That is a very good time, if she had got it down to 3:50 would have qualified for the Boston Marathon, or if she had the same time at age 45 she would have qualified as well.

I’ve lived in Valdez the past 18 years. Metlakatla three before that, and Fairbanks for six years in the 70’s while working on the North Slope and other points north.
Alaska is quite different depending on whether you are in the southeast, on the mainland road system near the coast, on the road system in the interior, or out in the rural villages.
More important than the cold for a lot of people is the difference in light from the lower 48, especially in the winter. People with SAD have a hard time. Here in Valdez we get about 350 to 400 inches of snow a year. Doesn’t really go away until May or so.
Another difference that is very noticeable is the lack of people outside of Anchorage. We were down in Kentucky last summer looking at retirement spots and we said no way. Too many darn people. Even Anchorage isn’t that bad, with only 280,000 or so in the metropolitan area. And that is it. Get outside Anchorage and the population density drops _way_ off.
Not as isolated as it used to be. We have cable tv, dsl internet, cellphones (except for lots of dead zones), etc.
Hopefully people will get educated about Alaska and Alaskans now that one of us has hit the big time. Should be interesting.

I was watching the live feeds today. Mac and Sarah in Penn and Obama Biden in Ohio...
It was strikingly dis similar...
Penn... Up beat... Pos... not one neg mention of the opponent... Kudos to Hillary... Sarah built up Mac....and told us about herself. Talked about our country... etc.
contrast with...
Ohio...
Bloveeeateing Biden...(who was obviously registering above .05 alcohol...second time now... you could see the look of exaspiration on Obama’s face as if he were saying...”God, why did “we” pick this guy...?) for about 30 minutes on what a scoundrel Bush and McCain...are...Talking about himself...and I think if I’m not mistakin drawing from the plagierism...of the past ....
THen “finally” introducing Obama...
The contrast was monumental.... One of pos and one of negative...
If this country picks them...then something is really wrong here...and it’s the start of the fall of the roman empire...
Particularly in that population burdened state of Alaska!

Yeah right. Cause Alaska is overpopulated. The Dems are falling right into our trap. Treating her bad is only going to bring more independent women to our side....hopefully for good.
