The WSJ will cut Noonan loose, although it will be by "mutual agreement", with some platitude that she is "pursuing other interests".
I don't know anything about Murphy, and whether this will hurt him. But, Noonan is toast.

The only thing commentators have is their credibility. Peggy’s is gone. The only thing over is her career, unless she pulls an Ariana Huffington and goes all the way over to the other side.

They are both clearing quivering RINOs wanting someone in the model of Whitman in NJ (Murphy emphasizes how he comes out of the “blue state world”) who are looking only at how to get someone who can sit in the middle of the political spectrum. That’s not what this pick is about and that’s not what Sarah Palin is about, obviously. The great thing is that McCain DID make the pick, and it will be great once we start fighting back against all the Rat-weasels of the left.
That was one of the better lines Peggy wrote for President Reagan for the hot mike.
