Rock-solid Proof? (Man and Dinosaur Walked the Earth Together?)

A slab of North Texas limestone is on track to rock the world, with its two imbedded footprints poised to make a huge impression in scientific and religious circles.

The estimated 140-pound stone was recovered in July 2000 from the bank of a creek that feeds the Paluxy River near Glen Rose, Texas, located about 53 miles south of Fort Worth. The find was made just outside Dinosaur Valley State Park, a popular destination for tourists known for its well-preserved dinosaur tracks and other fossils.

The limestone contains two distinct prints – one of a human footprint and one belonging to a dinosaur. The significance of the cement-hard fossil is that it shows the dinosaur print partially over and intersecting the human print.

In other words, the stone’s impressions indicate that the human stepped first, the dinosaur second. If proven genuine, the artifact would provide evidence that man and dinosaur roamed the Earth at the same time, according to those associated with the find and with its safekeeping. It could potentially toss out the window many commonly held scientific theories on evolution and the history of the world.

Finding scholars and experts on evolution, paleontology or creationism to speak about the discovery proved difficult. Some who were contacted said they didn’t want to comment on the prints without a personal inspection or without review of data from scientific tests.

However, Dr. Phillip Murry, a vertebrate paleontology instructor in the Geoscience department of Tarleton State University at Stephenville, Texas, stated in his response to an interview request: “There has never been a proven association of dinosaur (prints) with human footprints.”

The longtime amateur archeologist who found the fossil thinks that statement is now proven untrue.

The only “fossils” found in complete isolation without similar examples or pieces nearby in either life or death assemblages, with only one nearly perfect example known, and that example is so remarkable if true that it would topple centuries of conventional paleontological wisdom, fall neatly into the Piltdown man catagory.

Well then, when you sail around the earth, you will fall off the edge. what is it you don't understand about a flat earth?

Baloney - I’ve been hearing of these things since I was a kid and not one of them have been proven genuine. Heck, I still remember this guy who claimed to have found a gold chain inside a lump of coal. Of course, you had to pay him a fee to see it. lol!

Have you ever seen the footprints of someone who went barefoot for their entire lives? Their feet tend to be broader and the toes splayed out.

I humbly ask any Young Earth Creationist to show me the fossil remains of any human in the same rock stratum as a dinosaur.

Surely that is not too hard of a request.

None have done so.

Well, that just goes to show that men with shoes and dinosaurs walked the Earth together :-)

It is deposited slowly over time either through evaporation of water, over saturation of water or through dissolving of other rocks and moving done stream. It can also be formed from tiny shells and such.

As it is deposited this way many different layers can form which indicated different periods of formation which can be many many years in time. On the rock you can see near the dino print that some layers have either been chiseled or eroded away and the human print goes through these layers.

Since I have been interested in creationism, I have seen several “impossible” things. One of which is rotted wood found in a coal vein. Another was a fossilized tree with end of the trunk in one vein of coal and the other in a vein of coal above it. You can choose to believe or not.

You might be right. It is pretty impressive that you can tell that from the photo. I’ll be interested to see how it carbon dates

Similar ones from that same river in the same location have been around since at least before the early 1970's. There was also a sandal imprint with cast from New Mexico, I believe, with a trilobite in the mud of the heel impression. Other interesting phenomena are trans-strata fossils such as petrified trees in situ crossing strata of vastly differing ages (according to the index fossils of the adjacent strata). In addition, contrary to the pictures in junior and senior high science books of the strata stacked from pre-Cambrian to Holocene, they can be found in any order, youngest on oldest, oldest on youngest, and in almost any other imaginable combination. One can also find strata that change age (according to index fossils) horizontally within the same physical layer.

Have you ever seen the foot of someone who has never worn shoes? It’s incredible how much shoes deform the toes.

And this is a foot that’s getting pushed into the mud. I would expect the toes to spread out a bit, wouldn’t you?

You can choose to believe or not.

Belief has nothing to do with it. The investigation of "solids within solids" goes back at least to Nicolas Steno.

Here’s what I suggest: do an outline of your own foot (without shoes or socks) and shrink the image down on a copier. Overlay a cut-out on the picture at the top of this article and than think about what you see.

Feet spread out during aging, bare or not. I have small feet theat are wide. But these weird toes aren’t from spreading; whoever did the forgery stuck them on at an impossible angle!
