Wednesday afternoon's shooting comes on the heels of a particularly violent weekend in the city. Between Friday night and early Monday morning, 36 people were shot in Chicago, nine fatally, and two people were stabbed.

That site’s inaccurate. I looked up the area near my dad’s neighborhood. One of the neighbors was “busted” for “burglary.” One problem. That guy doesn’t live there or have the last name of who lives there.
You are here to relate the incident today so I would consider that hesitation to be a smart move.

Might be hard for you to believe, but Texas major cities are very close to or in some cases actually exceed per capita major crime rates as opposed to Chicago.
Sweeping the streets (locking up) everybody out after dark would end this quickly. Anybody want to guess how many illegal guns would be taken (in tons).
My betting is that the black gangs in LA are being overwhelmed by the Mexicans. This has emboldened the Mexican gangs to overplay their hand in the big cities in other parts of the country like chicago. but maybe not. either way the turf wars over drugs are likely to get much bigger and badder. its a mixed bag. when you look at the people wanted for murder in Washington DC — its all hispanics. When you look at Philadelphia—its more evenly mixed between hispanics and american blacks.

The West Side's downturn started after you left. The Vice Lords formed in 1958 in the North Lawndale area. They are there to this day selling dope and killing. There are still numerous vacant lots where buildings once stood that the rioters burned down after King was killed. Such a vibrant neighborhood, it looks like Hiroshima now. Even the Sears complex on Arthington is gone except for the Administration Building and the origional Sears Tower at Arthington and Homan Ave. So sad.

After Baxetball season, invite all the different gangs to a shootout at the stadium. 10 or so gangs, a sh!tload of guns, etc. in the middle of the floor, and the Marines outside to shoot anyone who tries to prematurely escape from the building before the 24 hour period is over. Let them kill each other. Three survivors get 100000 dollars each (in cash.) Put tracking devices on the contestants, and TV cameras in the building, and you have a blockbuster. And you rid the city of gang crime.
