Sarah Palin brings the Hillary Clinton era to an end
Telegraph.co.uk ^ | 6 Sept 2008 | Anne Applebaum

Posted on 09/06/2008 12:36:51 PM PDT by CaraM

Whether or not Sarah Palin wins, for American women, politics will never be the same again, says Anne Applebaum.

.....The interest in her (Palin) and her life story is no fluke, either. Following the failure of Hillary Clinton’s campaign, Palin is suddenly, and flamboyantly, the most prominent female politician in the country. At age 44, she is also the most prominent representative of her generation of women – a generation which already looks set to be different, in important ways, from its predecessors.

Unlike Hillary and her contemporaries, the women of Palin’s generation are not feminists, but rather post-feminist. Born at the very tail end of the baby boom or after it had ended, the post-feminists grew up in a world in which the revolutions of the Sixties – sexual as well as political – were already taken for granted....

....More to the point, they want to know how she (Palin) does it while appearing utterly unbothered by the conflict at all – so much so that she fired the chef in the Alaska governor’s mansion, on the grounds that her children ought to learn how to make their own sandwiches. She has described switching between “breast pump and BlackBerrys” (note the use of the plural; she has two BlackBerrys) in the middle of the night, and there are photographs of her at her desk, baby Trig beside her. And all of this without looking at all frazzled, or badly groomed, or distressed. She positively radiates self-discipline and organisational skills, waving her freshly manicured nails, moving rapidly in high heels.

[quote}Bill Clinton’s amount of foreign policy experience when he left Arkansas as its Governor wouldn’t have made a big enough wad to load a popgun............................................................................................. {/quote} And look how that turned out??while al-qaeda was planning an attack on america this guy was busy drilling oil in the white house.MSM blamed bush for failure to stop 9-11 attacks but it was this guy inaction which led to those attacks. CIA had a lock on osama's position in afghanistan and all they wanted was a permission to launch strikes but that permission never came!! And al-qaeda wasn't his only failure. This guy considered china an ally of america and even went on to sell missiles /military satellites to them.Thank god the congress blocked that move.

She will challenge him if she thinks he is vulnerable. If the economy is solid and we are not engaged in any unpopular wars she may not. She also has to be aware that if she challenges him and loses, she can never do it again.
Tell me, how many Russian incursions have there been in Alaskan airspace in the last 6 mos.
I would guess none but she hardly deserves the credit for it.McCain emphasized her role as the commander in chief of the Alaska National Guard but reality is Palin has never personally ordered the state guard to do anything.

If she doesn’t challenge him in another 4 yrs. time she will be too old to run for office in another 8.So even if things are going smoothly , i am sure her liberal left wing media will cock something up and she will use that against him

You are insulting Sarah Palin by comparing her with Bill Clinton.

Do NOT tell me that Bill Clinton's motive was to bless and serve this country! He was too busy with the Interns to pay attention.

As an added bonus, Sarah Palin has evidently brought the dreaded "pants suit" era to an end as well!

Sarah is so hot that no wonder all the icebergs were melting up there! So by bringing her down to Washington, we'll also bring the "global warming" era to an end!

If McCain wins he will be 80 at the end of his 2nd term. She will be a lot younger and I don’t think her age will be a factor. A more likely impediment would that she is yesterday’s candidate and there will be a lot of younger candidates with new ideas. But, I certainly would not dismiss the idea she would run in 4 years.

“thought only a bucket of water would bring the Hillary erea to an ened.”

Maybe you should test your hypothesis.

I’ll buy you a beer one day when you get out of the Federal joint. Just remember to drop the empty bucket and dive into a spread eagle position before you get Glocked, or worse.

Lol i am not comparing palin with bill clinton. I was merely responding to a post where it was mentioned that bill clinton did not have much foreign policy experience when he became president and so it was okay for palin to be president too. that’s all!

Palin can’t even face the media for fear they might ask her something abt. foreign policy. So much for standing up to the old boyz!

Good grief! Have you just crawled out from under a rock or something? Or have you been getting all your info about Gov. Sarah Palin from the left-media industrial complex?

I don't think Hillary will go against Palin>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Florida is one of the Dem/Pub battle grounds that has a lot of Hildebeast supporters.

.....It’s beginning to look as though Obama has been told all his life how special he was .....

That is called grooming. Think Al gore, think Bill Clinton, think Anita Hill. All learned that they were phonies when compared with capable folks.

McCain wins but only serves 4 years: Hillary runs against another woman who has been the Vice-president for 4 years.

Let's not forget that as VP, Palin will also be president of the Senate, where Hillary will ostensibly be serving over the next four years.

Add to that, that Palin will no doubt have a much larger role in day to day governance than any previous VP, and you've got a nearly un-winnable situation for Hillary in 2012.

By 2012, unless Hillary has built some very serious credentials, she'll look no more electable than she does now. Just older, and more disgruntled.

On top of all that, this is Sarah Palin we're talking about here. She beats the pantsuit off Hillary in any category you'd care to name.

Some of the differences between Sarah and Hillary.

Rather than claim she was a sports fan , (NY Yankee curse), Sarah is athletic.

Rather than claim she was shooting guns as a little girl, Sarah hunts.

Rather than loathing our military, Sarah's son is serving in the Army.

Just a few examples.

Florida is one of the Dem/Pub battle grounds that has a lot of Hildebeast supporters.

Why would Hillary help Obama? She only looks out for herself. If he wins, she will have to wait 8 years to run for president again.
Also, Hillary surely knows how her loyal PUMA friends feel. They don't want her to touch Palin. They are smart enough to see that it would be political suicide.

I am not saying she’s incompetent, she’s just not experienced enough. IF this were the 90’s i would have no problem. But post sept.11 she’s a risk.

Ok, by your logic, not a single VP in the last 70 years has met your standard of experience.

And, where exactly is all of this concern and micro-focus on the potential VP's foreign policy experience coming from? Oh...wait, I think I know.....why, it's the left-media!

Silly me. Now that I've realized that, I'll defer to my betters in front of the television cameras.

As long as her generation of feminazi is still drawing air, the Hillary “error” will still exist. I believe we will look back on this with fondness because the next generation of fembots is filled with twice as much hate.
This generation has SOME semblance of respectability. I pity my children for what they'll have to deal with in 20-30 years.

Don’t worry about foreign policy so much. It isn’t that complicated.

It boils down to this: Don’t mess with America or we’ll kick your ass.

Intricate foreign policy is for Euroweenie a$$hats. Teddy Roosevelt expressed it best: Speak softly and carry a big stick.

Well said, Exit. After three tries, I figured I'd better give someone else a crack at making sense for our FRiend.

I think you hit the core of it. It all boils down to choosing someone of sufficient character, with a record of making tough, but correct decisions.

Are you kidding me? If Joe Biden has his way Iraq would have been divided into three smaller countries. That would have been a nightmare and a victory and stronghold for Iran.
