This morning, Republicans tell me that a worker at Invesco Field in Denver saved thousands of unused flags from the Democratic National Convention that were headed for the garbage. Guerrilla campaigning. They will use these flags at their own event today in Colorado Springs with John McCain and Sarah Palin.
Before McCain speaks today, veterans will haul these garbage bags filled with flags out onto the stage with dramatic effect, no doubt and tell the story.
What you see in the picture I sent you is less than half of total flags, a Republican official emailed. We estimate the total number to be around 12,000 small flags and one full size 3×5 flag.
Im not sure what the DNC was supposed to do with unused hand-flags, frankly. But the Republicans are obviously questioning someones patriotism here

Good job!
IIRC, the ‘pubc are giving them all to veterans organizations in Minn.
Just shows that we can be Green, Red, White and Blue!
Well, if the flags had a hammer-and-sickle or a Islamic crescent on them, they would have been kept by the America-hater commies.....
I bet the DNC saved the grecian columns though.
bttt
That’s gonna leave a mark.
Great idea! Rub the Dems’ nose in it!
Could it be that the conservatives/pubbies and people in general are finally standing up and exposing the lefties for what they really are??????????????????????
Could it be that the conservatives/pubbies and people in general are finally standing up and exposing the lefties for what they really are?????????????????????? It’s about time.
Carl Cameron on Fox News just reported this about 20 minutes ago. He said that there were dozens of trashbags that were rescued and being passed out by a Boy Scout troop. So I’m not sure if it is Vets or Scouts or a combo of both that are passing them out. He was on sight. Said he was stuck in traffic for 45 minutes 4 hours BEFORE the event. Said the line of traffic is still over 4 miles long at the 3 hour point. The line of people out of their cars waiting to get into the hanger is about a mile long.
Oh, and by the way, Carl Cameron said that the story was still “developing”.
Didn't President Bush get ridiculed for using the term "Grecian"? (Although it did turn out that 'Grecian' was a proper term)
Although, the flag waving by the delegates on the field at the stadium during the Obama speech seemed a little creepy and weird to me. It came across as phony, and that's worse than being 'merely' unpatriotic.
Well let's see? My kids have the flags from the 4th of July parade in their rooms. They will walk around the house and wave them on occasion, they use them in their play and they know why we respect our flag and country.
As for the dRats, I tried to watch some of their convention and during the first part of the week I saw no American flags, until someone in the media (fox I believe) brought the subject up. The day after you saw that flags were passed out by the dRats. And one more point I never heard a chant of USA the only chants I heard were obama or the no mccain blah, blah. So I do not think the point is what should they have done with the flags I believe the point is why do they not have respect for the country and the flag.
Am I questioning the patriotism? Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes.
They seem to love obama and the govt cheese more than they love the freedom that America offers to any legal citizen that wants it.
both
What an idiot. We were taught in school. Guess they don't do that anymore.
Proper Disposal of the American Flag
"The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning"
This reminds my of when they had the Earth Day celebrations on the Washington Mall years ago.
It took two days for crews to pick up all of the trash.
I wonder how much garbage the Obama-worshippers left behind at Invesco?
They obviously think of our flag as they think of the sweet and precious unborn babies just through them away; they are nothing more than trash....trash them in the local dumpster.
Dramatic effect indeed. This can't help but PO most Americans and is just another nail in the Obama coffin.
However the media whores will back up the Democrats' claim that the Pubbies bought them and are making the whole deal up.
Giving some of the flags to veterans' organization is a great idea as they will continue to remind people of this incident. They ought to put little labels on them that state "Saved from the Democratic garbage heap". Hope they do that in Colorado Springs as well.
I am more and more impressed with McCai and his campaign. Good for him for using this. I recall the Dems either throwing out or walking on discarded flags in an earlier convention. Even saw pics. Do they not realize that the Conventions are not “private,” that we learn what they have done? Obama should have exerted some guidance on this, especially considering his and Michelle’s comments and associates.
To the Rats American flags are just props.
it is both, the unused flags were taken to the McCain event to be recycled, the boy scouts are properly disposing of the flags that were left in the trash by delagates after the dnc
Which is worse, PR-wise, that Democrats had thousands of flags that they didn't even see fit to use, or that they unceremoniously threw them on the ground around trash cans? I say this because the "unused" thing doesn't fit with what I've read. Sounds like spin, in other words.
“Campaign Carl” of FOX is on scene and was just talking it up....fingers crossed they’ll cover this portion of the appearance.
I want to buy one!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to buy a a dozen.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to buy one!!!!!!!!!!!
I want to buy a a dozen.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sure you are right. For these America hating scum bags, it must have felt like holy water thrown on a vampire to hold an American flag. It was all show.
BTTT
Good job. Those flags will be much happier in a place where they feel welcome.
We needs pics of the flags around garbage cans or thrown on the floor. Not just folded in plastic bags. Anyone have some of those?
The Denver Post must have heard about this and took the page down! I get an error now when trying to go to the link!
There’s a post somewhere here on FR from right after the convention that were taken by RedState. I saw flags mixed in with Pizza boxes and cups.
They might not even like the flag they just used it because it was expected but they could have recycled!!!!!!!!!!
The proper way to dispose of a flag is to burn it when it is no longer serviceable and then bury the ashes. It is not to be tossed into the trash.
The flags in question were not covered in what I saw regarding disposal, but if they weren’t to be used then I’m guessing the same procedure would be applicable.
To bring them out on stage and show people what the Democrats had planned for old glory would be a powerful statement indeed.

recycled? Them? They talk the talk but NEVER walk the walk when it comes to them.
How many ordinary folks, if they were lucky enough to get a chance to attend a national political convention, would want to keep one of those flags as a souvenir?
(But apparently not if you’re a donkey).
Good idea for a fund raiser for Republicans.
“Save an American Flag thrown away by the Democrats” make a donation today!!
Yep, they are all about O and their leftist, socialist agenda and the McCain and Palin are about the USA and so are conservatives.
Liberals are all about “me, me, me”...sad. They wouldn’t know the meaning of sacrifice.
I still remember the amazement by those in Colorado after Dan’s Bake Sale. The city was expecting and ready to clean up tons of trash and were shocked that there wasn’t any lieing around. Just a lot of full trash cans. The only damage was to a flower pot and that was done by the horse of a mounted policeman.
