(Fred) Thompson Takes Palin's Temperature
Newsweek ^ | Sept. 1, 2008 | Andrew Romano

Posted on 09/01/2008 2:26:35 PM PDT by FocusNexus

Fred Thompson is a talented actor, but even he couldn't conceal the fact that he thinks John McCain's new running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is something of a gamble--albeit a gamble that going's to pay off. "No nominee that I've ever heard of has had all the boxes checked," he confessed this afternoon during lunch with NEWSWEEK's convention team here at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown St. Paul, referring to Palin's rather skimpy resume. "Whether she can survive those liabilities depends on things that haven't happened yet. John McCain has lot riding on this. I think she'll do very well, but it's up to her to carry the mail.

Pressed on Palin's inexperience, the Tennessean turned the tables on Obama--as I predicted last week that Republicans would do. "I wonder sometimes what we call experience," he drawled. "How much experience does Barack Obama have? Sitting on the floor of the Senate listening to people talk does not give you foreign-relations experience."

Sarah Palin is the best thing that has happened with this
campaign. She is a breath of fresh air and I can hardly wait
to see her pull the “plugs” on Biden! :D

I agree, and thats why the left wing mud slingers are trying to knock her down, and turn us against her and each other.

>>Thompson Takes Palin’s Temperature<<

That was really a visual I could have done without.

But yes she is a gamble. A worthy gamble, I think. Gambles are never sure things.

as I predicted last week that Republicans would do.

And rightly so. Bambi is a zero, Palin is a hero...nuff said.

A gamble? Sure, McCain is a gamble too, but one I am willing to take given the alternative. Palin and Jindal are the future of the GOP and yes it would have been nice if one or both of them were fully prepared to be POTUS, but you got to do the best you can with what you have got. It would have been nice if Palin could have spent more time in the minors before coming to the big league, but she is most likely a quick study and will rise to the job.

Every time they take aim at her it only backfires on themselves.

They have shown their true colors by this snarky attack on
her and on McCain.

Let the fun begin!

She will get OJT and that will be the best kind. Hands-on
as it were. It will be reality...not abstract, like Obama’s
“experience”. He never even performed the job he was elected
to do! Sheesh!

The headline is suggestive in a vulgar way...makes it seem like he’s using a rectal thermometer.

Tagline still alive and well. Maybe I won’t need to change it till after the election.

“Senator Fred Thompson Praises Senator McCain’s Vice Presidential Pick”

Thanks for adding that information.

The article I posted is a Newsweek interview and Newsweek even brings up Bristol Palin’s pregnancy, read the full article and note the questions.

“rather skimpy resume” is the big lie being drilled in by repetition, and by constant presumtive phrases like this.

The substance of her resume kills both Obama’s and Biden’s. Obama hardly has a resume to speak of.

The real money quote here:

“I wonder sometimes what we call experience,” he drawled. “How much experience does Barack Obama have? Sitting on the floor of the Senate listening to people talk does not give you foreign-relations experience.”

I think Newsweek dude was trying to create a split where none exists here.

Giuliani: Palin More Qualified Than Obama

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2071941/posts

“Mayor GIULIANI: ...Senator Obama is the least experienced candidate for president in the last 100 years. I mean, he’s never run a city, he’s never run a state, he’s never run a business, he’s never administered a payroll, he’s never led people in crisis. My goodness, I mean, he had to put all that emphasis on somebody helping him because he’s never had a record of executive experience. And frankly, during his campaign against Hillary Clinton, the judgments that he displayed demonstrated that he doesn’t have executive experience. ...

...I mean, I think that she (Palin) already has more executive experience than Biden and Obama combined.”

Friday the AP had pictures posted with captions that described Alaska as a “tiny” state. What, tiny as in Delaware tiny?

Wonder if it as large in square miles as Texas.

Last I heard, all candidates running for office take a risk. Any running mate poses some risk.

But, the best part of the article?

"Pushed by NEWSWEEK's reporters and editors to say whether having a pregnant teenage daughter and five-month-old baby with Down syndrome at home will raise questions about Palin's "priorities," Thompson responded by questioning the questioners. "Would you be saying that about man running for office in her shoes?"
