Dick Morris: "Obama — the New Jimmy Carter"
NewsMax.com ^ | 20 Aug 08 | Dick Morris & Eileen McGann

Posted on 08/20/2008 6:40:46 AM PDT by seanmerc

Last week raised important questions about whether Barack Obama is strong enough to be president. On the domestic political front, he showed incredible weakness in dealing with the Clintons, while on foreign and defense questions, he betrayed a lack of strength and resolve in standing up to Russia’s invasion of Georgia.

This two-dimensional portrait of weakness underscores fears that Obama might, indeed, be a latter-day Jimmy Carter.

Consider first the domestic and political. Bill and Hillary Clinton have no leverage over Obama. Hillary can’t win the nomination. She doesn’t control any committees. If she or her supporters tried to disrupt the convention or demonstrate outside, she would pay a huge price among the party faithful.

He’s Malcolm X in a Dukakis Monkey Suit in blackface. The last person to pull this off was Julie Andrews in Victor Victoria.

“Nope. James Buchanan.”
-———————yes, maybe, in the sense that Buchanan
was gay.
Did I hear that Larry Sinclair will also
speak at the Convention?

why do the Democrats usually go first?

The party that has the presidency gets to choose.

:You are correct, something about him doesn’t look right.
America may have elected some semi-bald men to be President, but we would not elect someone with 1/4” long hair. I don’t want to quote Don Imus here, but I might......

O’Bama cannot make his own decisions so someone(s) else will make them for him. That someone will not have the interests of the country in mind. Clinton was also indecisive but he seems to have made his own non-decisions and some decisions as well. He rolled with the flow and we got Welfare Reform and a lot less economic damage than could have been expected.

Arugula, inflating tires, and herbal wheatgrass colonics won't win this election.

HMBA....

You are funny!

Good Synopsis, I spent some time with my wife's (Jewish) relatives at a cook out in the Northern Chicago burbs and the topic of discussion turns to the Presidential Race.

One of the 4 is a Staunch Republican and will pull the lever for McCain. The Aunt and host of the cook out notes she would have voted for Hillary, but was miffed that she voted for Obama locally and had broken his promise not to seek the Presidency, chalk one up for maybe not in the Obama Camp. Her husband was harder to read, played devils advocate and talked about facts and Snopes...

But the last voter was the Aunt's Dad. of the 2 elderly gents, he surprised me the most, He couldn't stand Bush, I didn't try to change his mind, but gave him a different perspective. But it is what he said, again he would have voted for Hillary, but their was something about Obama's wife that he didn't trust and would vote for McCain!

I relayed the same sentiments from another gent his age, someone he could relate to and I asked is this your and his gut feel, and he said yes.

The point is this....

This is Obama's backyard, and a voting block that should be his (Liberal Jewish vote) and McCain has a 2/4 split if not 3 out of 4.

I know this is anidotical, but you tell me what is truly going on here. IMHO he can't close the deal. Your line of the condescension rings true, the way this guy holds his head at rallyes scares the bat snaught out of me, he body language reeks of Mussolini.

When John Kerry's wife spoke at the convention in 2004 there was a freaky Evita quality that scared a lot of people. It cost him some votes. When the candidate's wife is a stage mother who is just dying to tell everyone what she thinks - hogging the mic - it's a problem. Americans don't like Dragon Lady types as First Lady. It's not part of our culture. That's part of the reason why Hillary is not the candidate.

Michelle comes across as a little too domineering, too cranky, too much attitude. Americans don't like that in a First Lady. When a guru Messiah is married to a Dragon Lady with ATTITUDE, that may be asking some Americans a bit too much in one election. Those kinds of things belong in a therapist's office, not the Oval Office.

Ha, I was way ahead of Dick Morris - I was saying back in primary season that Obama is running for Jimmy Carter’s 2nd term. That is an important theme for Republicans to emphasize in the next two months, although it will only resonate with those voters old enough or informed enough to know what it really means.

So, the Dems just never got around to breaking this rule yet?

If Obama can't deal with Hillary, he can't deal with the the world's thugs.

I'll take "George Bush's Third Term" (as B--whose middle name must never be spoken--Obama likes to say),,, ove "Jimmy Carter's Second Term" ANYDAY!!!!

I was 7-11 at the time of Mr. Carter - old enough to know what an unmitigated disaster he was. I lived on an east west street. East of us were three corner gas stations; south of us was one. You haven't lived until it takes you ten minutes to back out of your driveway, and then another ten minutes to get to the end of the block, because both sides of the street had either parked cars, or cars waiting to get to a gas station. It...well...sucked.

Only one Democrat has been elected as President since that disgrace. It's not by coincidence.

This being an even day, lil dick is saying McCain will win. Tomorrow he will swing back and hannity will have him on so he can hawk his new book. He ALWAYS has a new book out. He is about as right about politics as bob schrum wins elections. Remember, it was lil dick who said obama would get about a 9 point lead from his europe trip and hold it all the way to the rat convention. Wasn’t one of lil dick’s books that assured us the election would be the beast on the rat side and THE ONLY WAY FOR THE REPUBLICANS TO WIN would be to run Condi Rice?
