55% Say Media Bias Bigger Problem Than Campaign Cash
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 7/11/08 | Staff

Voters overwhelmingly believe that politicians will “break the rules to help people who give them a lot of money,” but most say there’s a bigger problem in politics today—media bias.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 55% believe media bias is more of a problem than big campaign contributions. Thirty-six percent (36%) disagree and think that campaign cash is a bigger problem.

People believe media bias is a bigger problem even though 63% believe most politicians will break the rules to help campaign contributors. Just 14% believe most politicians would refrain from breaking the rules for a donor. Forty-four percent (44%) say that lobbyists and campaign contributors have too much influence on John McCain’s positions. Forty percent (40%) say the same about Barack Obama.

Just 22% believe it would be a good idea to ban all campaign commercials so that voters could receive information on the campaign only from the news media and the internet. Sixty-six percent (66%) disagree and think that, despite the annoyance factor, it’s better to put up with an election-year barrage of advertising rather than rely on the news media.

I would agree. If virtually all the media back one candidate and twist the news then we have lost our Republic.

All the advertising purchased by those illegal funds would be mute if we had a press that actually 1) started out with an actual degree in something requiring study, 2) did some research, 3) reported it accurately. Then, we might actually believe them.

Media bias? What media bias?
We haven’t heard a thing since Obama when to Hawaii for a vacation after his Europe and ME vacation/ tour. I wonder why... I guess media didn’t want to see him visiting places like the the department of vital statistics and certain churches...

The media isn’t biased toward the DNC, the media “is” the DNC.

We should be way past complaining about it. Its pointless to complain about it. We have to find our own ways to communicate our message without having to forever beg the use of our enemy’s microphone.

But step one, for the rank and file, should be to just turn off the DNC media. Just turn them off.

If virtually all the media back one candidate and twist the news then we have lost our Republic.

But for Rush and a small handfull of others, the media does back on candidate, and they do twist the news in favor of that candidate. The mainstream media, television and print, are predominantly in the DNC's pocket.

“...just turn off the DNC media. Just turn them off.”

Done.

Circa 1998.

The only sliver of light we’ve had, had been due to the fact that the media themselves were split for a time between Clinton and Obama, and we were getting a bit of critical coverage as a result. But that is going away as the press solidifies its support behind the winner. There are a few Clintonist holdouts who are still attacking Obama, but things will settle out soon.

Let them even show more praise and adoration toward Obama. Even now, many Democrats and independents already say they've seen too much of Obama.

What? You mean the Valley-churian Candidate? Who’s every move, look and expression has been coached by teams of the Communist Party members of Hollywood?

Can there be any question that the MSM is the biggest problem. Really, when we have the National Enquirer breaking the Edwards story that the MSM had been ignoring, is it any wonder their numbers are dropping.

The most important point of this poll is that 91% of those polled recognized the media is biased - 36% think campaign cash is a bigger problem than the bias, the other 55% think otherwise.

If virtually all of the media marches in lockstep with one party, there is a monopoly on media ownership and a de facto state media (it is a united press that is partisan for 51% of the government and against the other 49%).
