Can we as a sector of the political spectrum come to a consenses on a canidate for president? I believe we have squandered our opportunity to influence this election by not actively supporting the candidate that best represented conservative positions - and so we were appointed John Mccain. Now believe me, given the alternatives of Barack/Hillery, I do hope that JM wins, but he will have to do it without my vote. I believe that with the numbers FR reaches, that we could still make a difference if we could only agree - and throw our support behind a candidate via write-in that would show the GOP and JM that they need our support. Sure, our efforts may not produce a win - but to speak with one voice would be powerful and hopefully effective at moving or at least slowing the tilt to the Left that the GOP is taking. As you can see by my number of posts, I do not tend to say much - and hopefully a fellow conservative will take my thoughts and express them more ellegantly and effectively - but come on people, we are #2 in political websites in the world - that is powerful! Lets put that power to work while there is still time. Regards, Paul Via Blackberry - so please forgive the spell/structure
When you do, I will. Let’s not post to each other, because I don’t want it to get ugly.
Where did the poster of this thread say he is not voting?
You scared? Please point out where my post to you did not make sense.
All the evidence is that we can't. Supporters of Ron Paul, Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo, Fred Thompson, Mike Huckabee, and some folks I'm forgetting formed mutually exclusive camps a long time ago, while others were backing McCain or Giuliani as the best equipped to beat the Dems.
None of that has changed, except that trying to form a consensus behind a candidate now is pointless.

"We were appointed?" That sounds like a DU post circa January 2001. McCain made his case to Republican voters, and the others didn't.

Is that a comfortable fence you're sitting on?
“I do hope that JM wins, but he will have to do it without my vote”
Here
Let’s just agree to disagree. Don’t vote against Obama, ok? I should be more respectful for your opinion, please respect mine.
That’s not saying he/she is not voting, does it?
I think we’re talking about 2 different posts here, lol. I have been referring to your post about telling someone to get off the board.

L88, you may have misunderstood. The poster intends to vote... just not for mccain, hillary, or obama.
... and throw our support behind a candidate via write-in...
I dislike McCain, but given the choice between him or Hillary/Obama answering that 3 am phone call it is an easy choice. Giving Hillary/Obama the win by staying home from the election will doom our country. Look at the difference even a small conservative majority on the SCOTUS on the landmark Heller 2nd amendment case. With Hillary/Obama we can be assured of more liberal judges. With Hillary/Obama the daily IEDs and suicide bombing won’t be in Baghdad, but in US cities. Yes, McCain is not my choice by any means, but the alternative is too repugnant to contemplate.
When conservatives whine that “McCain was appointed”, they have switched places with liberals as the Crybaby Party.
Since John McCain is a liberal Democrat who happens to have an 'R' by his name, I won't be voting for him. I'll have to either do a write-in or vote third-party.
There you go. Hope this helps. Have a nice day.
Freebird!!
oh, sorry I misread.
CC
Yup.
Tagline.
......and for the right to vote or not vote for whoever we want to vote for.
You vastly overestimate the influence of FR.
Thanks for fixing my hangover spelling!!
Nah, it's the reading glasses smudged with fingerprints. LOL.
Actually, I thought it might have been a play on words, though such subtlety is so rare.
Without a doubt. I know it wasn't a play on words I was just trying to bail the guy out.
"McCain poses a clear and present danger to Obama in that he draws Democrat base support in historic numbers," said Republican strategist Scott Reed."
