Clinton Remark on Robert Kennedy’s Killing Stirs Uproar
New York Times ^ | May 24, 2008 | KATHARINE Q. SEELYE

BRANDON, S.D. — Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton defended staying in the Democratic nominating contest on Friday by pointing out that her husband had not wrapped up the nomination until June 1992, adding, “We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California.”

Her remarks were met with quick criticism from the campaign of Senator Barack Obama, and within hours of making them Mrs. Clinton expressed regret, saying, “The Kennedys have been much on my mind the last days because of Senator Kennedy,” referring to the recent diagnosis of Senator Edward M. Kennedy’s brain tumor. She added, “And I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation and in particular the Kennedy family was in any way offensive.”

Still, the comments touched on one of the most sensitive aspects of the current presidential campaign — concern for Mr. Obama’s safety. And they come as Democrats have been talking increasingly of an Obama/Clinton ticket, with friends of the Clintons saying that Bill Clinton is musing about the possibility that the vice presidency might be his wife’s best path to the presidency if she loses the nomination.

When her people are out calling Foxnews the most fair network, you know the MSM has turned on her hardcore.

LOL. I hadn't heard that one.

Good grief! She was discussing the history of primaries. What is next? If she mentions Nixon, is she suggesting someone impeach Obama? If she mentions Lincoln, is she suggesting someone should kill him in a theater?

...or if she mentions Carter, is she suggesting she hopes Obama gets attacked by a wabbit?

“What bloody context? Just hearing about this and I’m ready to buy and a gun and start shooting.”

Ok, that’s beyond ridiculous.

“I can’t believe people are defending Shrillary over this!” Maybe if you read what she said or saw the video you’d understand.

“This is the context: She is calling on her peops, help me out. Blow this mofo’s brains out so I can win.” BS. Utter BS. If you read the entire statement that is not what she was doing. This is ridiculous. Notice it’s the liberal media who reading the most ridiculous things into statements (Bush’s remarks in Israel come to mind?), and now people here are sheeping along to it.

“What other context do you think she is suggesting. That is EXACTLY what she is thinking. Someone can turn out his lights and she wins by DEFAULT.” First of all, you nor anyone else knows exactly what she’s thinking. Only she does.

“My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right?” “We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California.”

She made this point to when asked why she was staying in until June. Her answer is because, as history has shown us, it’s not over until it’s over. Ted Kennedy took it to the convention to, why shouldn’t she. She has a colorable argument to stay in and she was using past precedent to show she’s not some looney trying to take the party down as the MSM is making her out to be so their messaih can start running against McCain. Look, the MSM is in bed with the DNC and they both realize Obama needs to be fighting on one front only. They’re pushing her out and doing so, in part, by claiming she’s some renegade who’s out to take the party down. That’s BS. She’s got a good argument for not quiting.

“Because she wants the POWER.” Like every other politician. Give me a break.

“And apparently this was no mere slip. I’ve heard it reported that she has said this in MARCH.” Provide the link. I also recall she made a reference to assination in the past, but I believe it was an entirely different context than this.

“Okay, don’t take this personal as I don’t mean to attack you here but please tell me what context all these defenders of Shrillary are trying to explain.” I wish I would’ve read this sooner.

“I am not an Obama supporter but I am an American. And this b()**%^ needs to be taken to the back of the shed and put of her misery.” That’s extreme.

“For the good of the nation. I’m disgusted by her remarks but have to say in a way glad that America can see her for who she is.” I don’t read her remarks that way, but I agree with the last part, I’m glad America has finally woken up to the real Clintons.

Obamma life span would not be worth a plug nickel if his heart beating was the only thing keeping here from the presidents office. Come to think of it she is saying that, the contract has been let!!

I don’t have a drop of sympathy for this witch - I have a whole Word file of disgusting quotes she’s made - lists of things she’s done, etc and I use these when I encounter someone who is naive enough to think she’s human.

She may have been wishing someone would take out Obama but she just took herself out. Karma!

I agree with everything you said, except I disagree about the media. It’s spinning what she said. If you watch the video/read the full statements, most objective people would agree.

They are pushing her out because they want their liberal king in there.

Excellent point. This is why we need to not let the MSM get a free pass on this. One has to seperate one’s hate for the bigger picture. McCain is not the most eloquent speaker. He’s no Bush, but he’s bound to misspeak and if the MSM is going to get away with this sort of stretching, of reframing, it’s going to be a sad day in November.

Agreed. I’ve enjoyed watching the Clintons be moderately exposed for the trash they are, but, the media still has to be held accountable. Let’s not forget what they did to Iraq. We can’t lose all three branches.

In that case, she would be suggesting that Obama spend the rest of his life touring the world, looking for dictators and terrorists that he can suck up to...

That imagery cannot be invoked.

The irony here is that it has been Obama, his staff, his supporters and his friends in the Obama-Slurping Mainstream Terrorist Media who have raised the morbid, Kennedy-esque spectre of Obamartyrdom. http://proteinwisdom.com/?p=12281

that’s been the pattern for some time now . . . it’s the tougest job . . . you should be willing to campaign for every vote, you shoudl eb willing to debate anytime anywhere . . . people have been trying to push me out ever since Iowa . . . I find it curious because it is unprecedent in history . . . there has been this urgency to end this . . . historically that makes no sense. Q: you don’t buy the party unity argument? I don’t because again I’ve been around long enough and my husband did not wrap up . . . “

PLEASE it’s not debattable. Notice that only two sentence, TWO SENTENCES are being reported. The entire context is lost. I despise Hillary. I think she’s a liar, she’s corrupt, she’s hypocritical, she’s dangerous for this country, but damn it, this is BS, wrong is wrong. If they’re going to spin like this for BO against CLINTON, they’re going to slime McCain in ways that would make the last eight years seem like they had kids gloves on against Bush.

March 6, 2008 interview in TIME magazine:
TIME: Can you envision a point at which—if the race stays this close—Democratic Party elders would step in and say, “This is now hurting the party and whoever will be the nominee in the fall”?

CLINTON: No, I really can’t. I think people have short memories. Primary contests used to last a lot longer. We all remember the great tragedy of Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in June in L.A. My husband didn’t wrap up the nomination in 1992 until June. Having a primary contest go through June is nothing particularly unusual.

I think she just suggested someone assassinate Bill Clinton! After all...she DID compare his campaign to Robert Kennedy’s. Proof positive that she wants her husband dead.

It’s not debattable. So what, she made the same point in the past, so what? Are you people seriously playing by the Obama rules now? She can’t bring up Kennedy’s assiniation - it’s off the table like Michelle Obama. Nope, can’t bring up historical fact that serves as a second and third example of how the decision isn’t always wrapped up by June. Nope can’t do it b/c Obama is black and the bad bad racists in America who didn’t vote for him by hear this and shoot him for Hillary.

Sorry folks, but people siding with the MSM on this are in the lefty camp. This is ridiculous.
