BET Founder: 'Liberal Media' Want Obama to Win Photo of Matthew Sheffield. By Matthew Sheffield | April 18, 2008 - 11:47 ET
Bob Johnson, founder of BETThe continuing left-wing furor over George Stephanopoulos's perfectly valid question about Barack Obama's associations with a known terrorist reminded me of something I wanted to blog earlier in the week before it erupted: an admission of a leftward bias on the part of the media from BET founder Bob Johnson.
Interviewed by the Charlotte Observer Tuesday, Johnson said that the "liberal media" want Obama to win, partly out of racial pandering but also because he is more liberal than Hillary Clinton (whom Johnson supports).
"They sort of dislike Hillary for her vote on the war. They don't want to see Bill and Hillary in power again," Johnson is quoted as saying. "So Obama comes in and runs a smart campaign. But that's not the Second Coming, in my opinion, of John F. Kennedy, FDR or the world's greatest leaders." Story Continues Below Ad ↓
Johnson also said that former Democratic vice presidential candidate Geraldine Ferraro was correct in stating that Obama would not have gotten as far in the race if he wasn't partially black:
"What I believe Geraldine Ferraro meant is that if you take a freshman senator from Illinois called 'Jerry Smith' and he says I'm going to run for president, would he start off with 90 percent of the black vote?" Johnson said. "And the answer is, probably not... ."
"Geraldine Ferraro said it right. The problem is, Geraldine Ferraro is white. This campaign has such a hair-trigger on anything racial ... it is almost impossible for anybody to say anything."
A very interesting interview all around. I think he's wrong about the 90 percent remark since initially, it was Clinton who had the majority of black support. It wasn't until more non-black voters started supporting Obama that the black vote flipped toward him.
Minus that quibble, though, Johnson's comments are pretty good. It's not often you see a media elite like him admit the national press is dramatically tilted toward the liberal side of things.

Klintons must have this guys’ pictures having sex with monkeys or something.
Well I give the guy credit for at least being honest and not supporting Obama based on the color of his skin alone.

Oh the whining is getting unbearable. They ask legitimate questions and he gets mad. If he can’t handle tough questions from a friendly media now, HOW is going to be strong as president?? I would love to hear McCain hit him with this kind of thing but he wants to just “reach out.”
Has anybody pointed out that this is NOT a prime example of Identity Politics? Obama is not totally black, Hillary’s not totally a woman....... so much for I.P.
Ever Flavor Flav knows this!
I'm not so sure this qualifies as "guts". Spin this on a thin dime; if the MSM was drooling over Hillary, would the BET guy be just as vocal or more likely contentedly silent?
Chickens home to roost indeed.. John McLaim is a fart in a whirlwind..
Bob Johnson needs to worry more about the Bobcats winning.
HATE SPEECH! Off to reeducation camp, you racist bigot!
Everybody knows "monkey" is just a 'code word' for 'maccaca'.....
Sorry. I meant Chickens.
That's is somewhat better, but still slightly suspect, what with the stereotypes of 'chicken thief', not to mention 'fried chicken'.
remember: One of Obama's supporters (probably planted by the campaign) even asked him at a town hall, if Hillary was being "racist" by using "elitist" in referrrence to his 'bitter' statements.
I beleive they want to ban half the words in the dictionary as "racist".
Nah... they just want you to shut up and pay up, Whitey.
Hey, that’s pretty farfetched. ;’)
