remarks while participating in one of several panel discussions on TODAY dealing with the breaking news that New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer had been connected to a high-priced prostitution ring.

What would you classify as demeaning acts?

It could be that Spitzer is simply an an arrogant jerk with a sense of entitlement. His wife may or may not be “adventurous” in bed. No matter what, there is no excuse for adultery or going to prostitutes.

Maybe Spitzer’s taste for sexual activities that might not seem safe, had something to do with his lack of sexual satisfaction in his marriage

I just heard on FOX that that unsafe thing was that he liked to have sex with the prostitutes without condoms. I don't know what that really means as far as the psychology of it, but I do know it's even more disrespectful to his wife. OY.

Selfish is refusing to lose weight to make your husband happy.

Glad to hear your friend found a man who likes heavier women, there are plenty of them out there. The problem is when a man marries a thin wife (and finds thin attractive), works hard to stay fit himself and the wife doesn't care enough to do the same.

So perhaps the REAL problem isn't exactly the weight problem but rather that the selfish wife doesn't care about her husband's happiness.

Pay attention dearest,
I deal with weight issues as part of my job and your first paragraph proves you to be totally clueless as to what makes and creates body weight....it if was as simple as you’d say, lots of my colleges would be out of work.

But it’s not simple. While I have no pity for selfish, whiney, self absorbed morons, I do have tremendous sympathy for the poor people who have to endure their loutish behaviors.

As for your second paragraph,
My sympathies to your hand for having to provide you with sex...

I think we have come full circle on this. Silda Spitzer did the marital equal of the perp walk (standing by her cheating husband) at the podium. Now, the discourse is down to how 'adventerous' Mrs. Spitzer may or may not be. Wrong.

The discussion should be how a politician could campaign on 'reform' and cleaning up New York and then be frequenting the very establishments his administration sought to clean up. We should be talking, money laundering, fraud, income tax evasion, RICO laws, prostition, and the morale decay that has cause one in four (twenty five friggin percent!!!) of American teenage girls to have an STD. Mrs. Spitzer's preferences are the none issue.

What if she’s horney?

Just curious (and yes, I’ve read all of “Dr.” L’s books and that is why I believe she is the Queen Mother of Dutified Doormats).

I think we’re cool Hildy....

Just understand, I’d rather have my throat cut with a rusty knife than ever ever go through anything that even remotely resembled what I went through before. And duty was the number one word used to keep me in line. So I choke on it.

If the sole happiness in the relationship is whether or not the wife maintains being a size four then there are much, much bigger problems present than the advent of cellulite.

Lets see,
anal sex without a condom counts as a demeaning act in my book— and extremely unsafe in the hookers....especially if you do it with the hooker and then trot home to wifey....

Feel better? It’s astounding to me that people will take the time to go back months, sometimes years, to try to one-up someone else on FR. So sad. Holding online grudges is just so pitiful. If you do it to an anonymous poster, I wonder how you treat the people in your real life. You’re happy? Don’t buy it. Happy people don’t go out of their way and purposely try to hurt someone they don’t know. I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

That’s a steaming pile of b.s. Men or women who cheat on their spouses have no one to blame but themselves.

Did it ever dawn on you that your lack of success in marriage is a result of your selfish view that you don’t have a responsibility to work at making her husband happy as well as yourself? It is not the fat I think, its just a symptom of selfishness on the fat spouses part.

You are an awful person that can't handle rational discussion of difficult subjects without resorting to vicious personal attacks.

Let me repeat, you cannot gain weight from NOTHING. Do you you understand the basics of energy production??? You cannot get fat if you eat the amount of calories your body NEEDS... not what you WANT. Geeez... this is really simple. If you indeed have a medical condition that MAKES you fat you would be in the very very small minority, and even then... eat less to match body needs, no weight gain.

I agree on that particular act. It’s not something I have an interest in even thought I know a couple of women who claim to enjoy it.

I think a couple should engage in specific acts that they BOTH agree on or are BOTH willing to try. If one is against it, that is the decision for both. It’s why it is so important to discuss those things prior to marriage.

Look,
I married my father-— (in very real terms) with unfinished business. The most evil man who ever walked and I married his clone-— wearing a minister’s collar and speaking of damning me to hell for being....well, me.

You see, I told him my greatest fear and my deepest weaknesses....and he hurt me, scared me.....destroyed everything I loved and drove away anyone who cared for me.

He damn near killed me (literally) but when it was all done, the wounds were cleansed and I could function as a strong member of society without bowing to a raised hand or voice ever again.

An unfinished war-— necessary but ugly, but necessary.

And yes, my reward was a wonderful relationship later that took away a lot of the darkness.

So no, this isn’t about something as simple as body fat or sex.........
if only-— I like sex and I like my weight where it is....

Seriously, I went in Doris Day and came out Deloris Clayborn without the smiles and giggles.
