TOP OBAMA CAMPAIGN FINANCIER ATTEMPTED TO STORM STAGE DURING SARAH PALIN SPEECH
Thursday, September 4, 2008 | Kristinn

One of Barack Obama's elite fundraisers from the anti-American group Code Pink attempted to storm the stage last night during Republican vice presidential nominee Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's acceptance speech at the GOP convention in St. Paul.

Jodie Evans, one of a group of about 500 top financiers who have bundled tens of thousands of dollars for the Obama campaign was seized by the Secret Service after she had made her way to side of the stage and and started to yell at Palin.

The Washington Post reported on the incident:

10:45 p.m. A pair of Code Pink activists just got to the very edge of the stage and were a moment away from apparently running on stage, right by the Kentucky slot on the floor next to a host of McCain's most senior staffers.

Secret Service men grabbed them at last minute and literally dragged them out.
--Paul Kane

Evans has bundled between $50,000 and $100,000 for Obama as well as contributing the maximum $2300 to Obama's presidential primary campaign. She co-hosted Obama's breakout Hollywood fundraiser at the start of his campaign in February 2007.

As a bundler, Evans has been given perks that include regular briefings by top campaign staffers on policy and private meetings with Obama and his vice presidential candidate Joe Biden.

Evans is infamous in conservative and military family circles for publicly endorsing the terrorists in Iraq against the American soldiers who toppled Saddam Hussein and have fought to keep free Iraq from falling to the hands of Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups and nations.

Evans has worked with state sponsors of terrorism including the governments of Castro's Cuba and the the late Saddam Hussein. She has also met with Venezualan dictator Hugo Chavez and has professed her "love" for him.

Evans has led Code Pink's campaign against the Marines in Berkeley where the group has called the Marines "assassins" and Evans herself has compared the Marine recruiting center in Berkeley to a porn shop.

Code Pink issued a press release a short while ago bragging about their attempt to disrupt Palin's speech:

Co-founders Medea Benjamin and Jodie Evans, who were given their tickets to the speech by a Republican delegate who was frustrated with the Republican party and Sarah Palin, caught the attention of Palin with their banners and shouting about 15 minutes into her speech. Palin stopped talking for a moment to turn to look at them.

After another moment, security then grabbed Benjamin and Evans and escorted them one at a time out of the St. Paul Xcel Center, where they were held until the end of the Palin’s speech and told they would be arrested if they tried to reenter. They were told they’d committed an arrestable offense but they were not charged.

“Sarah Palin is not a woman’s choice,” said Jodie Evans, co-founder, moments after being released. “That’s it.”

CODEPINK is a nonpartisan women’s peace group. They vehemently oppose Palin’s pro-war, anti-environment, anti-choice positions. More details to come. For questions, please call Jodie Evans at 310-913-4821.

Obama has rejected several requests from troop support groups that he renounce Evans for her support of the terrorists in Iraq.

This is getting annoying with the protesters. Doesn’t the RNC have some security procedures down there?

Shoot To Kill

Unless snipers happen to be in good positions, there would be too much danger of hitting innocents. I would think physical obstruction would be safer for all concerned, though it needn't be pleasant for the person being subdued.

"Dangerous kooks should not be allowed this close to ANY of the candidates"

Yes, this shouldn't be happening on either side. The Secret Service better get with it.

As for the so called "disgruntled Republican" who let them in: Somebody needs to sit the POS down and read them the riot act i.e. What are they going to say if one of these nutballs ends up hurting someone? Has the dumba$$ even considered that possibility?

That said- I do love how Mac handled it though, "ground noise and static" :-)

They had better keep tight security around Palin at all times. Some of those freaks would love to take her down.

Evans went around passing herself off as Eckrich and Code Pink bragged that they got them from a delegate.

Good question. You could see the security folks standing around the stage, but what interested me was the veterans against the Iraq war protester up in the rafters who it appeared was just left alone out of a concern for safety. His and the ones who needed to get him out of the building. That took place last night as well as what appeared to be another code pinkie up in the balcony being led out after an attendee had removed a sign or banner she attempted to display. CSPAN cameras gave it some views but their pictures were not too disruptive to Senator McCain’s speech.

> This is what happens when you deinstitutionalize the mentally ill...

Said in jest, I know. However, I sit on the board of trustees of an organization that helps the de-institutionalized mentally ill. Some of our "clients" are unusual folk, to be sure, and many of them need to be helped with everyday things like washing and buying their groceries. But none of them would do anything dangerous and stupid.

These Code Pink people are both dangerous and stupid, and they do these things being fully compos mentis and are without excuse.

What was so GREAT was that at the first signs of confusion on the floor, the Convention Attendees started yelling "USA, USA, USA" so that who ever was screaming and being removed could not be heard over the crowd response of USA. It was sooooooooooo sane, rational, dare I say "Republican?"

Amen! There is no one I know who could be called Pro war unless you happen to be in one of the many anti war peace groups who think falsely that anyone not in your peace camp, must be pro war. A deception that sucks a lot of people in.

Of all people, mothers, combat veterans, and medical folks, are the people most likely to have a serious aversion to physical combat. War is hell, on everyone involved.

Pro war is nothing more than a canard for something that exists only in the fevered brains of those who seem to believe that peace is likely in a world battling good and evil

Their definition of peace would than be the head in the sand option of lack of conflict. Just because there is no war, does not mean that evil and conflict are not waiting eagerly in the wings to lay waste to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness, for which so many have payed for with their precious blood to preserve a legacy of liberty for those of us who yet live.

The only sacrifice more sacred than that of American patriots and soldiers, would be that of Jesus Christ himself for much the same purpose only a much wider application.

Is it possible that if Medea Benjamin had been in jail as she should have after committing treason a couple years back, this may not have happened?

Apparently not good enough.

What scares me is the thought any one of these leftist goofballs could have been armed with a gun. Including the Code Pinkos. Remember how close they got to Sarah before they got nabbed.

For me, that's a little too much.
