Breaking News: Travisd Childers beats Greg Davis in MS Special Election
CNN | May 13th, 2008 | Self

Posted on 05/13/2008 7:51:36 PM PDT by The_Republican

CNN just reported Childers beat Davis.

Dick Cheney campaigned for the Republican candidate in that district.

GOP ran commercials tying Democrat to Obama and Reverend Wright.

Thrid straight special Election where long held GOP seat is lost.

This in MISSISSIPPI. WOW!

This is not good news by any means.

The latest direct mail piece accuses Davis, the mayor of the Memphis suburb of Southaven, of attempting to honor Confederate general and Ku Klux Klan founder Nathan Bedford Forrest with a statue of him in his hometown -- a charge that the Davis campaign vigorously disputes.

And on Sunday, Democratic officials distributed DCCC fliers at African-American churches in the district that accuse Republicans of making it “harder for us to vote – fake phone calls, calls with the wrong election date, uniformed guards at the polls, even people inside the polls challenging each and every vote.”

(no "hard truths" here, just same old race baiting by the Dims)

Basically, Davis was a weak candidate who ran an unfocused campaign, and still almost won.

No, he lost by 8 points.

Your right. This race was obviously decided on by direct mail and fliers. The republicans have been doing everything right over recent years, and are doing everything right as we speak. If they hold to the status quo they will take back the house and senate in landslide victories with McCain leading the way...

Are you looking to buy any bridges?

LOL....Republicans in DC spend too much money...so Republicans in some State decide, gee, I'm mad at all that spending....so I'll vote NOT for the Conservative Republican rep, but the tax and spend Democrat Party Rep...and that will surely curb spending in DC...

Totally illogical.

Of course maybe with the idiocy of the Republican voters these days,(ie, our primary), that irrational train of thought could have happened.

And Ropnald Regan granted amnesty to illegals.

And as Gov voted to allow abortions for mothers that were at risk in child birth.

And as gov started the destruction of the American family with his first in the US no fault divorce law.

Osma credits Reagan with building Al Qeda with his surrender in Lebanon ( See Arnett PBS Interview with OBL)

Regan was a huge RINO by today’s Christ like expectations of candidates.

"He was hurt by the national GOP."

Perhaps, but the demographics of Mississippi killed him in ANY race against the DNC, which will soon have Obama at the top of the ticket.

And he will do everything in his power to keep abortion legal...

Of course he will. That is a Democrat non-negotiable.

We’d better pray that McCain steamrolls Obama, because the alternative will be far worse for America and the world than a few seething rank and file republicans.

You are right. ‘Conservative democrats’ get passes to vote conservative on votes where it won’t make a difference, as long as they toe the liberal line on the big votes. There was a book published about 15 years ago - ‘The Ruling Class’ - that discussed this scam from both sides of the aisle.

If need be, they can craft amendments that they know won’t pass, but allow their ‘conservatives’ to cast meaningless conservative votes while promoting the party line and saying, “But I did the best I could before I had to compromise and vote for the only bill standing.”

Chet Edwards, Democrat from Ft Hood, is a perfect example. He carries Pelosi’s water, coffee and tea, but keeps getting elected in Killeen.

I think the Democrats have figured out how to beat Republicans. Run as a phony conservative, and point out that they’re no worse than the Republican phony conservatives.

By Republican phony conservatives, I mean that nothing conservative has actually been accomplished in Congress for some time.

Hopefully this is a wake-up call for the do-nothing, big-spending, corruption-mongering GOP Congress we’ve had for years.

Well, I like do-nothing Congresses, but other than that quibble, don't hold your breath. 2006 didn't wake them up. Wasn't a movie made about them? The Living Dead or something?

Good point, but we probably won't care--the reeducation camps will take care of that for those who haven't absorbed enough reeducation from the MSM.

GAWD!!!! Don't get me started on that POS, mealy mouthed, demorat, lying, sack of solid nitrogenous waste.

Every time I think about him spouting off about how "hard I work" to bring home the bacon to our district I want to puke. That and of course how he SAVES THE VA every two years, as if the Republicans will throw the vets under the overpass on I-35.

Chet Edwards blows goats..... but it depends on what your meaning of "blow" and "goat" is.
