In the annals of judicial imperialism, we have arrived at a strange new chapter. A California court ruled this month that parents cannot "home school" their children without government certification. No teaching credential, no teaching. Parents "do not have a constitutional right to home school their children," wrote California appellate Justice Walter Croskey.
The 166,000 families in the state that now choose to educate their children at home must be stunned. But at least one political lobby likes the ruling. "We're happy," the California Teachers Association's Lloyd Porter told the San Francisco Chronicle. He says the union believes all students should be taught only by "credentialed" teachers, who will in due course belong to unions.

You tossed out the blanket "most people are dumb as post" statement and waited for people to react. Here's the thing - when you come to a homeschooling thread and throw out statements like that and we can "go to hell" you're going to get exactly what you came looking for - some defensive homeschooling parents. That then allows you to play the "how dare you say your kids are superior than mine" act.

good point. Humblegunner is just bullying us in here because of our family & lifestyle choice. There are worse things in life than being ridiculed by people like him, for choosing to homeschool my four children. There was hostility on his part from his 1st post going into this topic, so obviously there is a whole lot behind why he’s so angry toward those of us who believe in school choice and the rights of parents to exercise our God-given freedom to raise our families according to our convictions.
The courts have time and time again ruled parantage to be a constitutional right issue.
This idiotic ruling will not stand.

Nowhere in our Constitution is there any provision that gives government any power to abrogate it.
And so, the Tenth applies.

It irritates me that people come into these threads and tell me that I'm arrogant. Believe me, I've got nothing to be arrogant about. I'm disorganized, my house is in a consistent state of disarray and yet, despite me - my kids are learning something.
My 1st grader is doing 2nd grade Math. Does that sound like I'm bragging? I guess it would to a parent who puts their child in public school and visits these threads. But to me, it's amazing. When I told my Dad that we were going to homeschool he told me I was going to screw my kids up. So yes, I am proud and excited and amazed that *I* am teaching my kids and they are learning from *me*. But that in no way makes me arrogant.
