Whether or not Sarah Palin wins, for American women, politics will never be the same again, says Anne Applebaum.
.....The interest in her (Palin) and her life story is no fluke, either. Following the failure of Hillary Clintons campaign, Palin is suddenly, and flamboyantly, the most prominent female politician in the country. At age 44, she is also the most prominent representative of her generation of women a generation which already looks set to be different, in important ways, from its predecessors.
Unlike Hillary and her contemporaries, the women of Palins generation are not feminists, but rather post-feminist. Born at the very tail end of the baby boom or after it had ended, the post-feminists grew up in a world in which the revolutions of the Sixties sexual as well as political were already taken for granted....
....More to the point, they want to know how she (Palin) does it while appearing utterly unbothered by the conflict at all so much so that she fired the chef in the Alaska governors mansion, on the grounds that her children ought to learn how to make their own sandwiches. She has described switching between breast pump and BlackBerrys (note the use of the plural; she has two BlackBerrys) in the middle of the night, and there are photographs of her at her desk, baby Trig beside her. And all of this without looking at all frazzled, or badly groomed, or distressed. She positively radiates self-discipline and organisational skills, waving her freshly manicured nails, moving rapidly in high heels.

Who?
“There was no Hillary era. WTF?”
Call it the Hillary curse then. Whatever you call it, if Sarah Palin can end it...GOOD!
The Traveling Pantsuit is out of style.
Yes, we absolutely have work to do. And as one FReeper corrected me so aptly yesterday, the Democrats have more registered voters. Quint and I were coming back from a conference in West Virginia and I got very excited when a news blurb said that there were more Republicans than Democrats in the United States. It turned out to be not true. So we have to get busy and enlarge our Republican base of voters. This is perhaps the most critical election to come down the pike in many many years — and maybe the most important one in our lifetimes.

Her Senate credentials???...Don't kid yourself...I'm sure Schumer did all her work.
And Hillary voted for going to Iraq....and even backed it up on Russert by saying "It has been the policy of the Democrats to remove Saddam"...in effect, saying...We were the ones who thought of it first...
The emergence of Sarah Palin means that Hillary’s hopes for running again in 2012 are alive and well.
> A thought only a bucket of water would bring the Hillary erea to an ened.
Or a Lake of Fire.
I don’t think it brings the Clinton Era to an end. It’s just going to push it back until 2012.
I think we should lay off Hillary unless she goes out there and campaigns hard for Obama.
PUMA’s are voting for McCain. They are devoted Hillary fans. PUMA’s read this site. Don’t be an a$$. They’re joining us to get rid of the nutcase. I’m sure they won’t appreciate reading the Clinton bashing.
I think you're on to something. I think there's also a big timing issue involved. The hard left has taken over the Democrat party lock, stock and barrel. Every voice of moderation has been locked in the basement. Political correctness and diversity mythology has reached a critical mass under the reign of the lawyers, academics, and rich dilettantes that run the left these days. They're hoist on their own petard, as it were. They united the crazed rabble, and now the rabble has taken over.
Our side came up with two grown-ups, and the contrast couldn't be more obvious.
Ever notice how angry the Dems are when they speak? No lightness, no humor, just angry and bitter. I saw “Plugs” speak for about 10 seconds and that’s what I got.
The big difference between Hillary and Sarah- People actually like Sarah. Sarah’s not walking around with a chip on her shoulder looking to deliver seven layers of vindictive hell to anyone in her way.
Well...she's only been a politician for eight years. Before that, she was a politician's wife. She certainly has name recognition, but as far as actual accomplishments in politics, not so much.
Palin better not take her eye off "herself".
O represents the birth of a Cook County/Mayor Daley/old boy network “son”. Not a leg to stand one but hoisted on the shoulders of these guys and Big Money Men.
Hillary is counting on Obama losing, so she can get the Democrat nomination in 2012, running on the "I warned you not to pick that loser" platform.
Hillary era ???? That’s just a figment of lefties’s imagination !!
And i hope there won’t be a palin era either. What happened to all that talk of country first? McCain ends up choosing someone with absolutely no foreign policy or national security experience!! This guy should change his slogan to McCain first! Palin can’t even face the media for fear they might ask her something abt. foreign policy. So much for standing up to the old boyz!
Unless mccain indicates that he’s gonna pick john bolton as his national security adviser,i am not gonna vote this time!
I think they all know deep down that Sarah will be President of the United States some day.
